I have gotten more and more into hidden mickeys after discovering that it occupied my kids and they liked it too! I was wondering if anyone knew of any hidden mickeys at the Poly? I'd love to hear where they are so we can look for them too! Thx!

There's a big HM in the floor just inside the entrance.

Sad I don't have a date to add yet either. We're headed to THV and BLT in September. I also have BCV and scheduled for Oct. and BLT for Dec but need to get things figured out. So we might stay at the Polynesian in Sept, Dec or January but I have nothing booked at this point.

We had them in our room on the rug, and in the hallway rug. Also kids found them in lobby.

Re: hidden mickey's, as you are taking the stairs to the 2nd floor of the GCH, there is what appears to be pieces of hollowed out bamboo trunks stacked decoratively in cases. Some of those form mickey heads.

Re: the hidden mickey tip, I should have mentioned... it's the staircase closest to the DVC counter, not the other one on the Boutiki side of the lobby.

Can anyone add me to the travel date list? I'm having troubles. Nov 30-Dec 9.

And for those of you I see going in late Sept, tell me your weather experiences with this time of year. I am going 9/23 with a college friend. She got a 40% off pin and is using it at the GF. The Polynesian is my absolute favorite, but she really wants to try the GF. Getting 40% off and then splitting costs is probably not an opportunity we'll have again. I am really concerned about the heat though and possible rain and hurricane issues. I don't tolerate the heat well. I'm sure we'll stick to my usual plan of early am's in the park, back around 11:30/noon for lunch and pool time and then parks again at night.

And for those of you I see going in late Sept, tell me your weather experiences with this time of year. I am going 9/23 with a college friend. She got a 40% off pin and is using it at the GF. The Polynesian is my absolute favorite, but she really wants to try the GF. Getting 40% off and then splitting costs is probably not an opportunity we'll have again. I am really concerned about the heat though and possible rain and hurricane issues. I don't tolerate the heat well. I'm sure we'll stick to my usual plan of early am's in the park, back around 11:30/noon for lunch and pool time and then parks again at night.

We went in September once, and let's just say never again. It was just too hot for us (and very humid). Even our poor kids were flushed in the face with bright red cheeks from the heat. It would rain for a short period every afternoon (thunderstorm) and sometimes in the evening. The rain/storms were typically short lived though. We went through tons of clothes, as we were all sweating buckets! LOL gave me an excuse to buy some more Disney "wear" though. Again just too warm/uncomfortable for us, but some people really like the heat or have no other option.

We've done other times of the year (February, March, May) but most our trips have been August or September and I've not had a problem. However, I'm a summer baby. DH says it is warm & grumps a bit, but it has never been so hot that he got sick or decided to sit it out in the room.

It does get warm, but you are in & out of the air conditioning so much it isn't bad. Take summer clothes (shorts, tank tops, etc), drink plenty of water and take it slow so you don't over heat.

As for the storms, it is like traveling anywhere in the Southeast or Carribean that time of year - there is always a risk. I'd recommend getting trip insurance just in case. That way if you do get stormed out you are covered. Once we had a storm skirt around us, but it wasn't bad. The rain comes & goes. And it seems like people stay away those days, so the already light crowds are even lighter.

Personally, I'd rather be there in September w/the heat than in February when it can go down into the 50's - too cold! If I'm going to Florida I want to wear summer clothes!
