One of the reasons we stay at the GF is because of the lovely resort, but even more important to us are the terrific RPC CMs. We have found them to be bright, friendly, attentive and proactive. (and the IPO CMs are awesome as well) I hope y'all find the same to be true. :)

The IPO CMs have been wonderfu so farl, especially Marijane.

How are the CMs at the GF? In particular, how are the RPC CMs? I just read a review that has made me a little nervous about staying at the GF. Are the CMs friendly? I've been reading that they're not as helpful as at other resorts, like the Poly. I hope this not true.

I found the CMs (with the exception of one of them) at the concierge desks up in the RPC to be really helpful, fun, and friendly. We've stayed CL at a bunch of resorts at WDW and I think that the CMs in RPC as just as friendly as any that we have met elsewhere. :goodvibes

So glad to read this too! I guess some people don't necessarily like the theme of the GF. You're not going to get an "Aloha" anywhere except the Poly.

Hi GF experts,
My husband and I have planned a surprise trip for our two daughters (11 & 6) and we are staying at the GF in the SL building. Not only have we never stayed at the GF before, we have never stayed on site at Disney. We are excited and will be arriving on May 26, 2010 for five nights. Anyway, I have been reading lots of wonderful things on this site and I just wanted to say "hello". I have read some negative things about the SL building on other threads, but I am a really positive person and I think we will be absolutely thrilled with the room and the services. I look forward to learning more about our resort through this thread.

:welcome:

I've read the other posts, and I want to say that SL is really nice. I think that you will have a great time. Your girls will like the snacks and being able to walk just steps from the lounge to the courtyard pool. You will appreciate the convenience of having the concierge services easily available to you.

Also, we've stayed at several Disney hotels, and we found the CMs at the Grand Floridian to be the very best. We loved Xmas stay in SL so much that we're returning there TWICE in 2010--in July/August and in December.

Keep that positive attitude!

Welcome to the Disboards!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

As for the Grand... for some people...it's just not their thing... the people who LOVE the GF.. FAR outweigh the ones who don't like it...

I say go and relax, enjoy SL... and the Grand... you will LOVE being on the Monrail... Those who don't relax and just take it all in miss out on alot...

Have fun!!! (and take pics!!! )

I saw the pics of the white chocolate Mickey and plate of desserts. Where did this come from? My daughter will be graduating HS right before we leave for our 2010 trip. I want to surprise her throughout our stay. What do the various restaurants do for celebrations? How would I get a chocolate Mickey like the one I saw?

Thanks!!

We just returned from our first stay at the Grand Floridian and it far exceeded our expectations. We were celebrating our son's 5th birthday and our 10th anniversary. Upon our arrival, we were upgraded to a lagoon view (without asking). We checked in at 11:00 a.m. and the room wasn't ready, so we headed to the parks. When we arrived back at our room, there was champagne and a rose to celebrate our anniversary and a white chocolate Mickey and plate of cookies for our son's birthday. What a great welcome!

The rooms are much nicer than they look in the pictures on the board. I was pleasantly surprised. Also, very spacious. I can't say enough positive. My husband told me we only stay at the GF from now on :)

Okay...after lurking forever and reading and dreaming about staying at the RPC...I just booked it for DD's 21st, DD's 8th, and DH's and my anniversary!:cloud9:

I am fired up!:rotfl2:

I need pictures and advice as to how wonderful it will be!:cool1:

Both DD's will have NO idea...it will be a surprise until we ride up on the ME!:woohoo::cool2:

Tell me how awesome it will be!:yay:

It sounds like you would want to talk to Private Dining at 407-824-2474. That's who makes and delivers the white chocolate or chocolate Mickey. There is also a Minnie and I think a Pluto and Goofy. You can order them as a stand-alone or with truffles or cookies. We love the chocolate-covered strawberries! I think they also do the Cinderella slipper. As far as the restaurants, you should mention the celebration when you make your ADRs. Most times they will bring out a special little dessert for the the person but it can be hit or miss. If you really want something special at the restaurant, you should talk to private dining. Have fun!

Welcome to the GF thread! :hippie: Your trip sounds so exciting. We had a grand stay in RPC last month and I included a lot of pictures starting here:

Just jump in and let us know if there is anything specific we can answer and have fun planning!!! Make sure you contact IPO and introduce yourself. ADRs and other reservations can all be handled by the wonderful CMs.

Thank you so much for the link to your post! Your pictures are beautiful! They made me even more excited than I was before!

We have stayed CL before in all the other WDW deluxe resorts (AKL, BC, BWI, CR, POLY, WL, and YC) and the IPO has emailed us the next day. The GF IPO has not contacted me yet, so should I just email them first?

How do I go about introducing myself, as I have never done that before?:confused3

Thank you for your kind reply and wonderful pictures!

We've stayed at lots of CL resorts, and whether or not the IPO contacts us is really hit-or-miss. I've been told that it's gotten worse in the last few years due to the WDW computer system...:rolleyes1

Anyway, you can just call or fax them (#s are on the CL thread, and probably at the beginning of this thread, too). Let them know you are staying with them, the reservation #s and dates. They will look it up and welcome you to their resort. They have always been really nice to me when I've called them first, and often thanked me for getting in touch with them.

Hope this helps!:goodvibes
