Hi Friends,

I just got back from the hospital - my step-father went in to have his pacemaker battery changed. He had been out of breath the last few days but we thought it was because he needed the new battery. They were going to send him home today but he still was not breathing well and I insisted they bring in a pulmonary team. They discovered he has fluid on his lungs and said he has congestive heart failure. He has emphysema which doesn't help matters. I will know more tomorrow when I talk to the team, but I was given the news by a Resident who seemd to make things sound somewhat dire. But I know people can live with congestive heart failure, right? I'm sorry I'm writing a novel here but I've come home to an empty house and I'm ridden with fear. My mom just passed away in February and my father passed away last Easter. I just can't bear to lose someone else.

Could you please say a prayer that my father gets better? Thanks.

I'm not caught up yet, so this might be redundant, but I worked in the medical field and they can give meds that helps the body drain the fluid away from the heart. These patients are usually a little weaker and more fragile medically, but they can do pretty well for a long time! My prayers are with you and your stepfather.

Is that B from the TSM area?

I'll have to let you know if I ever make it out the Portland area..I've never been but I have relatives out there.

Frist off :grouphug: to everyone having health problems and know that we are keeping you all in our prays.

Liesa,
LOL yes the card arrived Travis ALMOST didn't grab the mail in time as I reminded him as Patrick saw the mailman coming down the street that Patrick had to go and get something for me (i don't even remember what I told him had to go and get for me:lmao:) but he did and Travis grabbed the mail and thank the Gods he did as there was your wonderful postcard. :cool1::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: Which *I will stick into a plan birthday card envelope and stick it on top of his "clothes box present LOL". Am so glad to hear that the stamp guy made it before the plane could take off. Can't wait to hear more about the trip back to the States and then the much awaited Trip to the World of the Mouse!!

Mary,
Awww Buster and Lauren look so sweet together I just love kitties have 3 myself but I am sure before much longer another kitten will join our house as they tend to just "show up or follow us home :rotfl:"
Am sorry to hear that you were worry about everything before your trip I can soo relate to that and glad even though you were that it was still the BEST*TRIP*EVER*

Your surprise is going to be so great! When are you giving it to him? Are you going to video it and send it to Disney for their new campaign? I watched the live announcements and they were showing people surprising their kids, it made me cry!

Hi ALL!! It's so great to have you reading and guessing! This will be it for me until Monday, as tomorrow promises to be a busy day! I will answer each and every one- and until then-

Enjoy life!

Oh! forgot to finish posting! :rotfl2: Your stamp story is crazy! Lots of little miracles all tied together! I'm so glad it all worked out. Have a wonderful Sunday!
My guess was the TSM area also!

Imagine their confusion when told they could not smoke, must keep their seatbelts fastened, and that a life preserver was under their seats. Ummm…. Why? Do they work for sand? (Still pondering that, along with the other bewildered fellow passengers.)

Dude...that is totally true! In the DESERT?!? Why bother with that spiel?

Of course, with the panic that had just consumed our last hour, I didn’t have time to make my usual 3 trips to the bathroom. I was even prepared with my own TP this time- my last trip out, and I was finally, after 10 years of forgetting it, prepared for that all-important last trip to the Turkish squatty. And I didn’t have time. Which meant as soon as the props were spinning, I had to go. Bad. Even without 2 cups of coffee loaded up. Now, I’d have to be forced to wait until that bane of my travel experience, known as the seatbelt light, was off. Well, at least I’d have free TP, free soap, and a pristine sink to wash my hands in. And, I was going to be first in there- you can count on that! Because customer #2 gets fresh loogies, tinkled on seats, and risks the mortal danger of coming out with TP stuck to their shoe.

Ok...I guess my question is... Why are you leaving fresh loogies and tinkle on the seat??

So, we landed and made contact with the lady who was supposed to meet us at the airport to collect about $1,700 from us for our shipping bill. In Kazakh currency, that equals about 6 inches of stacked cash. I was NOT liking the fact that we had to carry that much currency, but we made our connection with our creditor, and was relieved to know that we were not robbed, beaten, or murdered in the process.

Uh...yeah! Good grief! I am glad you were ok, too! :scared1:

and I know what is coming...................

:faint:

Another great installment, Leisa! I am wondering about the lamb as well...reading that it's all downhill means I will have a whole lot of catching up to do later this week!

Not going to guess this time..my pre-surgery brain is pretty much maxed out on emotion so would probably cry if I got it wrong. Sad, I know..but by this time next week should be a new woman!!:thumbsup2

Have a great week everyone! Will stop by after I'm home from the hospital and able to hold a laptop (surgery is Tuesday about 11 a.m., but tomorrow is prep day). :goodvibes

(Rosie, my friend is going to post an update for me on FB. Mia will call her after she sees the Dr after my surgery is finished.)

My son was at an AFB not sure if it was Mannas or not, but probably. He was there around 2005-06. They had a small uprising while he was there, but not a lot came from it at that time.

Ahhh, caught up. Only took me about 3 hours, in between folding loads of laundry. I've given myself permission to indulge in as much Dis time as I want today, since its our first day back and I am EXHAUSTED! Not doing anything productive except laundry. Liesa, your TR has been a emotional roller coaster already! I'm so loving it!

