We had a MK view from the Poly when we were there two years ago (just about this time of year). The fireworks were wonderful to watch. I'm hoping if we go club level with a MK view its as nice as it was the last time (we were in Aotearoa.
The first few days were lovely, but our last day it was 90 degrees and rained. I lived in Louisiana years ago and had forgotten how hateful the weather can be. My trip to DW previously was in early October and I couldn't abide the humidity then, either. After being there the first week in December and having it be cool for a change, I don't think we'd go there any other time.

We've done other times of the year (February, March, May) but most our trips have been August or September and I've not had a problem. However, I'm a summer baby. DH says it is warm & grumps a bit, but it has never been so hot that he got sick or decided to sit it out in the room.

It does get warm, but you are in & out of the air conditioning so much it isn't bad. Take summer clothes (shorts, tank tops, etc), drink plenty of water and take it slow so you don't over heat.

As for the storms, it is like traveling anywhere in the Southeast or Carribean that time of year - there is always a risk. I'd recommend getting trip insurance just in case. That way if you do get stormed out you are covered. Once we had a storm skirt around us, but it wasn't bad. The rain comes & goes. And it seems like people stay away those days, so the already light crowds are even lighter.

Personally, I'd rather be there in September w/the heat than in February when it can go down into the 50's - too cold! :cold: If I'm going to Florida I want to wear summer clothes!

This is true for me too! Past 3 years we have traveled between late august and early October. It is hot but my family of four has coped! Love summer clothes, flip flops, etc! For me, the low crowds make up for the heat... you do not have to stand out in it too long. I found the late Sept/early October to be the best. August was more humid.... in my experiences anyway. As mentioned by others, if you are not a heat person it may not be for you. Best of luck with your decision

Am i the only person here who loves Humid Rainy Flordia ??:rotfl:

For me the hotter the better! Humidity doesn't bother me either. I don't have to use as much moisturizer either when the humidity is high. Our next trip will be December 2010 and I hope the weather isn't too cold for me. I can't stand being cold. I can never seem to get warm.

Has anyone had luck requesting a specific room number in the Hawaii building?

How about checking the kids into Neverland for the evening and taking her somewhere to dinner or a stroll around the World Showcase? I always enjoyed that when our kids were young and they LOVED The Neverland Club!

DW may not want to leave the kids, she likes to include them - after all this is a "family" vacation. Hmmm, is there anything else I can do?

There are loads of special things you can do for your wife that could involve the kids as well. . .

  • Order something special from the Disney Florist to be placed in your room upon arrival;

    There is also a bakery line that you could telephone and arrange for something lovely to share with the family;

    Some people have ordered tuxedo strawberries and champagne to share on the balcony after the kids are sleeping;

    Let the kids have an evening swim in the volcano pool, while you and your wife sit poolside enjoying the castle view with a tropical concoction;

    Schedule a fireworks cruise for your family;

    Call the Disney dining line and arrange a meal that she has not planned--it can be a family friendly meal that your wife would enjoy.

Just a few thoughts. . .hope that gives you some ideas at least and you're most certainly welcome.

Tess wrote down most of what I would recommend.

We've done the Illuminations fireworks cruise before as a family. We all loved it, esp. my DD.

We tried the TL surfing lessons this trip and it was great.

I am in the pre-planning phase for an Anniversary trip for just my wife and myself. When we did this a few years ago at GF we had a lovely concierge room on the 2nd floor of the main building wtih a king sized bed and a MK view.

I have read the FAQ at allears and they mention "Honeymoon Rooms" with a max occupancy of two. Does anyone know which buildings house these rooms and if concierge is required for this room type.

Elsewhere on this thread, I have read that king sized beds were only available with a suite, so I am hopeful that someone can clarify this for us.

I could not wait to find out about the Fiji renovations so I called the Poly directly. They confirmed it will be out of commission until early May. Time for me to make a different request! :sad1:

The honeymoon room is in the Tonga building (suites). It has a marina view and is next to the King Kamehameha suite. It is also used as an add-on to that suite. The room has a king bed and jacuzzi tub. Hope that answers it for you!

hello all,

okay i am sure it is posted somewhere here but...

I just upgraded to concierge at poly and a few question i have.

does anyone have an updated version of what the club is offering? such as do they have real coffee or is it nescafe. do they have a soda fountain or do I have to walk to gch for my soda refills and kona for my real coffee? also what room or area would you guys suggest for garden view. i am thinking 3rd floor end rooms? I also heard that the rooms were refurbed in 2008? do they have double sinks in bath.

help I am panicking here 23 days left!
:scared1:

Thanks. That is helpful information. At GF, it seems like they had 5-6 king sized bed rooms available for the honeymoon/anniversary crowd. Is there only one room at Poly that has a king sized bed then?

Club level:

Only one sink.
Nescafe coffee, lattes, & hot cocoa.
Cans of Coke products.
Iced tea, juice, lemonade and Evian are also offered.
Can't help with the room#s.
Oh and beer and other drinks, too.

The Hawaii building is in a very convenient location.

Hope this helps. :)

Where on the beach do they pipe in the music for Wishes? I have read that it is only done at certain locations, but can't remember where those locations were.

The food offerings listed in the beginning of the thread are up-to-date and accurate based upon what was reported from a recent returnee. Don't panic, you'll have a ball! We're there in 26 ourselves!

That is my understanding, yes.

I'm traveling with my DD with no one to take pics of us. Do you think there are enough people around the Poly that might be nice enough to take some pics of us on the beach if we ask? I was looking into the photo session, but it went up $50 since we did it in Sept! :scared1:

We thought this was such a homey touch last time we went to the Poly! Do they still do this when you center the GCH to check-in? Do you still get lei's too? Thanks!:goodvibes
