I will be there too 7/28 - 8/4 in the main building. with my huge group. If you see a group of 3 teenagers pushing each other with a 9 year getting in the middle - those would be mine. They love each other to bits -- LOL. We should have beads on our baggalini bags or a dis keychain or something.Maybe a ribbon?
Not packed at all but I did make a last run to the mall. Need to get to walmart one last time too.

mmmears I am with you on the packing...I like to start early and be ready days in advance...the kids on the other hand are way more relaxed about getting ready!! Is your DD all packed too...You know you are my packing idol taking carry ons only...

eva Sorry no help from me... We always get a room with the 2 queen beds and a day bed....perfect for our family size...the day bed does open up into a nice sized twin....I cannot settle into our room without a few wipes with the clorox either!!! Oh and the lysol spray too....(it comes in a nice travle size...)

We're all packed and ready to go, even DD. It's because I do most of the packing and supervise the rest and I can't stand waiting until the last minute. We've got it all in 3 carry-on suitcases and a backpack, but now I'm thinking that DD may need 2 pairs of tennis shoes (in case one gets too wet to wear) so now I have to figure out where to pack the new pair...

I'll keep an eye out for you! We're in the main building, too. We'll probably be spending some time up in the lounge enjoying the treats. There's just me, DH, and DD (12).

Anyway feel free to PM if this is something you would like to do. I have met Merriweather from DIS at EPCOT. The only reason I knew it was her, is because she was wearing a green DIS shirt. We had a friendly 10 minute conversation.

I'll be there Aug. 6th-13th, RPC. You'll recognize me by the 3 teens bickering with each other, one of whom will be drooling over all the food and drinks in the lounge!!!!

You won't need to request a refrigerator. The rooms all have one. In this photo, it is behind the door on the bottom right. Very neat freak-friendly

I've never had a rollaway but most rooms have daybeds that pull out basically into twin size beds. Your granddaughter would probably be very happy on it Not sure about King rooms... Good luck!:

Thanks so much! Having the frig is great for water. I believe that we might have a case delivered to the resort. For some reason I thought that cabinet held an honors bar. We will probably have to go with 2 queen beds. DGD would never sleep on the daybed or a love seat. Mainly because you can't see the TV from there.

eva - If you get a king room that does not have a daybed (I know the deluxe king rooms in the main building do not have them, not sure about standard king rooms) and end up requesting a rollaway, it pretty much sits in the middle of the room! Well, wherever you find a place to put it, anyway. There is really no place to hide it, so keep that in mind, if having it out in plain sight will be a nuisance for you.

Maybe someone here can answer the king bed/daybed question? That would be the best solution, as johnsonet pointed out.

DH will just have to get over not having a King. We haven't slept in a queen sized bed in years. But I know it would drive us both crazy to have a rollaway in the middle of the room all day long. Not too thrilled to pay so much for a room and then have a big eye sore in the room. I thought it would probably be too big to fit in a closet. Thanks for the info!

Eva The rooms used to have minibars like this (photo from allearsnet):

but the GF did away with those completely in 2007. Now the rooms have an empty fridge.
Hope your DH doesn't mind about the queen beds. Sounds as though that's the best option for your DGD and, like you, I'd go nuts with a rollaway in the room

We recently returned from a stay at Disney and I booked a bounceback for the GF Dec. 18-21. We've never stayed there, but since it is such a short trip down there, I wanted a monorail hotel. It has been ages since we stayed at the Contemporary (I don't think GF even existed then, lol). We spent a bit of time at the GF on our recent trip...we did the 1900 Park Fare dinner and breakfast, my daughter did the tea with Aurora and my brother and I did the spa. It was a lovely hotel. I think my daughter is going to like the giant gingerbread house at Christmas.

Can anyone tell me if there are any hidden must-dos for a 3 year old girl? I noticed the portrait artist in the lobby. That might be nice. Anything else? She isn't old enough for the Wonderland tea party or pirate cruise just yet. She'll be 4 in mid-January...wonder if they'd let her go since she's within a month of her 4th birthday? We'll probably be too busy for it anyway, but it sounds like such fun!

they will bring you drinks other than what is in the stocked refrigerator..ice...freshen your towels and are really helpful.

DD and I got to visit the GF for a few meals last month and decided that's where we want to spend Christmas in 2010. So now begins all the waiting so I'll be depending on this thread to keep my spirits high.

Thanks! I have to admit I'm quite excited. I was pretty reluctant to leave the Poly but after strolling the grounds and having a few meals at Gasparilla's (love that 'castle' view), and DD kept going on about the gingerbread house at the GF for Christmas, I decided to make the plunge. I'll also admit it was the 'fresh flowers' and seeing a rhinestoned baseball cap in Summer Lace that said 'High Maintenance' that pushed me over the edge to stay at the GF. I'm chomping at the bit for my TA to book our package.

She didn't find the doll (they don't stock the straight-haired African-American one) but she did find the Ariel outfit she wanted. DD just brought her curly-haired AA My Disney Girl doll I got her 2 years ago and dressed her up in the Ariel outfit. People kept commenting how pretty her doll looked.