Maroo - did you do a thread for your trip that coincides with this one? I'd love to read more of the backstory:)

I would have hated carrying that much cash too!

I'm guessing from the Boardwalk area....

Downhill huh....uh oh......

check your email :)

I also met a nice lady and her son today, by Providential appointment. He also has LARGE speech issues, and we both agreed it'd be good to get the boys together. Hooray!!

It IS crazy!! We had TKD, BAck to School Nite, and a bit of winter clothes shopping today. I think I spent more time in the car than I did in my bed last night. ON top of that, I somehow lost my debit card- thinking it may have actually been stolen- and spent a fair amount of time at the bank getting that taken care of.

Target declined my check (no debit card) and it turns out it was their mistake. Whatever- it all equaled massive amounts of my time standing in lines. I wanna go back to CamelandDonkeyVille!!!!!!!!!

Oh my! I knew it would be tough for you guys but seems like you are getting the kitchen sink thrown at you. I hope soon the good things will outweigh the bad!

Thank you so much to everyone sending my step-father and I prayers and good thoughts! It overwhelmed me :lovestruc and really helped me to get through the week - I sincerely mean it! :grouphug:

Glad you and your stepdad are doing better!

There are days I really wish I do. Where it's easy; my calendar was free, taxis were $1 to go anywhere, or I could walk. There weren't a thousand cheeses to choose from, so cooking was easy, I could go on and on, but lamenting won't do anyone any good- moving on.

 Hang in there! I have days I want to go to a simpler life too and I don't even know what it is like! But I promise the good will bubble to the surface and the bad will sink!

:worship: WOOOOOT Rosie (and Liesa) THANK YOU!! I'm gonna be an emoticon postin' fool! :cool1:
Maroo--we haven't met though I am pleased to make your acquaintance!! I was at the Dismeet in DC at the end of Aug. this year and had the pleasure of spending the day with Liesa, Rosie, Tracy, Glenn and Judy and met the Jen'z for lunch, as well as the Kapell's.
Just glad for the gift of his having come through the surgery with flying colors and is already up walking and moving out of ICU today to a regular room. :littleangel:

Welcome Jamie! Weird to see Harrisburg under your name. Glad your Dad is doing well!

Have a great week everyone! Will stop by after I'm home from the hospital and able to hold a laptop (surgery is Tuesday about 11 a.m., but tomorrow is prep day). :goodvibes

 Good luck on your surgery! I prescribe lots of DIS time to help you recover!

I didn't do an extra thread...

I did have a constant pre-trip report going that had some info on there about this one...but not so much.

My trips just continue and continue and continue...although after this weekend I have NONE planned for a while - just a cruise in June and not sure if I will be going to Disney then or not.

I pretty much "live" over on the wish trippers thread or on this thread...or on the make a wish kids threads. :thumbsup2

But I will be glad to give you more back story if you want it. :)

Somehow I got lost among your TRs. I thought I'd read everything linked in your siggie, but I guess I missed the most recent stuff. And sometimes I get so behind on this thread that I have to resort to skimming or, gasp, the chapter links. I knew that you were going to be assisting another family with their trip at the same time as this trip with Liesa and Leeann, but I couldn't remember how that came to be.

Liesa, I'm so bad about doing your games, sorry. Doesn't mean I don't love you! :lovestruc
I now have a free flight ready to be used to come and see you! Just let us ladies know. :goodvibes

Thank you so much to everyone sending my step-father and I prayers and good thoughts! It overwhelmed me :lovestruc and really helped me to get through the week - I sincerely mean it! :grouphug:

Again - thank you my friends for the prayers!! It helped get him home!

God is good! I'm so happy to hear he's doing better, be sure to keep us posted and let us know if there's anything we can do for you. :lovestruc

WOOOOOT Rosie (and Liesa) THANK YOU!! I'm gonna be an emoticon postin' fool! :cool1:
:

Welcome!!! Glad your learning the ropes! :goodvibes

I am really enjoying your trip report. I "lurked" a bit on your pre-trip report. :surfweb:
I was always intrigued by your Blank-a Stan reference. My son (Air Force) was deployed to Krygystan for a few months, so I wondered which "stan" you were living in.

I'm joining in! I lurked on the 2nd PTR, but I'm here for the TR

New faces!!! :woohoo: Glad you guys are here!!! :goodvibes

Yeaaah Rosie, your trip is almost here.

I just spent the weekend interviewing prospective exchange students, so your report on culture shock really struck a cord with me! I know it is difficult, but I also know that things will get easier as time passes. Soon you will hate it if there are only 900 and not 1000 cheeeses to choose from! ;)

Loved your update, especially the town pictures! Is this your running track?

The food thief photo story was very funny! :lmao:

And how nice of these people to take you to your destination. Was that something very exceptional or is it rather usual to help each other out like that in Kazakhstan? Here in Germany the people in the former East-Germany very often tell how wonderful it was when they were still East-Germany because everyone helped everyone, but know since they have become capitalist people only look after themselves.
