the age old hair/make-up questions....

I'm sure this question has been asked a bazillion times...but "Searching" didn't turn up a whole lot for me, so I'm asking it again!!

I'm looking for someone to do hair/makeup..and although the price is super reasonable, I'm not sure I want to go with who Orlando Weddings (my wedding coordinator) generally uses. I have extremely fair, sensitive skin, and it's hard for me to just choose someone at random. I certainly don't want to turn out all red and blotchy on my wedding day (turns out I react horribly to Aveda make-up...learned that as a bridesmaid last summer).

Would anyone be willing to share the list of hair/make-up pros that Disney provides?

Also, if you have used someone from the Disney list, do you have any info on their pricing? I've found some websites but service prices aren't listed. We will be staying on Disney property, so I'm guessing travel expenses would be the same. BUT--as I've mentioned in previous posts, we're on a major budget. I just don't think I can afford $300 for just my hair and make-up.

Finally--if you've had a fabulous or awful experience with someone--please share! Thanks!! :goodvibes

I'm also extremely fair and have sensitive skin. I used Patricia Lejeune (www.lejeune-pca.com), who is not on Disney's list. She charges $50 for hair, $50 for makeup and a $50 travel fee (but it is waived when she comes out for a trial run, if you do one). Airbrush makeup is $60 and mineral makeup is $55.

I liked how seamless the airbrush makeup was, since I have a heckuva time finding foundation that matches my skintone. I also liked how open to my suggestions Patricia was, and I was really happy with my wedding-day hair and makeup.

Here's Disney's list of vendors who will come to your room. I contacted most of them last fall, so I'll put in prices for the ones I heard back from:

Hey use Beaute Speciale...here is the website

www.beautespeciale.com......I used Ana,loved her to dath, she listened and was so easy to talk to. She did a great job with my makeup I have fair skin too and she did my make up great.I told her natural but gorgeous and she did it.I was very happy with them and they use MAC makeup which is what I use so that was even better,

Beaute Speciale seemed the most up to date to me with the website... I forgot to mention Carrie used Patricia Lejune(Spelling) and her hair and makeup was beautiful.

Oh haha Carrie posted haha, sorry Carrie :)

Carrie always has all the answers -- seriously, I think she has all these pages bookmarked for when we all ask 49 times about info! :rotfl:

As for the makeup -- I think I'm going to do mine myself...I mean, I would love to have a professional do it, but...I want to look like myself...you know? :confused3 I might get some of that model in a bottle that carrie used too!

Nah - I just never got rid of all the files I accumulated during wedding planning. I even have a comparison chart from when I was trying to find a makeup artist (cuz I'm nerdy like that)! :rotfl:

Thanks ladies!

Carrie--you're a rockstar!!! :thumbsup2 Thank you so much for that list!!

I looked at the Beaute Speciale website, since I remembered a lot of DISbrides used them. I'm sure they would do whatever I wanted..but I have to say the "portfolio" models looked a bit more....edgy...then I think my face could handle.

I think I'm between Patricia Lejeune and Beaute Speciale... I'm super surprised by their prices--they are just about the same as what Orlando Weddings recommended. I'd much rather go with someone I KNOW can handle a fair-skinned beauty. :goodvibes

Alissa-- totally thought about doing my own make-up, then I realized I suck at doing make-up. And I'm totally hopeless with hair. Especially in Florida humidity!! I figured it was worth the money for me to have one less thing to worry about! Knowing me I'd go into some hysterical rant yelling, "I'm hideous!! HIDEOUS!!" and end up on the floor in the fetal position. So not what I have in mind for my wedding. :rotfl:

I loved Beaute Speciale. I'm pretty fair myself, and they did a great job. I wasn't edgy at all. Actually, parts of me wished the makeup was a little edgier! :thumbsup2

Me too! Actually, I have dreams that I'm stuck all by myself without someone to do my hair and makeup and DM keeps coming and asking me, "Why aren't you ready yet? Your dad is pissed." Then the wedding planner comes and gives me a hard time about not being ready and that everyone is waiting because of me. One dream I had was that my MOH, BM, and DM all left me in my underwear in a public bathroom at the Wilderness Lodge. And my dress wasn't there, so I was stuck. They had gone off running, along with the makeup artist, because Fergie (from the black eyed peas) was there and everyone wanted to just watch and see what she was doing and I had to walk through the hotel to try and find them.

I think it's funny that with all of the planning and details of the wedding, my hair is all that I'm apparently subconciously worried about. :hippie:

Hair can totally make or break the day. I'm with you all the way. ::yes::

Nearly 7 years later, what do I remember most about prom? How much I hated my hair. Seriously.

Although maybe that just means my prom was a big bag of lame? :confused3

Hahaha! I definitely understand what you are saying there! My first prom I payed $100 something for the girl to make me look like a poodle crapped ribbons on top of my head. "Big bag of lame" is my new favorite saying.

Bestla,
Regardless of whom you decide to use for your hair and makeup I suggest that you find some photos from magazines or other sources that reflect the look you want to achieve. One photo could have the intensity of the eye makeup that you like, another the skin or lips. As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Your idea of "soft and pretty" may be entirely different from how the makeup artist perceives those same words, but the photos will put you both on the same page. Also, if you have the makeup artist stop at a point that is a bit less than you discussed, you will have more flexability with the finished look. It is much easier (and less messy!) to add a bit more to the eyes, lips or cheeks than it is to take away too much! Best of luck with all your other wedding plans. Relax and enjoy!

I may be the only one but I used About Face! I had Naomi... VERY sweet and very calming! For my hair and makeup and also my mother's hair and makeup, it was around $250. I highly recommend them though, and especially Naomi. My hair and makeup looked great throughout my Epcot photoshoot and a very windy ceremony and still looked great that night! My makeup was "pretty" natural which is what I was going for, with pinks and light purples. :)
