Hey Tyler,

I would like to call in and request a room on ground level near the pool - noisy is ok - Im not going for tranquility. My question is - which building/area/pool is the spot you would recommend?

Thanks!!
Sinny

If you have a preferred room -- 4101-4112 and 5161-5172 are the rooms you'd want. The Hippy Dippy pool is typically the most fun, but also the most busy. The 50's pool comes in 2nd.

50s - 1161-1172, 2101-2112, 2161-2172, 3101-3112
80s - 9101-9112, 7161-7172
90s - 8101-8112, 8161-8172

Tyler, when looking from the lake to the main building, the Sixties bldg that I want is on the right (on the map I see it says bldg B, but I think the numbers start with 5). Which rooms would I want if I want to be across from the Hippy pool and closest to the main bldg?

I'm not sure which floor (there are 4, correct?).

In other words, if I want to be on the top right side of the T that the building forms.

I hope this makes sense... thanks!

Pool view, closest to Classic Hall in building 5 would be 5x61-5x72, where x represents floor. (1-4) Elevators are in the center of the building, and stairwells are located by the elevator, as well as at the end of each wing.

Thanks for the info!

We have preferred ressies, and I think I'm going to keep them even though it looks (and sounds) like parking is awful for the preferred buildings.

But I do love to be in the middle of things, and love the fact that we can all run down for drinks easily. Plus, I'd rather spend my walking muscles for the parks!

Tyler -

Quick question on the air conditioning motion detector thing... Is it possible to have it a little cooler than 75 degrees at night. We found it got a little warm in the room during our stay at the All Star Movies in October. Even though we had it set for 72, I guess with no one moving around or anything, it assumes no one is in the room???

We'll be at Pop Century in July - hope to see you there! DH and teen DD love the 60's era, and my youngest loved seeing the pics of Mowgli and Baloo - so I reserved the preferred building!

We are so excited about the new hotel - can't wait to check it all out!!!

Thanks so much for this thread - it is wonderful and just gets us even more excited!!

I think I read somewhere on these 68 pages of posts ( WOW!) that you can call down to the front desk and they will send out maintenance to change the AC for you. I'm sure Tyler can verify this one way or the other.

The system knows if people are in the room, regardless of if you are moving or not. The system can be set to as low as 68 degrees.

Woooo, is that like "Magic on Demand" lol just joking:jester:

We were just at Pop Century and did not have a problem at all with the temp. of the room at night or during the day. We had it set at 70 at night and were very comfortable. During the day DH had it set about 68 and worked just fine. I've read many post about a problem with the temp. not sure if we just got lucky or if they have the problem fixed.:earsboy:

While at the Pop Century last week we had several rooms and no problems with the room temp. either. So maybe I'm lucky too. I believe that most of the problems where when the resort first opened, and have been corrected now.

Does the Pop Century have more than one bar? I know there is a pool bar but is there another one? Also what time does the pool bar close? TIA April

Two bars --

Petals Pool Bar and Classic Concoctions (lounge, inside by the food court.)

Petals is open Noon to Midnight.
Classic Concoctions is open 4pm-Midnight.

Last call is at 11:30

Is there room to place portable fold up chairs in the walkway in front of the rooms to sit out at night and enjoy the view (lake view, pool view courtyard view,or whatever we end up with) and not obstruct the walkway? They would only be out during our use and be taken back in the room when not in use. Or would this be breaking a fire code or a problem with other guests access? :sunny:

I wouldn't recommend doing this... there have been some posts from guests on here that have mentioned thier neighbors doing that, and keeping them up all night long. Of course, not sure how rowdy the neighbors were...

:Pinkbounc JUst returned (yesterday) from Florida and stayed at Pop Century from 4/4 - 4/7 and it was a wonderful experience. The twins (10) loved it as did my 22 year old. I will definately go back there again. We stayed in the 50's near Lady (of her and the Tramp) on the corner (1312). The boys went into the bowling pin pool and it was warm. The pool was crowded and it is a short hop to the food court, which btw was awesome. Love the way this hotel was set up. Liked the store and the food court all together. Alot of variety of foods, as usual alot of food more then anyone person can east andthe desserts were awesome. Waiting for the buses was a pain, they didn't come every 15 - 20 min at any time of the day for any park, very erratic with the busing. Leaving PC was fine but getting back depending on the park you had a wait. The employees were wonderful, very helpful. Actually like the value resorts much better than the moderate ones. Can't say enough about this resort. Will definately go again.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Just moving our favorite Pop Century thread up. It was way down in page 4.

I never saw it go past page 2.

So, while I'm on, I know it's early but is Pop doing anything special for the holidays that the other resorts aren't doing?

Does anyone know which building I should request to be facing the mainpool?

We have a prefered room and really want to be overlooking the main pool with the bar and food court I believe.

60's buildings for the central Hippy Dippy Pool/food court/pool bar

50's buildings for Bowling Pin Pool

80's and 90's for the Computer Pool

In each of these you have to make sure you are on the "inside" pool-facing rooms. There are more non-pool facing then there are pool facing, since the back side of the building and the entire base of the "T" are away from the pool.

BTW pool facing rooms are typically more noisy than the others.
