Is there a map of the floorplan for the south wing at the CR---one that shows the actual room numbers?

I tried a search but couldn't find the result, and don't have the patience to look through over 200 pages on this thread.

Thanks!

One more question.....any way to know which rooms are garden wing/standard view and garden wing/garden view?

The garden wing standard will be on the right side as you enter the first set of doors in the garden wing. They will have a view of the parking lot or perhaps the monorail. The garden wing gardenview will have a view of the marina, pool, gardens, or even perhaps a little view of bay lake.
Hope this helps.

MHTeacher,
Even though this map doesn't actually list the room numbers for the Garden Wing building, here is the updated version of it with Bay Lake Tower and it's the exact one you will get at check-in.

Never stayed at CR, so not really sure about these double doors. :confused3 Do you mean where you would enter if you left the tower and followed the walkway to the south wing? The rooms on the right are std. view? If I'm interpretting that correctly, are there not very many garden wing/std. view rooms? It looks as if most those rooms would have a view of the pool, or Bay Lake?

Dixie Landings (POR) was the first on-site resort we stayed in back in 1996. For my DD's first trip when she was 3 in '01, we also stayed at DL (it will always be Dixie Landings to me). We've not stayed since '01, but we might stay this year for one night for our "late arrival night" (if we drive straight through) since CSR is already booked (they have queen beds:)).

The DL theming/landscaping is beautiful and the food court is great and they have lots of recreational activities. It's too bad they only serve dinner now at the restaurant and that they don't have queen beds like CSR, but other than that, I think it's the nicest Mod. I would suggest that if you are going at a crowded time and you'll have a car, I would personally drive instead of taking the bus.

Enjoy your vacation and the savings:teacher:

Thanks! And thankfully we will have our own car!

We leave on Wednesday or our annual trip! My dd 22 months will be taking naps back at the room. I know we can take him swiimming. What activities can ds4 do with dh while she naps?

Yes, you are correct. When you walk out of the tower, you will follow the covered walkway to the right and go into the south wing. The rooms on the right side of the hallway are considered the standard view. You are also correct that there are very few of them. My DS4 actually liked these because he was able to see the monorail. :) Most of the other rooms are views of the gardens, pool, Bay Lake, or marina.

When we stay at the CR, are we allowed to play shuffleboard or bocce ball at BLT?

No, I don't think so. You need a key to access BLT and even to get back into BLT from the area that includes those activities.

BCV23 is correct. BLT guests may use all of the CR's amenities, but CR guests cannot use any of the BLT amenities. Furthermore, if you're staying on a cash reservation at the BLT (as opposed to DVC points) you can't use the TOTWL or the community room.

However, even though the tennis courts are "behind" BLT, I believe they are a shared amenity since they were originally part of the CR and were torn down to build BLT and then re-built.

Thanks!:thumbsup2 That helps. So looking at the map, the std. rooms seem to be 5152-5168 (5252-5268, 5352-5368) . Does that sound correct? Also, do you remember your std. view room number? I'm leaning toward a first floor request, so we can have a patio, or would it be better to be higher, since we will probably have a parking lot view?

Thinking we may stay at CR during our May trip, but will just want the std. view. I've realized during our past eight trips that while a view may be nice, we really just don't stay in the room enough to merit its cost.

I have a question. In some pics of Contemporary, I saw a picture of an escalator (mispelled? sorry) and stairswith a sign above that said to Restuarants. Is this in the lobby? I don't remember seeing this when I was there in '08. Where is this?? We are in the Garden Wing this time and it would be much faster to use this instead of waiting on the elevator for the 4th floor if busy. Thanks!!

We didn't spend much time enjoying our "garden" view either, but there simply weren't any standard view rooms when we booked. I suspect this is very common ... those rooms are a considerable value with an AP discount, especially when you consider a family of 5 like ours.:cool1:

I also want to comment that you may well find that a first floor request will be very pleasant as the walk area between the garden building and the parking lot is very heavily planted. You will not likely be gawking at license plates. :scared1:

Here is a (convention) map of the 2nd floor showing the escalator.

When you are checking-in one set of escalators are behind you. These escalators go as high as the Concourse, but you have to get off at the 2nd floor and walk around to the next set that go to the Concourse.

To take it from the garden wing, you would have to climb the tall, steep flight of stairs that are outside the back of the Tower building (next to the garden wing and facing the pool) that lead to the 2nd floor convention area. From here you can take the escalator up to the 4th floor.

The other escalator on the opposite side of the CR on the Concourse level, near the bathrooms and elevators, only goes to the monorail platform.
