black is the absence of color and true black can not be seen. You can only see the outline of it against something else.

Another useless factoid:
The word absent and absenteeism comes from Absinthe, which is now illegal to sell in the US. Absinthe's main active ingredient is wormwood which contains thujone, the same fun stuff that's present in marijuana. I have my Absinthe imported from Germany, which is not illegal. Fun Stuff!!

Waking came from times past when utensils and cups were made from lead. People could get paralized and would be put out to "wake" for a few days to see if they were really dead or in a lead induced stupor(only theydid not realize this)
