Counting down to our first trip to the CR in Sept 2010. :woohoo: The waiting is killing me but as long as I have you guys on the Dis to fill me in w/ any and just about all things Disney I can get my fix until then. Have a great trip and as soon as any of you guys get any new pics of the CR please post them I would love to see them. :lovestruc

At the CR you can refill your mug at the Contempo on the 4th floor. I believe they are open until midnight.
While your right that they close at 12:00 AM when it comes to purchashing something, I don't think they block off the entrance and shut down the drink machines.

Hmm... Looks like you've been there after midnight:drinking1 and I haven't:rolleyes1
Well I haven't been in there after 12:00 AM, but when I would look down to there from the 12th floor the entrances and etc was not blocked off. For example when they had the Tempo Grab & Go the put a rope in front of it blocking the entrance when they closed, so you couldn't get a drink in the mugs. However I do plan to test that out when I am back there this December, so we can have an actual answer to this question.

I am so excited we booked our adr's today and got most of what we wanted. CR will be here before we know it. I am wondering how long it usually takes you to check in to CR. Is there any chance that waiting to check in at the desk will get a free upgrade. I am allready MK view so only club level is what I could upgrade to. If there is little chance of that happening I will prob just do the online checkin. Has anyone here done that and is it much faster. My experience is at CBR and POR it seemed like it took about an hour to check in and get to our rooms.
TIA
Marci

We're staying in the garden wing. I know everything else is in the tower. Are they connected at all? Or at least a covered walkway, or is it out in the open. Not a biggie, but curious.

Honestly whenever free upgrades are given out they are determined a few days before by the Cast Member doing room assignments, so if you get one something will come up in the computer after the Cast Member enters your name.

Hmmmm....I would think that with multiple buildings in a deluxe setting you'd have something. *Shrugs*

Well at the Grand Floridian the only covered walkway I have seen is from the main building towards Gasparilla's Grill & Games, but not to their rooms.

We still don't know where we are staying Summer 2010. DH has been dying to try the CR - I stayed there once way back when with my parents (CR and the Poly were the only choices, so that's a long time ago)

I have some questions.....since its a monorail resort, is the resort just jammed packed with people that are not staying in the resort? I'm wondering if I will get the feeling that I am a guest there or just someone wandering around the resort. Does that make any sense? I didn't notice too much "non guest" traffic at WL. I noticed a little more at YC. When we visit CR for our CM ADR - the concourse is NUTS. I get the same feeling at Poly. Can you tell me the "feeling" of the resort when you are a guest?

Is the 4th floor the only place to refill the mug? I was hoping there'd be something out by the pool. :confused3

I was all set to do the Tower MK view - BUT I'm thinking I'd like the charm of a 1st floor patio room at the GW. I'm sooo confused.

There will be times at night when there are non Contemporary guests waiting for the Resort Monorail, however it's not that bad. Plus since the Contemporary is very popular because of the California Grill, Chef Mickey's and The Wave there will always be a lot of people just visiting to eat at those locations.

Finally the Contempo Cafe on the 4th floor is the only other location where you can refill your mug, so it can not be done at the Sand Bar which is located by their pool.

Another option would be to stay at the Contemporary Resort's Bay Lake Tower. There is a walkway from the CR (4th floor) that enters BLT (5th floor). It requires key card access so it's more secluded. Also, there is a refill station at the pool side bar area (only open during the bar's hours), but it would be very convenient if you're at the BLT pool area.

NOTE: it's a Disney Vacation Club resort, but Disney has about 45% of the rooms undeclared. They are only available for cash reservations.

But don't forget there are no dining locations inside Bay Lake Tower, so if they wanted to refill their mug and the location by the pool was closed they would then need to go into the Contemporary. Now I am sure it's very easy getting to the skybridge, however it's a lot easier when staying in the Contemporary Tower and taking the elevator right to the 4th floor.

Thanks dizfan for throwing BLT into the mix. :lmao: As if I wasn't confused enough. I feel sooooo very amatuer right now..I can't pick a resort, what's wrong with me. :lmao: I just priced it out and its not as outrageous as I thought it would be.

CR Resort Fan 4 Life You're a wealth of information here. Just let me know when my questions start to get ridiculous ;)
