The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

:sad1: I fly home that day.

On a happier note.... I BOOKED OUR FLIGHTS TODAY!! : )

We will be getting together earlier in the week for sure! Don't worry, plenty of opportunities to bust out our moves!

I did??? How in the world............

Rude! ;)

Well, the general idea is to share a room. That might be.... awkward. Well, unless you guys got an adjoining room and we still did ladies (except Pat) in one and you guys next door. Hmmm... might work...

After reading all the hype, I felt the same when I first tried it also. It seemed more bland to me than I thought possible with the coconut and creme. And yes, it seemed a little dry too.

Maybe it's because they just aren't that fresh? Day old baked goods suck.

Of course, getting anywhere with the ladies would require the engineers to talk with them, and that's where the whole story breaks down.

Excellent point. Valid!

Can I come in spirit?

I think we can do one better.

It just needs more of the beginning and end, and less spinning globe.

So.... more explosions.

Yes, I remember this story. It was a church event or something with a girl all lonely at a table and an engineer being totally oblivious... :goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Typical. All the fun happens during the day.

I dunno. We have less management breathing down our necks the whole shift. I do like that part.

Since I know I'll forget to pop in tomorrow and tell you...

TXYONoDEuDGVy.gif

Yes! That looks JUST like me at 4:00 AM on my birthday. Kinda bug-eyed. LOL!!! Thanks! We'll celebrate a bit more on Saturday when my folks get here.

In all my years of working shift work, I always had to remind the powers that be that there are other shifts than days. The swings and night guys always get the shaft.

Very true. There is one night manager that orders pizza for us once a week, so there is that.

We are still on for the Friday 14th at Piano Bob's right !! By the way Happy Nurse's day week or what ever to you

and to all the mothers

Yes! We are absolutely ON for Yeehaw Bob on that night. Be there, or be square!

Happy birthday and happy Mother's Day!

Thanks, Irene! 29 and holding!

Called 911 many a time. Nothing so far ( knocking wood as I type) life-threatening but lots of messy bleeding cuts. We call 911 for lots of "just in case: things to CYA and MEDIC has more "toys" than we do to check someone out. Basically we have none. :sad1: When I am somewhere where I have developed a relationship with Fire ( they respond first, MEDIC never shares) I get to help with either immobilization or extrication. Last one was a lady who threw her back out in the pool during aerobics and could not bear weight so she could not get out any way we had available. MEDIC would not get in the water and she was conscious so not their job, Fire was a bit confused on how to get her out so we had to get creative. Luckily the patient ( YUP ) had an idea since this has happened to her before. ( not in our pool ) We got the stretcher and a wilderness waterproof litter type stretcher to get her onto the MEDIC stretcher. I now ordered 3 of those for our center in case it happens again.

Interesting about Medic vs. Fire. That whole infrastructure and how they share/cooperate/ or don't, has always been a mystery to me.

I don't find it too surprising that the patient herself had an idea that worked. Kudos to her for being an active part in her own care. I think those waterproof stretchers will come in handy for a place like a aquatic center!

All of them are awesome shots but these are a couple of my favorites.

Thanks!! I love getting pictures at the beach!

Prayers to both families as they deal with tough times.

I'm glad our DISFamily can rally around them!

Liesa, I hope you are having a fantastic day!!

Happy Birthday and Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!

:banana::banana::cheer2::cheer2::rainbow::bday::rainbow::cheer2::cheer2::banana::banana:

Vielen danke!

I had a very typical day. Sleep, fast food dinner out, and a weird evening talking to that mom of that birth I went to last year to talk about being her doula again. She's still quite psychologically unstable, and I'm not sure I want to do that again.

Thanks, Ponzi!

Have you ever seen or heard of the British Movie series "CARRY ON" one of which was Carry On Nurse !! They were hysterical

I haven't. I'll google it now...

I'm sorry you missed out on the burrito bar.

Happy Belated Birthday!

I have those 3 or more times a week. They're easy and delicious!

Sooo...

For a day, I was super excited about a PIN Code that came in the mail. It was for 30% off with my dates on it. I got Brook on it, but she didn't have good news this morning. Apparently, there were no resorts available for my dates? And for AoA there were dates, but not for Little Mermaid, so our total would have been higher.

I guess I'm sorta peeved. Why would they even send that out, if they couldn't offer you what they said they're offering. :confused3:confused3:confused3

A coupon good for NOTHING. :headache::mad:

She still has a little hope that something may open up for AKL, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

On a completely different note, she did purchase our Mickey's Not Really Very, But Kinda Creepy, Yet Fun Party tickets. Obviously, I'm pretty excited about that.

Now... I have to work on my costume.

And my graduation cap. I think I've made my final decision on which design to go with- I'll post pictures when I have it assembled.

Pretty typical. I don't think they've ever offered any kind of discounts or free dining for Little Mermaid.

I guess I'm sorta peeved. Why would they even send that out, if they couldn't offer you what they said they're offering. :confused3:confused3:confused3
Because the past 2 - 3 years... that's how they roll. They make a big deal about their free dining, discount pins, etc... and they have approximately 10 rooms available and approximately 100,000,000,000,000 people calling in to get those 10 rooms.

