I'm so jealous of those who are going so soon! We booked LAST Aug to go THIS December. Although I am thrilled to have less than 5 mos now to go! :rotfl2:

Just wondering if most of you tip Mousekeeping and if you do it each day or all at once? I'm thinking daily since my guess is that the Mousekeepers change, right? We tip $5 each day. I'm making up envelopes as I come across $5 bills; two are done so far.

Anyone had We Go Shop deliver to the Poly? Do they deliver before you arrive (and Poly holds it) or they schedule delivery for after you check in?We do Garden Grocer; I sent in my order last week. You get to schedule your own delivery time, but bell services will keep your groceries (refrigerated as necessary) until you're settled.

How long does it take to take the Monorail from Poly to GF for dinner and Contemporary at breakfast time?GF: I don't know-- 5-6 minutes?? CR figure closer to 15. If you allow half an hour you'll have time to explore.

THANKS!

We leave 4 weeks from yesterday

THANKS Alice - and I cannot beleive your trip is so close! You know it's a smart idea to start early with the tip envelopes. I was thinking of doing that for our Character meals as well.....

Ok, so the punch is different from the Lilikoi juice??? I am getting more excited by the minute!!!

The punch I am speaking of is served during evening service and at dessert time if there is any left. It is an adult beverage.

If you mean the guava juice blend served upon arrival (and in the lounge), that is a whole different (and quite yummy) juice rather than a punch.

I did it the same way last year-- it was a painless way of saving the money, and not feeling as though the tips were coming out of the kids' souviner money.

Great advice about putting the tip$ in the envelope before time. When I was there last, every morning I was scrambling for dollars!:goodvibes

Just found this thread today. We are going in Sept. to the Poly and it'll be my first time there since 1989 when I was in 4th grade. My DH and I have 2 kids (ages 4 yrs and 22 mths). I was reading some of your great posts. I had a question about having groceries delivered, like bottled water. Can anyone tell me what the website for this is? If we take water bottles, can we just keep refilling them in the parks at water fountains? If this is the case, I'm not sure I need to order groceries.

When I booked our dining reservations, I couldn't get the Kona for 7:30am, when I thought they opened...they had 7:50 available one of the days. Can someone tell me, if we just show up at 7:30 for breakfast on the mornings we want to eat there, could we get in or are they really that crowded that we have to wait for our reservations. We really don't know if we'll want to eat breakfast there a lot of the days, or just eat in the room. Also, for other quick breakfasts, do you recommend stopping at the Contemporary for their cafeteria style option? It didn't seem like the Polynesian had too much to offer for breakfast since we don't want a sit-down meal each morning.

My parents are going along and will be staying in the room next to ours, it is their 40th wedding anniversary year.

And this is off the topic of the Poly, but does anyone have any luggage recommendations...we have been married 7 years and still haven't bought luggage and I guess now is the time. We are Costco members and I was going to check there.

Thanks everyone! I hope to get more time to read all the posts!!

If all you need is water, Costco delivers it with no extra fee. I beleive it's around $6-7 or so for a case and it includes delivery. But I've also heard many just take with them several bottles and just refill it around the park.

For a quick breakfast, go to Captain Cook's. It's the fast-food type place Here's the menu: http://allears.net/menu/menu_chh.htm . You can get hot food made to order-- pancakes, tonga toast, etc, or grab a muffin or some fruit. You can also get the refillable mugs for $15 or so, good for unlimited coffee/tea/soda bought at the Poly for the duration of your stay. Also, keep in mind: you can order lots of that breakfast stuff from the links I gave you above.

The "reservation" system is a bit misleading. When you get there, 15 minutes before the time on your ADR, your name is put on a list for the next available table. So the odds are good taht you'll be able to be seated fairly quickly at that hour of the morning.

My parents are going along and will be staying in the room next to ours, it is their 40th wedding anniversary year. Congrats to them! Last week was our 20th!

We are Costco members and I was going to check there.I saw some at BJs last week-- I didn't check into it, but I imagine you'll be able to find some at Costco. Also, be sure to tie a bright bandana or string to your luggage to make it easier to find when you return home.

Thanks everyone! I hope to get more time to read all the posts!!

Have a great trip!!

Hi guys...I have been MIA with this busy summer. I hope everyone is doing well!

I had the strangest dream last night that we were staying at the Poly and for some reason drove a CM to pick up a shipment of candy for the Hawaii lounge :confused3 We never have a car at Disney so that is the really weird part. Candy???? I may be losing it!

She upgraded us to the suites for our service :lmao: I guess I have the Poly on my mind!

Happy Summer everyone. :flower3:

Aloha all!

I thought I would join this thread because I am deeply in love with the Polynesian. It is such a great hotel, and I cannot wait until I go back in April 2010.

Wow, you are getting close! I am looking forward to hearing new reviews :thumbsup2

I just got off the phone with Elisabeth from the Poly's IPO. What a sweetheart!!! She got me my ADR for R&C at 8:00pm (will be holding out for a lagoon table) and she got me in for the dessert party on my birthday!!:thumbsup2 I cannot wait for this vacation to start! I don't think I'll have to worry about getting older, because I feel like I'm turning into a kid again with all the excitment over this.

Aloha!!:cutie:

Anyone ever rent a canoe while at the poly? I've never been in a canoe before but thought it might be fun to rent one while out there. Was it fun? Worth the money?
