Can you request a microwave or toaster in your rooms at GF? A fridge is there already, is that correct? Is there a fee?

Thank you.

Yes, there's already a fridge in the room. Don't know about a toaster, but we've had a microwave brought to our room when we've stayed at the GF (as well as other Disney resorts) and there's never been a charge. I don't think that's changed. :)

I am so excited! I got a great pin and upgraded to Sugar Loaf and added a day to my upcoming vacation. I have never stayed concierge before - anywhere - and I am super excited! I already emailed IPO and requested a lodge tower room in SL (I know it's only a request).

I'd love to hear reviews of SL - service, food offerings, location, etc. - and see pics if you have any!

Thanks!!!

I dont know if anyone will be at WDW while we are but I thought I would offer here first.

I have a Wishes cruise booked for 3/3 we are 5 so we have room for 5.
let me know if you are interested in joining.

:dance3::yay::cool1: I JUST GOT A PIN :cheer2::dance3::yay::cool1::banana::banana::banana:

I am on hold right now finding out if our current trip (4/3 would be cheaper) or if I am going to book GF for xmas next year!!!! I have to! with DCV where else is there to stay.

I have a question though. If I decide that we want to try the Poly can I change it at a later date even though I used the pin?

Yup! I change resorts ALOT :rolleyes1 and usually long after the expiration date too.

Congrats on the pin! I got it earlier and my super duper TA already booked 10 days at the CR in June and a week at the GF for next December :santa:

YEAH!!!!

I book SL outer lodge :santa: 12/3-12/7/10 OMG my mom is going to poop!
:rotfl: actually she will kill me. I can hear her now "how are we going to afford that?? we just bought DVC we wanted to go for Emily's bday in May !"

We will have to make Emily's trip a little shorter that is all ;)

scanne Congratualtions!!! on the pin and on booking SL...staying CL and the GF will spoil you though....once you do that it will be hard to stay anywhere else!!! Just and FYI on the lodge tower rooms...there are only three...and the one on the forth floor has no balcony...so if thats important (I love sitting on the balcony..) then I would request floors two or three...

We are long time SL fans....it is a small lodge compared to the others...and with the lounge being in the lobby has a kind of cozier feel to it....

It is so centrally located..has nice pool or marina views...very convenient to the boat dock and launches..(such nice way to travel IMO)...and my kids always liked beign able to pop in and out of the building during pool time to get snacks and beverages..

Speaking of the food offerings...there are beverages all day until 10pm including coffee...a lot of breakfast options including bagels, toast cereal, fruits yogurt, danishes, midday snacks including very yummy cookies...afternoon tea scones and all!!! and evening appetizers both hot and cold......and later more snacks, patries, and wines and liquors....

You could keep very busy just trying all that there is to offer....!!!

Its great that you've already contacted IPO...that is one of the best perks of staying CL...they make trip plannning a breeze...and are so helpful as are the CL CMs during the trip ...if you need to change any ADRs or want to add anything to your itinerary...

Enjoy you trip...:cloud9:

I was hoping for some info on the rooms.
With my pin I booked 2 standard CL outer lodge rooms. After looking at the cost I called back to inquire about a 1 bedroom SL because it was pretty close in price when you factor the two rooms. ($90 more a night for the 1 br compared to the two individual rooms)

What is the difference between a 1 bedroom SL and a 1 bedroom SL outer lodge. What does outer lodge mean ?

Can anybody tell me what the bathrooms are like in a standard GV room. I was particularly wondering whether there is a separate shower unit or whether it is just a shower head in a bath?

A 1BR Outer Lodge means the suite would be in one of the other buildings - Big Pine, Boca Chica, Conch or Sago. You would have access to the Sugar Loaf lounge though it wouldn't be as convenient obviously. We stayed in a 2BR in Big Pine Key and had access to SL and RPC though we used RPC exclusively. I would either keep the 2 rooms in SL or if you want a suite, and you can book one specifically in SL, go for that!

What is the latest status on the construction at the grand? Is everything almost done? TIA

The shower head is located in the bathtub. The tub and toilet are located in the same room. A door separates them from the double sink/vanity area which is quite spacious.

OK, I figured out the new camera (pretty easy, of course), and now, to help make myself feel better about having to leave the GF and come home to "real" life, here are some of the pics I took while we were there from 11/7 to 11/14:

Here's what we found waiting for us in the room:

Thanks for the info. I will keep looking and calling trying to get the 1 bd SL if I can't get it I will stick with two SL standard rooms

I just found out my bff was planning on being in wdw the same week :)

This past August when my family and I were visiting the Grand Floridian we went to Gasparilla's Grill & Games and for dessert I had their Strawberry Yougurt from that machine they have. Anyway the next two times we went there I noticed they took off the Strawberry Yougurt, so I am wondering was it just sold out and they were waiting for more to arrive or did they take it away for good? So if anyone who was recently there can you please help me out? If not I guess I will find out later next month when my family and I are back at WDW and we do plan to eat at Gasparilla's a few times while we are down there.

We are staying at GF in April. I would like to rent a cabana for the morning of our relaxing day. How early can you book one?

The cabana was tipping point to choose GF over Poly. I would like to spend the morning at the pool, and it would be nice to have our own space.

phyllis1966, beautiful photos. :wizard: Thanks for sharing with us.:surfweb:

CRFan, I was reading a dining report from this past week that showed the strawberry yogurt....no sign that it wasn't operating. I hope it is working when you are there.:goodvibes

phyllis1966, beautiful photos!

The castle with the crystal lights is jaw-dropping! We are leaving in 10 days: is that something they do all night or just after the firework show?

Thanks for posting! :yay:

gilsan We always enjoy a cabana too...It is a very relaxing way to spend some time at the pool...the cabana attendants are just wonderful...taking care of everything from drinks to towels...morning half day is from 10am to 2pm...I think you can book this 90 days out but I am not sure....???

Phyllis Beautiful pics...thanks for posting them....:)
