A split stay between the Contemporary and Grand Floridian sounds great, because when it's time to switch resorts it's very easy moving between them.

Carrie, I'd love to do a split stay. I brought it up to DH and he said absolutely not. He's the type of person that once he's comfortable somewhere he's unbudgable.

DH keeps saying just book somewhere, but this past vacation I changed resorts so many times it was embarrassing! This time I want to pick one and stick to it. CR sound very nice being able to watch the castle change colors from the balcony.

Well, not only can you see the castle change colors from your balcony, but if you request and land an odd numbered room, your bed will face the castle and you'll be able to lay in bed and watch the castle change colors! And, if you're like me and get up to go potty in the middle of the night, you'll STILL see the castle changing colors at 4am!!

Hey Carrie, were you in room #4637? Sounds like the same room location I had in April. We were also 10th floor, dead center, MK side. As in, get off the elevator, walk straight and BOOM, room door is there! It was an awesome location!!!

Glad you enjoyed your stay. It's one of my favorite hotels too! Looking to stay there next spring when we go with our boys.

Did they improve/renovate the pool area at CR in the recent past? Is there a shared pool complex with BLT, or does BLT have its own pool area? Thinking into the future about returning here, and were wondering.

CR and BLT each have a pool complex. Not shared. If staying at BLT, you can use facilities at CR. Not the other way around, though.

CR pool area was renovated earlier this year. Additions include a spray play area for kids (very "tomorrowland" ish theme) and the addition of tropical foliage around the area. They didn't do anything to the actual pool or slide, except re-paint.

Here is a picture of the whole pool area since it's renovation and you will notice a lot more trees to make it look more tropical, plus the pool slide was also painted. Also here are pictures of the kids splash play area and of their brand new pool cabanas which are located by the quiet pool and can be rented for the day.

Brergnat: Yes! That was our room exactly!! How funny is that???? I was a bit flipped at first because I do not like being assigned a room near the elevators. I thought we would hear LOTS of noise being in that room, thinking everyone would be having to walk past it. But, like I mentioned, it was very, very quiet. What about for you guys?

Lissiesmum: Nope, no pictures. I thought about taking some but when I thought about it, our stuff was all over the room. I should have taken some before we unpacked. I'm not sure if anyone has ever posted a picture of the "faux fireplace" as I call it. I surely should have taken a picture of that so that others will know what it looks like. What I can say for sure is that all the pictures I've seen of the CR, I don't think the pictures do it justice.

It has been really fun sharing here on this thread. I never imagined loving the CR as much as I do. I hope others that are "on the fence" about where to stay will really consider the CR.

So excited here.. I am 2 weeks away from "going home." We've stayed at CR before, but for our last visit in June we switched things up and stayed at GF.. nice but we just prefer CR and it's been a year since we've stayed at CR.

I can't wait... this countdown reminds me of how I counted down Christmas as a kid.

Does anyone know the open times in the morning for the counter service, Wave and Chef Mickey's for breakfast? My kids wake up really early and I'm wondering when they open for breakfast. I can't seem to find that info anywhere.

Hi Kate

The Contempo Cafe kitchen opens at 7am...but you can get "grab and go" stuff as early as 6am. Chef Mickey's serves breakfast from 7am to 11:30am. I don't know about The Wave...gonna have to try that place out one of these days.

Ha ha! Small world indeed!

And we had NO noise issues either! I had the same initial reaction as you being so near the elevators and convinced that people walking by our room all the time would be horrendous. We heard NOTHING until we opened that door! It was amazing! Loved that room! Especially loved being within 10 steps of the elevator for all those early morning trips down to the coffee kiosk in the lobby.

Chef Mickey's serves breakfast from 7am to 11:30am.

They start right at 7am, that's for sure. We stayed in 4225 on the veery end with Chef Mickey's right outside our door. That 'celebrate' song was my alarm clock of sorts every day While I bet it's fairly quiet staying by the elevators, look out if you're staying on the South end. However, it's a good way to get you up and going for the day

Last December my family and I were in 4802 which is the 2nd last room by Chef Mickey's on the Bay Lake side and we also heard the song, although it didn't bother us.
