Just a quick post to say we had a GREAT time last weekend at the GF.

My 89 year old grandma, my 3 year old son, my 21 month old son and my mom and me. One room in the GF for 2 nights. Booked last minute. The GF was awesome. We had a standard room overlooking the lagoon (bldg 9) but could still see the fireworks.

We did the deluxe dining plan and it was SO worth it! We managed to get into the 1900 restaurant the first night, the second day we had lunch at the Tusker House, dinner at the Wave, and the last day we at breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at Cinderella Table. We used every last point and LOVED having somewhere with A/C to rest in. The kids LOVED it -- DS #1 went on splash mountain, everest, kali river rapids, and dinosaur! He is tall for his age

Loved the water slide at the GF.

So thanks to everyone!!

So you booked gardenview but faced the lagoon. Nice upgrade!

Well, we're here. When we checked in, they told us that we had been upgraded from a GV room to a TPV corner room in Conch Key. The room # is 7425. It is a dormer room, but we can't believe how big the corner rooms are. The only disappointing thing is the tree that is obstructing the view of the castle. Not that I advocate the cutting down of trees, but the CM at the front desk kept boasting about the non obstructed views that we would have!! I am also a bit surprised at how dirty the balconies are. I would expect more from Disney. Not sure if we should say something or not??

Glad to hear you had fun! How awesome to take a last-minute trip. Building 9 is Big Pine Key - we have stayed there once and loved the location.
Sounds like you enjoyed some really fun Disney dining - how did you like The Wave for dinner? I've only been for lunch.

I've been in one of those corner rooms in Big Pine Key and it was amazing! Our room there was an upgrade from GV to MK View as well. The view was from the far left of one of the two balconies. I was thrilled - but I wouldn't have been had I paid for an MK View
I would call Housekeeping about your balcony right now! I'm sure they'll try to make it right.

Congrats on the upgrade and the corner room! We had one in Boca Chica the first time we stayed at the GF and it was awesome!!!

Exactly how we feel! Believe me, we are thrilled w/ the upgrade - I just can't imagine paying extra $$ for it. Maybe these types of rooms are set aside specifically for upgrades??

Thanks to everyones advice about the balconies - I know it sounds ridiculous - we just hate to make complaints!

opraghst - Wow, what a great upgrade! I'd love to get a corner room, from the photos I've seen, they are very spacious. Hopefully, the balcony will be cleaned, I know they can get kind of grimy from rain.

Does anyone know if all of the outer lodge buildings have these corner rooms...I see mmmears had one in Boca Chica and Heather in Big Pine...

they are offering another code for the non CL rooms.
That code books GV at $318 a night.

This makes SL a whole $20 more a night

I am thinking they most likely are going to cut services on us
to make up the difference

I might ~ at the very least I will have a ton of new photos

I am really concerned about them cutting services at club level ~ the more I play with those numbers ..err... the more I think Club level just took a major header to their services offered.

When I was talking to DH about it he said ~ if nothing else we are paying 48 bucks more a night to be in the main building (instead of GV) and will be closer to the monorail ~ and they will still at least throw breakfast at us I am sure

Here is an example of what they are doing to club level with this code

my 10 night/11 day package for 2 adults, 1 JR and 1 child
with tickets and basic meal plan staying in RPC

Without the code for the same dates this package would cost
10,666.45 (I used the site to book it without code but that is still value season rates)
With the code my package is 7,456.48

That's a savings of 3,209.97

Sounds good right?! HECK YEAH but when you think of that BIG of a difference in cost ~ they are losing money big time on my booking. They have to make this up SOMEWHERE ... so where do they make it up?

Disney is there to fill up those rooms....If they discount a room a bit they are not losing that much...gaining in fact. Cause you are buying park tickets, buying souvies, and eating....
I had a great deal over spring break at GF with a REALLY discounted rate in CL AND saw no cut in services whatsoever...

Misti posted some pics of those corner rooms.. I think hers was a corner dormer room. HUGE!!!!!!

I found the regular dormer room a bit small for even SAvannah and I. I love the couch and I really missed it with the dormer. I know next time I am requesting a corner room
