The Adventurosity Club

Amy, the story was terrific. I, too was holding my breath in anticipation. I didn't know you tried for the Mom's panel. Did you make it past the first round? I'm definately entering again next year. I had a perfect answer for my "tip" and forgot it at the last minute and used a really lame one. I actually wasn't terribly surprised that I didn't advance.

Actually I don't think my entry ever went through. Our CM friend from Disney sent me a letter and thought I'd be interested...and might would be a good choice with all our kids at such varied ages.....so I entered. I don't remember much, but I wrote up my entry and went I submitted it the computer went S......L......O.......W! I thought maybe my computer just locked up or something. So I tried again and immediately I got the reply was that they had just reached their maximum number of entries. Literally I was seconds late...... I guess that was why the computer was slow. Anyway....just another example of Fleagle luck. :confused3

That Stinks!

What is the "Mom's Panel"?

Cat, do a search for WDW Mom's panel to find the website (I don't know the exact address). It's a group that is selected by Disney to answer WDW travel questions via the internet. The panel this year was I think 12 people (1 man and 12 women). Next year they are putting 16 on the panel. The winners get a trip to Disney and a year serving on the panel. It sounds like lots of fun! For the entry they asked 3 questions and you had to answer in 100 words or less.

I think there might be a thread on the Dis about it too. That was how I found out that I didn't make the 1st cut. People had already gotten their next questions. I do have to confess...although I really didn't think I had a chance, I did check my spam folder for several days just to make sure :)

That's a pretty neat website...and lucky panel members! Mrs. Fleagle should have been a shoe-in!! We'll just have to all keep our eyes open for the next Mom's Panel contest and make sure she doesn't miss the deadline!

Mrs. Fleagle - that DOES stink that you got that message right when you submitted your entry. I would be so upset!!

Good morning everyone. I'm just settling in with my diet coke :drinking1 to check e-mail. I'm not completely unpacked, but I'm feeling more myself now so it's been easier to get things done and carve out some time for reconnecting.

So no one answered my question about podcasts. Does anyone listen to the Disney ones? We went to Indiana a few weeks ago to surprise Mrs. Balloon Guy for her birthday. She was shocked. She'd actually called me a few days before teasingly asking me to come for her BD. I struggled to keep the secret but I managed it. A friend called her that morning to "borrow a crockpot" so when the door rang early she was expecting someone else. Her face was stunned and then she and I both started screaming. What fun! Anyway, there is a connection to this story...

We listened to Disney podcasts all the way there (7+ hours). The one that we loved was a Lou Mongella (Mongello?) one that he did with one of the Sherman brothers (who wrote so many of the wonderful Disney songs we love). Jeff and I were both so touched that we were sitting there in the dark car with him driving and both of us wiping our eyes. If you get a chance to listen to it, I highly recommend it. He talked about so many personal interactions with Walt and stories behind the songs.

Okay, there is also a connection in this story to the Mom's panel which was actually the reason that I brought it up. On the way home we listened to one of Lou's podcasts where he had a discussion with quite a few members of the current Mom's panel. That was really interesting too.

Enjoy your day everyone. I'm off to run errands and then hopefully meet Jeff for lunch before putting Miss B down for a nap so I can continue unpacking some of our umpteenthousand book boxes.

I particularly love the Be Our Guest, Inside the Magic and WDW Radio podcasts. Since there are literally dozens of them out there I occasionally listen to others as well. I have three favorite web sites as well (besides here of course!) - 2719hyperion.blogspot.com, imaginerding.com and ifwecandreamit.blogspot.com. They are three sweet places for trivia, history, book reviews and general Disney enthusiasm.

OK, I got this idea from Family Fun Magazine -- I love their crafts!

I painted last night and then DD and I finished this morning. She really enjoyed putting the peas and mashed potatoes on.

So you just turn the plate each day to show how many more days to go!

Pretty cool, eh?

