My reservation says we have a "Studio-Savanna View (Dedicated)" as our vacation home. What does this mean exactly? Is it a smaller room?

This means that it is a dedicated (i.e. not part of a 2 bedroom lock-off) savanna view studio. It means that there isn't a connecting door to the unit next to it. I believe that it has slightly more storage space (but I could be wrong here).

I don't think it's any smaller. (The "value" studios are the smaller rooms.) Dedicated just means it's non-connecting to a 1-bedroom. FWIW, I was in a "Standard Studio-Dedicated" in January ("standard" meaning pool view) and the room was awesome! :cloud9:

I hope that answered your question! ;)

Thanks, everybody! I'm dying to get "Home" for the first time and feel like I still know so little about the resort and its rooms.

Anything, off the tops of your heads, that I should know? :)

We rented points for a 2 BR Savannah View this June.
Does anyone know if the kitchen will have Coffee Filters, dishsoap, and Papertowels? Does the bathroom have any bar soap and shampoo? I'm compiling a list of items we will need to take.

Also if anybody has any suggestions of items that we might need but wouldn't necesarily think about ~I would appreciate the advice.
Thanks

Yes, there should be dish soap, coffee filters (not sure how many) and paper towels. The bathrooms will have soap and small bottles of shampoo.

Hi All -

We are looking at booking concierge for AKL - but can't seem to get an answer to this question: Do any concierge level rooms have bunk beds? The disney website says they do, but when I called (and had a TA look) I was told they don't exist. So.. now I turn to all you experts! Do Bunk Beds exist in Concierge level?

Thanks in advance!!!

I booked directly through Disney and was told that they do not have bunk beds for the concierge rooms. They have 2 queen size beds in a room and a few have King size beds with a daybed. The bunk bed rooms from what I hear on the boards are now DVC rooms.

I know things always change...but as of 9/2007 they did have bunk bed concierge rooms at AKL. We were staying on the 4th floor in the "concierge section" and our rooms were both a bunk bed/queen bed set up and a 2 queen bed set up. I would guess the problem is in booking they don't have a category for bunk bed rooms in the concierge section the same way they do in regular rooms. You can book bunk beds in regular rooms and in concierge it's a request.

I would verify that information is still current with the IPO at AKL but I am pretty certain it still is. And as of September of last year, they did have them for sure as we stayed in one of them.

Just remember, a request is only that. They will do their best to meet it but if it's a make or break for your vacation you might want to weigh that. Good luck planning your vacation! AKL is our very favorite resort!! It is amazing!:thumbsup2

Well I am turning 60 in May. I am not quite sure how that happened as I just had my 40th birthday not that long ago? :confused3 But anyway, it is going to happen. So to celebrate this momentous event I booked a two week vacation to Arizona in August (I am an Educational Administrator and the school is closed for two weeks in August) that both DH & I would enjoy. That trip is all scheduled and should be lovely. & then I decided that I needed a special Disney trip to make me happy (DH is not a Disney lover) so we are booked in a 1 bedroom Concierge at AKL for the first week in December. We just bought DVC at AKL last year and haven't stayed in AKL yet. We have no children and usually borrow some and take them along when we go to WDW. So this trip I am feeling positively spoiled staying in a one BR and it will just be the two of us. We just stayed at at a two br at OKW the first week of February (Mom, Sis and the two of us) and I stayed at the BW last September.
The reason for this long rambling email is to find out if anyone knows what the views are like from the concierge 1 BRs? I am so looking forward to this stay. My DH likes taking photographs (he took close to 1000 on our February trip) so I am sure that he will like AKL even if he isn't a Disney fan. :lmao: Thanks, Penny :hippie:

I'm not sure if this appears earlier in this thread or not...I understand that there is a story read around a fire every evening, what time does this happen? I want to make sure we don't miss it.

Subscribing. We had an awesome stay at the AKL this past December (I'll post photos when I get a chance) and are planning to stay CL level at the AKL for December '09. Can't wait! :thumbsup2

How is construction affecting the resort?

Is it still continuing and will it be so in May?

I'm concerned about getting a bad Savannah view. What should I request to be away from the infamous people pens that block good views? If I receive a room with a poor view, can I have it changed?

Well, to answer the above question about "people Pens"...is I don't know. We got a "people pen" on Uzima Savannah once, and I immediately went down and requested a change...No go, there were no other rooms. And you know what..it ended up not bothering us at all. After the first day, I didn't even notice them, and Uzima has since become my favorite Savannah, because I feel it is more isolated than other Savannahs, and it's quieter, etc. I also saw a lot more animals than I did on Arusha. So, I no longer fear people pens, because I realize they really don't take anything away from the experience.

I believe they are gone.
