The Alaska Wonder-Land Adventure Cruise -August 4, 2014 -ROLL CALL!!

I was booked, then canceled, and am now rebooked. It's my 7 year old son and me. We are in an inside so I could afford it. I am going to research low cost, non DCL excursions. I'm trying to figure out hotel and transfers. Does DCL have transportation to and from port? Any hotels DCL is using that they will pick up from? Thank you for your help! Looking forward to the cruise!

Edited. Sorry. Typos.

Just now in the process of getting our passports. There is an option for passport "card".. What exactly is that?! Also trying to decide on whether we will fly into Seattle to visit sis first. Wondering how the whole border thing will effect the ride. Somewhere I seen Amtrack was suggested as a better alternative to a bus? Any input?

The U.S. Passport Card can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports-of-entry and is more convenient and less expensive than a passport book. The passport card cannot be used for international travel by air.

No idea on the Amtrack vs bus :confused3

This link from page one has a lot of good FAQ's provided by Caitlinsdad has a lot of great info and may cover that as well. CLICKY HERE

OMG Im So excited!! I Love these posts!! I just want to cruise with you all the time!!

Me too!!! I need to get my act in gear and figure out excursions. Between planning our other upcoming trips I feel like Dug from UP. *** :surfweb: Must buy tix for Newsies and Book of Mormon during NYC Dreams ABD/DVC trip :squirrel: Book hotel in Edinburgh and B&B in Inverness before the London/Paris ABD :surfweb: can't forget the travel arrangements from Edinburgh to Inverness and then to London :squirrel: Compare all available Alaska excursions :surfweb: for each port :squirrel: Check out trip advisor :surfweb: for coolest things to do in Vancouver over the weekend before the cruise :squirrel: Book dining reservations :surfweb: for NY visit

That sounds like a plan! Maybe a Mediterranean cruise at some point! Or another Maiden Voyage!

Well hello there fellow cruisers!!!! I have been absent for a while! I guess I need to get my butt in gear to do some final planning on this cruise, as well! Unfortunately, we started this out as a family vacation and now I think we will have to leave the kiddo's at home. :( But, I'm still trying to figure out a way to make it work to where they can still come with.

I think I'll start looking at excursions again.....I got a little overwhelmed last time I tried looking. So much to do and so unsure of what's really worth the cost of doing it.

I'm starting to look at hotels and trying to decide when we'll arrive in Vancouver. If the DH can get Friday and Saturday off, we may drive up on Friday. If not, it'll have to be Sunday.

I'm also looking in to where to park the car. Parking at the port is CRAZY expensive.

Hi Debbie! We are also still in the planning stages. I think I have narrowed down our excursions. Between Cruise Critic, Trip Advisor and Googling the name of the excursion with the word Disboard included I was able to see reviews from other cruisers and get a general idea of what I'd like to do.

Juneau - Disney Exclusive dog sledding experience. This one is crazy expensive but I REAAAAALLLYYYY want to do it. There are 2 other dog sledding excursions in Juneau that are about $150 less than this one. I understand that dog sledding in Juneau is one of the most frequently cancelled excursions due to weather so I still need to come up with a back up plan.

Ketchikan - Misty Fjords Boat & Floatplane.

Skagway - Grizzly Falls ziplining

Hi Karen! We are flying in on Friday. I am trying to decide what we should do while we are in Vancouver for the weekend. I'm torn between exploring Vancouver and doing some walking tours and going to Whistler for a day. Decisions ... decisions ...

If you know where you may be staying you might want to contact the hotel and see if they have a stay, cruise and park package available or choose a hotel that does. I would also suggest checking out Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor to see what others have suggested with regards to parking options.

Hi Terrie!

Well, you have two days right? You could do both. :thumbsup2

I've been looking for places with a stay/park/cruise package. I did read something that said that most hotels will let you park for a fee. So, at least there are a lot of options. I'm now just trying to find the best one. :goodvibes

Wally and I talked about it last night. He wants to save going to Whistler when we can spend more time there and make it a separate vacation. Looks like we will be exploring the Vancouver area :goodvibes

Probably a good idea. You're talking about a four hour round trip to Whistler and back. That's a lot of time in a car or bus when you could be exploring Vancouver instead. :drive:

Very true. I've also been contemplating travel hacking the Fairmont at some point. Looks like the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler will be the goal for that particular travel hack :lmao:
