Sometimes I plan so much and for so long, it just doesn't seem fair compared to how short the trips are. Can the trips last for as long as we plan them??

BTW Anjalee, since my aunt (who has renal failure) will be with us during our last 3 days, I'm trying to make things as simple as possible for her, so I changed some more stuff around. Don't worry, I'm not giving them to you until the last minute!!! LOL:rotfl:

101 days today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a problem! :thumbsup2 I will change the information whenever you are ready. I know what you mean....you spend some much time planning and then the vacation is over so fast. That just means I have to plan our next Disney trip!!! :lmao:

Catching up to get my Disney fix! Been a bit of a bummer week: DH had to fly to Louisiana for a funeral, found out DD17 needs all 4 wisdom teeth out (the dentist gave us the referral for the oral surgeon & said we should do this by the end of summer, & I had to bite my lip to keep from saying, "Well it won't be until after Disney":lmao:my priorities are in order!), and DD13 just presented me with a $100 price tag for end of the chorus activities & trip :headache: I've actually considered cancelling the trip because of the cost but I just can't bring myself to do it, I SO WANT US TO GO!! I keep having Disney flashbacks of our last trip & thinking "Oh, DS is going to LOVE that!"...or "Can't wait to see/do that again!"

I'm sorry. It always seems to go that way, doesn't it? I know. I went back and forth before we booked the trip. First I wanted 10 days like last year and then we thought how about just 5 and then we figured out how to do 8. I did some creative planning to get us the 8th day. ;) It will all work out.

You can add the Wishes Dessert Party on June 8 at 9pm for us :goodvibes

Got it! I added it to the list on page 1. :thumbsup2

Kinda late here but I just found this thread so here goes!: we are driving in on the 27th and departing on jul 5th and staying at CSR! It will be our first dw trip as a family w/kids (DH and I went for our honeymoon)! We will be celebrating our 10 yr anniversary on this trip and are really hoping it will be out of this world! It's a surprise for our girls (dd2.5, dd7) and it has been super hard to not ruinit! I am rounding the corner to double digit days though so maybe I can make it!:thumbsup2

So..my son is home sick again (second day in a row). First daddy stayed home yesterday and now it's my turn. While he rests and watches movies, I am trying to catch up on some Disney planning. So far this morning, I have worked on my tip envelopes and the autograph books for the kids. And love little things that I do leading up to Disney. My husband always kids me and says that I like planning Disney more than going, but that is not true. I love them both equally! And then...it's off to scrapbook some of last year's vacation. I am so far behind. Hopefully I can get 4-5 pages done today. My goal is always to finish the book before we go the following year. I better step it up or it's not going to get done.

My son is home sick again for the second day and I did my tip envelopes too after reading a thread about tipping. I was gonna work on my scrapbooking but I just can't get started. So I've had some time today to dream about Disney. Making my list of items that I need to go out and buy and what needs to get packed.

Here's a new topic that some might find helpful ~ PACKING LISTS! ~

First is the stuff that can be packed ahead of time. I use this check list when we pack to go home so we don't forget anything at the hotel.

For our 10 day trip I'm going to pack toiletries ahead of time rather than try and swipe them from the bathroom at 3 am before we leave for the airport.

I sort of divide my list by category starting with the bathroom:

Nail clippers, tweezers, q tips,
Tooth brush/paste Deodorant,
shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap,
Skin Lotion, VO5, Razor, little Shaving cream,
Hair brush, comb, Scissors, Chap stick, Baby Wipes, Earrings
Gallon Plastic bags, Eye drops, FOOT TAPE, watch, Sun Scream.
Mole skin, bandaids, mini sewing kit.

Clothing: Bandanas, Red Mickey rain jacket, sleeping socks, BATHING SUITS, Belts, Underpants, socks-10 pair, Bras, Shorts, Pajamas, Tops.

Spare Shoes = 2 pair of sneakers and 1 pair pool shoes/ 1 pair sandals

laundry bag and a nylon laundry bag for delicate shirts.

Now we have stuff that we take that's unique to our family:

Pennies and quarters for penny press, Penny press list
Iced Tea maker, EQUAL, Tea bags, 2 squeezy bottles, Lemon juice, Zip lock Bags, water bottles.

