I got back yesterday evening from my 10 day Orlando trip, including 7 days at the Poly! I posted a couple times live from the poly during my trip. I was so bummed yesterday and didn't want to leave. I really enjoyed the Poly. I wish I had taken more time out to further enjoy it. I never got in to either pool and never got a dole whip :( But I loved watching Wishes from my balcony and just the overall vibe of the resort.

Sorry about not getting in the pool time. I was pleased overall with everything that we did this trip. We did a fair amount of everything...park time...nap time...pool time...recreation. I really think staying club level helped us accomplish all of these things because we never waited in lines for breakfast, could always stop in for snacks or drinks without staing in line at capt cooks. We were always stuffed and cancelled several dinner reservations. We usually do 5 or more dinners/lunches but only did 4 this trip.

I think I have my dh ok with me booking GV CL when packages for 2010 come out. The friends that are going with us are going to book TP CL, so when I told my dh that and I was only considering booking GV CL, he said ok. Not 100% if the ok was a go ahead ok, or a questioning type thing. At least I have until August to get him convinced. When I told him that there were more beers than just Bud in the lounge he sort of perked up. He isn't much of a drinker, but when he does drink he is not a bud person.

So thank you to everyone who keeps giving me more and more information that helps me get him to consider it. He likes the idea of not having to worry about breakfast each morning. We do the dining plan that has the one quick service and the one TS each day. Last time, my sister who drove down, brought pop tarts and such for us.

Just never had time. When I did have some down time I was trying to rest. Plus I found even the quiet pool wasn't that quiet. There were usually quite a few people, including kids carrying on and having fun. I prefer it to be less crowded and quieter.

I know! I kept wanting to try the dole whip but every time I was at Capt Cook's I wasn't that hungry for it. I kept waiting to be hungry so I could enjoy it better. Guess that didn't work out. Oh well, something to look forward to next time :)

Thats right next time :goodvibes. The important thing is you had a good time this trip.

Great info, exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks!

Just want to second what Tess wrote -- I totally agree with it. Breakfast and dinner would work, but lunchtime food consisted of popcorn, cookies, and gummy sharks -- you'd have a hard time making a lunch out of that!:rotfl: CC's was great for a quick lunch by the pool.;)

Yep, just beware of the birds. They love to dive for food.:rotfl:

Thanks for the further clarification of what is available at lunch, but you know my DD6 and DS9 would vehemently disagree with you on the fact that those items are not sufficient for a good lunch! :crazy2:

:rotfl:

Glad to be of help. Sometimes there were goldfish out, too.;)

We arrived 10:30 last Monday at Poly club level. Our room was ready and we were swept away to it on the golf cart. I had requested a 1st floor room but we were fine with the balcony. In all 3 trips as a family we have always had a third floor. We made pigs of ourselves on all of the food offerings.:rotfl:DH loved the beer and i enjoyed the punch.:rolleyes1

I am off to do some laundry but will try to check in if you have any questions.

Just wondering. I have read that the rooms on the 2nd floor in Hawai have no balconys. Are those guest rooms too? We ahave stayed CL at WL a few times and our next trip is CL at the POLY. Just wondering.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, no balconies in the second floor guest rooms of Hawaii.

Great point! My 2 DS's love the gummy sharks and goldfish. They also really enjoy the uncrustable pb&j sandwichs. Personally I wish they had a bit more out during the day but the kids love it.

My DD thought she was in heaven with the uncrustable PB&J sandwiches in the lounge! :cloud9: One time they'd run out temporarily and she was asking where they were and a lounge CM brought some more out just for 'her'. :thumbsup2

She loved the gummy sharks but didn't like the goldfish.

I may have convinced my husband to stay CL at the Poly (I've decided to do a split stay with the first two days at AKL CL so we can go on the sunrise safari). He said he definitely didn't want to do the deluxe dining again, since it was too much food. I told him I was thinking of bagging the dining plan altogether since we could stay CL and the food seemed ample enough for breakfast and dinner and we could eat lunch at the park (maybe do the quick service plan - haven't decided). Our kids would be pretty well exhausted by 4, so we'd be back at the resort anyway to freshen up, take advantage of the the evening offerings and then go back to a park, or just stay at the Poly for the rest of the evening (my personal preference:)).

Sounds just like our trip this past April. We stayed 3 nts in AKL CL and went on the Sunrise Safari. I loved AKL & the two resorts complement each other very well.:goodvibes Then we stayed Poly CL. We really felt that one big meal each day was enough for us, although we sometimes ate more. If that meal is at lunch, it works better with the CL offerings... We're not really big eaters though (any more ;)), so the appetizers were plenty for us on some nights. No dining plan, we just went out to eat when we wanted to.

So excited ... we officially booked Poly MK view this morning for the last week of October (instead of April next year)!! And we got tickets for MNSSHP for Halloween night!!! :maleficen I love Halloween, and what a great way to spend it!
We are planning on not telling the kids that we have changed our travel plans until we are on our way to the airport (it'll be interesting to see if we can keep it a secret!)

Lovin' the look of my new ticker!

I'm glad someone else has done this and had a good time! I tend to love a big breakfast, but I think I'm alone in that; I'm thinking the CL offerings would be a good start for the day and if we have a late breakfast or early lunch at the parks, we'll be good to go.

I think my daughters would love the lunch offerings, too. Especially the uncrustables. Unfortunately, we found out just a few weeks ago that my son is allergic to peanuts. He doesn't have an issue if they are eaten around him, but he definitely reacts if my husband and I eat something with peanuts and then hold him or kiss him. I'm hoping it won't be too hard to arrange things with CL so we don't have any problems. He'd eat nothing but fruit if we let him, so even the fresh fruit would make him happy.

Just wondering if any previous Poly guests have ever had any nice surprises left for them in their rooms as a "welcome to Disney"?

In December 2007 when my family and I stayed there after coming back from Downtown Disney on our 1st night a Club Level Cast Member or one of the Housekeepers during turn down service left a chocolate bar with the Polynesian logo on it inside our room. However I think that is something all Club Level guests will recieve when staying there.

Random post to check ticker. I know. It's annoying, but I can't wait to go to WDW and the trip's a surprise, so if I check the calendar, my DS12 will suspect!

Carrie, we'll arrive shortly after you.

And my sister and her family will arrive just ahead of you :)

We got back about a week ago from Poly and upgraded while we were there and then added an extra day. We have been before and it was so nice...again, although I am a bit disappointed in CL. The food was fine, nothing special...just fine. We got turndown service once the entire 6 days we were there. The staff was very pleasant and always said Aloha but we fond AK CL was much nicer...better food offerings too - more fresh fruit offered. O well...we still had a great vacation. DD had so much fun. If anyone has any questions - I would be happy to answer them.