Circus Girl, thanks for the suggestions on places to get other podcasts. I'll definately check them out.

Marshay, I love FF too (but either my subscription has run out or it's never caught up to us with the move). What an adorable TG craft.

The Dean came to Jeff's office yesterday and offered us tickets to the WVU/Auburn game tonight. We found a sitter and we're going. BRRRRRR!

Yeah to find a sitter! Esp in a new place...enjoy the game!

Did you guys know......

THAT I WILL BE AT WDW IN JUST 6 DAYS????

Just wanted to keep you updated!

Marshay - that plate is too cute!! What a neat idea to get excited about Thanksgiving!

I was thinking about you the other day when DH and I were shopping for new bedroom furniture...Whatever happened to the dining room set you were disputing with your credit card company about?

How exciting! I need a WDW fix in the worst way. When times are tough WDW is always the answer to the problem. Wish we were all independantly wealthy and could go all the time.

Woo Hoo!!! I'm so excited for you and definitely want to read your TR and see your pics!

I was thinking about you the other day when DH and I were shopping for new bedroom furniture...Whatever happened to the dining room set you were disputing with your credit card company about?

Well, as it all played out, we ended up getting the furniture for free. :cool1:
Our credit company sent a letter/notice to the furniture company saying that they will credit us the $$ and the reasons why, unless it was disputed. They had 45 bd to dispute and did not. Then our credit card company wanted us to keep the furniture for 2 years (!) or ship it to them at our cost:scared1: .

I consulted a lawyer and he said to do whatever the cc co says, since they are my representative. When I told the cc that, they came back 3 days later and said in writing that the credit is permanent and I have no further obligations nor will they be my rep anymore. I can do whatever I want with the furniture.

So we are keeping it for now (esp since we don't have anything else and DH doesn't have a job yet). I actually still like the furniture - just didn't want to pay full price for something that was damaged. However, to get it for free -- :cool1:

My DH was able to fix the holes under the table and we'll just have to decide whether it's worth it to fix the scratch in the glass sometime in the future and the gauge on the top of the china cabinet. The small holes on top of the table can be covered with a tablecloth or runner or placemat ... or just ignored. No one will know but us of all the scratches in the chairs since a lot of them are on the side or underneath.

So overall -- we made out fine. 12 pieces of new (damaged) furniture for nothing except the aggravation of 5 months working it out. ;)

How exciting! I need a WDW fix in the worst way. When times are tough WDW is always the answer to the problem. Wish we were all independantly wealthy and could go all the time.

Hear! Hear!

Suz - the other way to find podcasts is to go to the ITunes Store. If you search Disney many podcasts will come up. There will be a link to subscribe.

Ok, so I had to share this with all of you -- I knew my DIS buddies would understand the most ---

I've been dreamed!!!
Yes, it finally happened to me -- in the Year of a Million Dreams, I got an official dream!! :cool1:

And what's really cool, is that this is my very first Mickey Ears!! Like the real kind!!

DSC_0927.jpg

Now I haven't told you the bestest part yet!
I got these Mickey ears in the mail -- but they were not from Disney.

Heather (Circusgirl) actually received them in the mail and in her INCREDIBLE generosity and exemplary Disney spirit, she so kindly bestowed them on me.

 :cool1: WOW!! :cool1:

Heather wrote this wonderful letter on Polynesian Resort letterhead even (!) and obviously she filled the box with all kinds of Disney magic and Pixie Dust because I immediately felt like a little kid living out a fantasy! And now I so can't wait to go back to Disney again -- I thought I had it bad before -- that was nothing!

So once again, Heather, these 2 words cannot express my appreciation, joy and excitement but they are completely sincere: THANK YOU!

This is so awesome--your Dream Ears look so good Marshay! It just proves how special the magic really is, especially when it is extended through a friend! Congratulations!!! :woohoo:

And Circusgirl, you are amazing! :goodvibes
