The ALL NEW Disney's Contemporary Resort FAQ with PICTURES! (APR 2009)

If someone can point me to a post with this information, thank you. I have been searching for *literally* hours.

Allearsnet.com has the latest room service menu updated sometime in 2007. I imagine it has changed since then and I have a couple of questions. We are trying to decide between regular DDP and DxDDP and room service availability and options will definitely play into that :) Thanks for any help you all can provide!

1. Anyone have pictures of the new menu or can you tell me what's on it?
2. Does the food come from the Wave or Cali Grill? Can you order from the Cali Grill menu?
3. We will have 2 children with us and I was hoping to be able to put them to bed and then have a nice meal on the balcony - is this possible?
4. We will be staying at BLT and my understanding is that the same room service that is offered to Contmpo guests will be offered to BLT guests. Is that correct?
5. Does anyone have pictures of food or *specialty* items ordered from room service. DH who isn't into Disney that much saw a picture of a chocolate mickey with chocolate covered stawberries and said "We are sooo getting that!" I think the boys would love it.

Thank you so much! We are really really looking forward to our Oct vacation!

1. I don't have any pictures but others on here said they would be posting some.

2. From what I remember seeing the items come from The Wave and the Contempo Cafe.

3. I am not sure if all the Bay Lake Tower rooms come with a balcony, however all the Contemporary Tower rooms have them.

4. Yes that is correct.

5. I don't have any pictures so hopefully someone else will have them.

According to the baylaketower.net website, all the BLT rooms will have balconies; the studios and 1-BR have one balcony, while the 2-BR has 2 balconies, and the grand villa has 4.

Sorry, I don't have any info on any of the other questions, but I am sure someone on this website will, they have a LOT of information here! Good Luck!

Thank you for your CR TR!

It looks like the CC is still getting mixed reviews. Sorry to hear that your HS bus wait was quite long; I can't imagine what it might be like after BLT opens...

There was another thread regarding this subject. The old north wing had approximately 354 rooms (counting on an old map) and there are supposedly going to be 295 villas in the new tower. Granted, some of the villas will hold a few more people than the maximum five in the old wing rooms, but I really don't foresee a huge difference when BLT opens vs. when the north wing rooms were open.

It's possible that they adjusted the bus coverage down a little while the available room count was down. I've never had a problem with buses at CR, with the exception of DTD and they're a problem pretty much everywhere (we always drive to DTD).

As to the idea of restricting BLT to KTTW access only . . . .what they could do if they wanted to, would be to require key access in the elevators (like they do to the club level in the tower). People would be able to access the lobby area, but go no farther. Not saying they will do that, in fact I imagine they will just have KTTW access during the overnight hours like the other resorts do. But they could do it if they wanted to. I've stayed at resorts such as BCV, where there were no real amenities for public use (no shops, no restaurants, no health club, etc.) and the doors were not secured during the day - only at night. Personally, I like it set up with the amenities in the deluxe resort and not in the DVC resort - it makes the DVC resort much calmer and quieter.

It will be intresting to see what happens with the bus sharing because in the mornings the Contemporary shares with either the Polynesian or Wilderness Lodge. Then in the afternoons they share with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. I don't see them giving the Contemporary their own buses since Bay Lake Tower guests will still need to get on the buses from the Contemporary bus station, so I guess they need to wait and see what the numbers are like after it opens.

It's been so long since the north wing was fully occupied, that I don't recall if the buses were shared the same way or not. But I don't remember having a problem with them at that time. I'm sure they'll keep an eye on it and adjust accordingly. I don't think they would separate BLT and CR as far as buses go, but they might rethink the combinations they do between WL, Poly, GF, and CR/BLT and make some adjustments. Fortunately for me, my favorite parks are MK and Epcot - both easy to get to from CR/BLT.

Actually even when the North Garden Wing was still open they were doing the same bus combinations.

So now I finally get it!! We just had our first stay at CR last week and absolutely loved it:love: The theming never really appealed to me but after experiencing it...my DH and I are now converted. We booked a std garden wing room and I was secretly hoping to be upgraded to the tower but not counting on it. No dice...we stayed in the garden wing first floor near the pool and LOVED it! We were greeted at our glass doors by 2 ducks and a bunny! It was so nice to be able to open those doors and be outside and a few steps from the pool, beach and most importantly...the bar! The room was huge and beautiful. Our only complaint was housekeeping. When we got into our room the floor had broken chips all over it...like it hadn't even been vacumed and lots of dust on lamps, etc. We called and someone came within 15 minutes to vacume. The next day the service was a bit better and it did not ruin our trip at all. We only stayed 2 nights before we checked into OKW but can't wait to plan another trip here.;)

Thanks for posting your review and it's great to hear you had a wonderfull time staying there, plus now that your converted Contemporary fans.

I remember one of our Dis'ers took a beautiful picture of the CR and the BLT while parasailing. Can anyone direct me to it ...I can't find it anywhere!!! Ugh!!
TIA!!!:thumbsup2

So we were booked at the Contemporary MK View for 11/29 through 12/9/2009 but cancelled because we just bought into Disney Vacation Club at Bay Lake Tower. I'm a little disappointed cause I was really looking forward to our stay in the tower with the MK view, but I'm glad to be a DVC member at BLT. Maybe one day we'll splurge and get a room for a night or two in the Tower MK view.

Just wanted to say thanks and how beneficial this thread was, while planning and anticipating our trip. Hope to see everyone around the main resort! :)

Looking at your signature I see you will be at Bay Lake Tower the exact same days you were to be staying at the Contemporary, plus you will also be a skybridge away from the 4th floor of the Tower. Also were you not able to get a Magic Kingdom View at Bay Lake Tower?

Congrats on your BLT purchase Val !!! Sorry to hear you had to cancel your upcoming trip.....hope you'll be making plans at your "new home" real soon!!!!!:thumbsup2

We are staying at BLT during the same dates we originally planned at the CR. Right now we could only get a studio with a Bay Lake view, but are wait listed for a MK View. Either way I'm happy, I'll be at WDW. This was the most economical way for us to enjoy our favorite resort for the next 50 years!