Underwater camera, Nasa backpack, Yoda backpack, Mini flash light, glow sticks, Water wallet, Dryer sheets, Magazines, books, pool goggles

Next we have the bag that gets packed right before we leave because we are using the stuff right up until the moment of departure:

Cell Phones CAMERAS and Camera equipment including tripod
Phone chargers, Ipod/nintendo/gaming system/portable DVD rechargers
Prescription meds, Sunglasses, wallet, keys
and Most importantly ~DISNEY FOLDER with VACATION INFO

Finally we have addresses and postage in case we want to torment our loved ones with the fact that We are AT DISNEY WORLD and They are NOT!
We print out their Addresses & bring Stamps. Postcards = small .28, large .44, Letter = .44

We will pack 1 carry on that has bathing suits and a change of clothes for each of us in case something unforseen happens to our luggage and we each spread out our clothing and things amongst 3 different suitcases for the 3 of us in case 1 gets lost by the airlines.

We use this list and we highlite things that have been packed so that we can use the same list for the return trip by crossing off. The high light packed things on the list when you leave and then cross off when you pack to return thing really works out well because you can see exactly what you brought when you are packing up all that crap plus the stuff you bought at Disney!

So wadda ya think! did I miss anything?

Well, we weren't planning on going back until 2012..but the FD pin got me!!!! I have never had to plan a trip on such short notice, so I am very busy trying to get all my ADR's right now!! This will be our first time onsite! We will be at POR June 11-19 for 8 nights!!! We will also be celebrating my dd's 12th birthday!

I was wondering about this! I didn't know if there was a "Disney post office" so that the letters had a Disney cancel on them. Where do you mail your postcards?

Welcome to the group! I added both of your information to page 1. :welcome:

1) What things do you pack in your suitcase that are just for Disney? I'm new to this but figure we will need sunscreen and bottles to carry our water. I'm currently working on getting a backpack specifically for the parks.

2) Ok, be honest, how many people have started packing for Disney already? Started? I started buying things in December! I have a laundry basket and a rubbermaid tote with things like toiletries, glow necklaces/bracelets, even some food items since we will be staying off site and the townhouse has a kitchen.

3) What special traditions do you have to prepare for Disney?
During December my girls got to open a new Disney pin that I put in their Christmas countdown calendar every day. We have also been reading a disney story every night at bedtime.

4) Does your family tour commando style, absolutely care free, or somewhere in the middle? Since we have never been to the park I am using the Tour planning website and will try to be at the rope drop most days with a midday break and then back for night time fun. We plan on having a sleep in day on Tuesday or Wednesday.

5) What is the one thing you really want to try "new" at Disney this year? (in other words, something you have never done before) Everything will be new but we all want to try Tower of Terror even my five year old.

6) Describe your family to us so we know who to "look out for" in Disney? I have 2 DD's, my oldest is 9 and the youngest just turned 5. Look for very tan girls with brown hair and eyes. DH is Asian but looks like he could be Indian because he has long black hair and is very dark from being out in the sun. His legs are as white as sheets! :lmao: Then there is little old me who is pretty average and will desperately want a tan but most likely I'll be the one in the group with a red nose and ears!

Can't wait to be at WDW!!! I'm probably more excited than my kids!

you can actually mail them right on Main St USA..though...I don't think they say disney.

Main street in the Magic Kingdom has a mail box, I think it's by City Hall. As far as I know there is NO Disney Post mark but things could change....
Also I think the hotel you are staying at would mail them for you if they were stamped.

We'll be at POP June 15-25. Our last couple of trips have been to Disneyland so we haven't been to the world since our now 3-year old DD was born, so this will be our first "Princess" trip.

I saw earlier in the thread some comments about the Chilly Pad, but I've never seen them before; Do they really help with the heat that much? I already had to buy some water bobbles because of the reviews on here - I need to stop reading!

And my wife would like to know if anyone knows how to add a Disney vacation countdown to her facebook page.

well, this thread seems contagious. My son is now home from school sick too.

Just found the thread today so here goes! This is our first trip to WDW :)
Staying at POR June 13 - June 19. DH, DS 9, DD 7, DS 5 & myself.
Since it's our first time I've been reading everything Disney, especially the Unofficial Guide & this board!
It's a surprise for the kids but I think we'll tell them one month in advance. I think it would help build up the excitement and they could help plan what they would really like to see.

Has anyone here done the Fairy Godmailer thing for their kids? :confused3 I think it's when people who are at the parks mail post-cards to your kids saying the child's favorite character is looking forward to seeing them; like: "Hi, Johnny! This is Goofy, can't wait to see you June 15 when you come to POP! Look for me at Chef Mickey's breakfast the next day!"--or something like that. What do you think about us being FGM's for each other? I'm going kinda early (June 2-8) & could cover, say 5?, postcards for anyone going the 16th or later. Just a thought. We'd have to PM addresses. My son (who BTW is also home sick ) would flip over a post card from Woody or Buzz.

Thanks!

OK I may not check the board for a few days. Can't chance having my crew get sick. To much going on next month and a half. :rotfl:

Nah really though...hugs and well wishes to all the sick kiddies. :goodvibes
