I've just received the current copy of the DVC magazine and it confirms that there will be no pool hopping allowed over at Bay lake Towers
I guess you can not get more official then that. Also does it say no pool hopping for Contemporary guests along with any Disney Vacation Club members staying at other DVC Resorts?

Op, thanks for such a great, informative thread!! I am really excited about staying here.

Just a few quick questions-

If the monorail only runs until 12 am, will it be a problem getting back to the resort on the night that Epcot is open until 12?

Where do you get the refillable mugs?

Anyone have a more recent menu for in room service than the one listed at allears?

Any updates or new pictures of the work being done on the pool area?

Thanks so much!! :goodvibes

Despite the sign says 12:00 AM add a few extra hours because of when Magic Kingdom has Evening Extra Magic Hours and I have seen the Resort Monorail operate past 12:00 AM.

You purchase the mugs at the Contempo Cafe.

I don't have any updates for the room service menu, however others from here said they would take pictures of it and list any updates.

As for the pool Craig - TMIP was just at the Contemporary this past weekend and is going to post some pictures he took of it.

Thank you for your quick reply!! I feel better now about the monorail. Couldn't imagine Disney letting us all be stranded but you never know... ;)

You're welcome and no WDW would not leave anyone stranded, lol. Although at least if you were coming back very late from the Magic Kingdom they have the walkway which goes to the Contemporary, so you have another option when returning there.

I took a picture from 2007 and put it on top of a photo from June 2009. It looks like they did a minor rehab on the pool itself by just painting and cleaning. You can see the new kiddie play area still under construction in an area that used to be a planter. There is also a new round palm tree area near the quiet pool that wasnt there before. Near the bottom of the pool there is a hot tub. I cant remember if that was always there or not?

All last weekend the quiet pool was closed. I have no idea why!!!!!!!!!!!????????????

Craig thanks for posting phots and about the hot tub that was there before, because you can see it in this picture I took in December 2008 before the pool renovations had started.

Your photo looks like a postcard!

It must have decreased CR revenue to close the quiet pool since the cabanas would have to be closed as well. I remember you mentioned once that you and your wife love the quiet pool, so that must have been disappointing to have it closed.

CRF4L, I'm glad your photo is just after mine, because it is much easier to compare old to new than the old one I had.
I see in yours that the portable bathrooms are still there. Those are gone! By the way, the new pool baths are beautiful! I know that sounds crazy, but the pool baths are nicer than in the building. Very modern fixtures and flooring!

WDWKook, thanks for the compliment about the picture!
We were a little disappointed about the pool being closed, but we rented a boat instead, since its been close to 2 years since we have. So, Dina got some great shots of BLT over by the lake where the Sammy Duvall area is.

Craig Thanks for the pool update and the comparison pics!:thumbsup2

I too wonder why the Bay Lake pool was closed...were you planning on trying a cabana...I am curious if they are going to be like the ones at the GF with a cabana attendant and all....?

Looks like they are changing most of the trees to a more tropical variety...I think it will be very nice once its finally done!

Glad to hear that they updated the pool bathrooms...they have been the same for as long as I can remember...and that is a long time!!!

Glad that you and your wife got to enjoy some time boating...:)

The new pool is looking great! :thumbsup2 Now if they'd only put in some of those swing benches like they have on the beaches at the Poly, GF and BC. It'd be perfect! :goodvibes

You know I was always confused when the CR pool was referred to as a "mickey" pool because no matter how I looked at it, it just was NOT shaped like Mickey's head. Now from the photo above I can see it once did and must have been changed at some point to make it a little bigger which caused it to lose it's shape. Funny. Or is the angle of the photo that much of a trick?

Maybe it's a "contemporary" artsy version of Mickey...

Thanks for posting that information.

I love the pictures of the pool.We are going the end of august and hope the kids splash area is done. Keep my fingers crossed.

It doesn't mention CR guests but you can assume that if they are not allowing other DVC members in there they won't allow CR guests over there.

Not necessarily ... DVC members can't pool hop to BC/BCV or AK/AKV, but "regular" hotel guests at each one can use both pools, can't they? If that's the case, then I would think there's still the possibility that CR guests will be able to use the BLT pool. :confused3

I think the difference with BC/BCV is that the one pool is shared by both resort and DVC guests. Not sure what is going to happen over at AKV as I have a friend who told me that you need your room key to access the pool area over at Kidanni so it might be that only DVC members staying over at Jambo House can use the Kidanni pool.

As BLT and the CR would each have their own pool, and the walkway between BLT and CR will be key access for BLT guests only, my guess is that the BLT pool will only be for BLT guests.

I guess we'll have to wait until the resort opens to know for sure

Well, BCV does have its own pool, but it's just a quiet pool w/out a slide or anything "cool" like BLT will have, so that alone may make the difference.

I agree. And after the period of adjustment when BLT opens, hopefully things will settle down and guests at both sides of the resort will be happy with the way everything shakes out. :goodvibes

Well that would make sense because for a long time I have seen the discussion said that the Bay Lake Tower pool would be to small for allowing Contemporary guests to swim there, so it makes sense if they don't allow other DVC members to swim there that are staying at other DVC Resorts.

I also wish they would block access for DVC members to swim at the Contemporary pool because if they got denied access to the Bay Lake Tower then what if someone says let's just swim at the Contemporary. However I would not mind if they kept the rule saying Bay Lake Tower guests can swim at the Contemporary since that has already been mentioned as something they can do. Personally I think it makes sense because it might cause even more over crowding to the Contemporary pool with the Contemporary guests and for those from Bay Lake Tower if they choose to swim there, so what do you think?
