For both of you a question. I saw one of the songs performed (I actually think it was this one) on the Macy's parade one year and really thought I'd love to see Wicked. A friend loaned me the book. Now, I'm not a prude, but it really had some VERY risque' parts. Was the show anything like that at all or is it family friendly enough for a young teen? How about the soundtrack?
I have the book as well.......and don't worry.....the show is not nearly as 'dark' as the book or inappropriate in any way. The show has a whimsical feel throughout.
My 10 and 12 year old have been hearing me sing every lyric since 2004. And my daughter held my hand through the whole show (we just saw it a couple of weeks ago) and she just hugged me and thanked me and we cried right after "Defying Gravity" (quite a show stopper).
The show is very funny, touching and actually teaches some nice lessons about what is important.
If you are at all unsure, you can view the entire show in portions on YouTube. Not the best quality, but you can get a real feel for the pace and tone of the musical.
Please let me know after you see it!!! You will love it, I am just sure of that!!!
