July 2009, Garden Wing, Garden View

IMG_6416.jpg

Our room: Garden Wing, 2nd Floor. We had asked for a First floor, for a patio, and could have gotten that request if we'd been willing to wait a bit longer. As it turned out I was very tired and decided to take this one. We were not disappointed.

The view. They were working on the retaining wall by the water, hence the green fence. We still could see a bit of the water at the entrance to the canal leading from Bay Lake to the water bridge and Seven Seas Lagoon.

The courtyard area was very quiet. On the opposite side of the wing to our left was the pool. It was a very sort/quick walk.

The Daybed. Plenty big for an adult. or a 12 year old boy, in our case.

Entry area. The counter holds the ice bucket/glasses and coffee maker. Below are the fridge (it has a small freezer, just big enough to hold 2 water bottles) and some pull-out shelves, where we stashed the coffee maker for our stay, as well as some snack items, etc.

There are 2 closets. One to the right has a luggage rack/hanging bar. The one to the left has a small dresser with 2 drawers, the safe, which easily could hold more than one laptop--we had on laptop, plus DH's wallet, and some other items in there with room left over. It also had an iron/board.

The bathroom, from the entry area--the door slides, which is a nice space-saver

Toilet the door to this slides closed. There is only one hook in the entire bathroom. It would be great if there were more, and there's plenty of wall space.

4th floor observation area. In the NW corner there's a door leading out to this area. Monorails come in/out overhead and there are 4 benches set up facing MK. We watched Wishes! out there on our arrival night. They even had the music playing on the deck.

mdrob214: Those are some absolutely wonderful photos!!! Thanks so much for sharing them! Looks like you guys had fun! I can't wait for our trip to BLT in December...

We're heading down in 5 weeks  and we are booked in a garden wing garden view room, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay.

I do have 2 questions, (1) do you think a 1/2 gallon of milk could fit in the small frig? (2) do you think a 17" laptop will fit in the safe?

okay, maybe 3 questions:confused3
I didn't know about the 4th floor Observation Deck, what is it near, is it easy to find, can anyone go there?

GREAT PICTURES!!! I love how you got "arriving" shots. Now I have a sense of what it will be like. Any Pool pics? Is the landscaping done around the pool yet?

I can't believe I didn't get any pool shots!! I will look again--I'm sure there are some.

The door to the observation deck is in the opposite corner from Chef Mickeys (NW corner of the resort). There's a small shop back there in the corner (Concourse Sundries & Spirits) that sells food items, wine, etc. (They also sell SD memeory for your camera. $27 for 2G I know this, because we left DS's memory card in my computer at home!) When you come off the escalators, go straight, past Fantasia and its in the back left corner. The walkway to BLT is accessed in the NE corner, or back right corner, (tho observation deck runs the whole north side of the building) as you come off the escalators to the 4th floor. Ask any CM--that's who told us to go check it out: one of the DVC CMs that sits at their table right there at the top of the escalators.

Yes, a 1/2 gallon of milk will fit in the fridge. No problem. I had almost an entire case of water in there, plus some yogurt and a few juice and other drink bottles.

Dh's laptop went into the safe with room to spare--you'll fit a 17" one with no troubles. On top of it we had a few wallets, a camera and my 75-300mm lens plus there was plenty of space. It's a great safe since you can program it to your own pin or use a room key or credit card.

The topiary out by the pool/dock area. That's the sand bar in back on the right. You could get drinks and order some basic food from there. We never actually got around to ordering from there. Restrooms/showers are accessed through that breezeway and Lockers are available ( I think for $1 or $1.50, we used one on check out day but I forget)

Looking back from the boat dock (it was lightly raining when I took this, as we waited for a boat to Ft Wilderness and HDDR) You can just see the pool slide to the right of that cabana (and back a ways--it's in the main pool)

A view of BLT next door, with the marina docks in the foreground

Hammocks by the beach in front of the Garden Wing were peaceful to lay in one afternoon. There is a sand volleyball court--you can get a ball by showing your room key at the marina office. The deck you see is the quiet pool. Those are the cabanas that are for rent (I think $190/day or half-day) No one rented them, that I saw, while we were there. They were closed off for the rain but were open when the weather was nice. They had a fridge, tv, 2 lounge beds and 2 cushioned lounge chairs. Very nice.

Beautiful flowers left in our room from the Disney Florist. They were from the CMs at the font desk, because we had some trouble with our tickets. THey smelled wonderful! I hated to leave them in FL.

A detail of that vase--which I DID bring home!

The White Chocolate Monorail ($40 from the CR private dining) that was my DH's birthday 'cake'.

And a shot from inside on the 4th floor (where Chef Mickey's, the gift shops, and Contempo Cafe are located)

The landscaping looked done to me! LOL They still had a fence around the splash area but I heard a CM say it was due to open the 1st of August, to coincide with BLT opening, basically.

I have some more pics to upload and I can post views from the SeaRaycers. We had a blast on those!

mdrob214, thanks for responding to my questions so quickly and for the additional pics. The flowers were beautiful and the vase was cute, glad you got to keep that.

I'm really hoping the splash/play area will be open when we get there, maybe I can relax in one of those hammocks while my guys are in the pool.:cloud9:

Also, can't wait to see your pictures of/on the sea racers, are these the same as mouseboats(?).

We left last Saturday and the splash area was opened already. The kids were having a ball playing in it.

That is fabulous news. Thanks for posting it. Now all I am waiting for is the Playground to open. Last I saw it was scheduled to re-open Sept. 1st. Unfortunately my trip is the beginning of August. :worried:

I know Allearsnet is reporting that the playground will re-open in September, however Intercot is reporting that it's re-opening on August 4, which is the same day Bay Lake Tower is opening. So I guess we will wait and see which site is correct.

How close are the garden wing rooms to the pool? For example can you see the pool from some of the garden wing rooms? Is it that close? Does anyone have any pictures of their garden rooms that show the proximity the the pool. TIA