A coupon good for NOTHING. :headache::mad:
Yup... pretty much. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

On a completely different note, she did purchase our Mickey's Not Really Very, But Kinda Creepy, Yet Fun Party tickets. Obviously, I'm pretty excited about that.
Cool! I'm glad you got them. I hope the price hike this year didn't hurt the budget too much.

We did too. But it wasn't intentional.

 No, I suppose not.

That actually makes a lot of sense. But why only a 6 hour and 45 minute shift?! I'd love those!

Oh, no. Our shifts are 8:34 minutes long. We have 34 minutes of overlap. However, in practice, you go home when your relief shows up, so on a typical day you work 8 hours. On a day where your relief is on overtime, you may work 8 hours and 15 minutes.

Other than reading, I'm not sure what the point of the app is.

Don't forget it's not an app anymore. It's just a web page. And it's not designed for small screens.

We rank a little differently, but come pretty close. Also, kinda liking that Euro spelling up there ^^. Is that across the board in Canadaland?

Yes and no. Proper spelling in Canada contains 'ou's like in honour vs honor. But a lot of kids these days use spell check based on American spelling and also see American spelling a lot more.
I do it because I like throwing a curve ball out there.

You and Alison...:sad2:

two against one. We're right, you're wrong.

Might be helpful. Although this reminds me of the horrible dream I just had: I got lost in San Diego and couldn't find my way back to my car. Awful!!!

Were you in your underwear or naked? Because that would ramp up the "horrible" even more.

Fine. I'll keep my (coco) nutty opinions to myself.

good girl

It literally takes me 2 full days to recover.

::yes::
I just worked 16 hours in a row (Don't feel bad, I actually prefer that to the short change) starting at 2:45pm yesterday and ended at 6:45am today. Woke up at 2pm (woot! the puppy let me sleep!) and saw a text from work. Back at work by 3pm.
But that's okay too since I had to be in the area tonight anyway to pick up my Dad at the airport around 12:30am. So by the time I'm off work, he should (fingers crossed) be only an hour and a half out.

I slept until 3 PM on my birthday, which ended up being a non-birthday, really.

Been there. Done that. Totally get it.

Went to bed at 9:30. Then just now today woke up at 11:00 and am sooooooo groggy. I'm going to do some DISsing and then I really think I"m going to go back to sleep for a while. I should be doing some homework in prep for the next 3 big days at school, but just can't think clearly.

An hour and a half just ain't gonna cut it.
I've done it, but I don't like it.

What did you get her? Did the girls do anything for her?

Oh, we just do cards on Mom/Dad day. I usually try to get her a nice breakfast or supper, but since I was working evenings, I gave her the choice of croissants (bought) or pancakes. Also got her some chocolates. Usually I get nothing, but I don't do as much as she does, so that's okay.
The girls made her a chocolate cake. Haven't had a chance to try it. They were doing something they'd seen on the interenets. Ruby loves Diet Coke. They took a Devils Food Cake mix and replaced the eggs with a can of Diet Coke. Sounds awful, but... will find out later?

My mommy is on her way (and Dad) to see us! I can't wait to hang out and celebrate all of our birthdays and stuff.

Nice!

I can get rather cranky coming back to a place in dishevelment.

Crap. Yes, ma'am.

I dunno. We have less management breathing down our necks the whole shift. I do like that part.

::yes::

So a pin code that costs you more money.

Sounds about right... :sad2:

I guess I'm sorta peeved. Why would they even send that out, if they couldn't offer you what they said they're offering. :confused3:confused3:confused3

Now... I have to work on my costume.

oooohhh!!! You'll post pictures, right? Right? Right?

And my graduation cap. I think I've made my final decision on which design to go with- I'll post pictures when I have it assembled.

Good!

Happy Birthday and Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!
What she said! :thumbsup2

A nurse AND a social director! The girl's got skills................ :scratchin

Maybe it's because they just aren't that fresh? Day old baked goods suck.
It wasn't really anything like that, I just expected something filled with creme and covered in coconut to have a lot more taste........like a Krispy Kreme Doughnut. :hyper:

She's still quite psychologically unstable, and I'm not sure I want to do that again.
Yeah, I try to limit my interactions with Rosie too!

Yes, it seems they come out with those when they haven't quite filled their room bookings quota, but they usually have at the most popular locations. :sad2:

I swear I haven't fallen off a cliff or anything.. I'm still here and reading, sometimes just a fly by and don't have time to comment

I got one too and was super excited about dates we were looking at in December, but I had somewhat of the same findings

I guess I'm sorta peeved. Why would they even send that out, if they couldn't offer you what they said they're offering. :confused3:confused3:confused3

I was really hoping for WL in early December but both WL and POFQ ( my first two choices) had nothing available for my dates. I was kinda peeved too, like how did everyone get to book these rooms before me!?:confused3

On a completely different note, she did purchase our Mickey's Not Really Very, But Kinda Creepy, Yet Fun Party tickets. Obviously, I'm pretty excited about that.

Yea!!

Now... I have to work on my costume.

Oooh, can't wait to hear what you've got cookin!

And my graduation cap. I think I've made my final decision on which design to go with- I'll post pictures when I have it assembled.

Awesome! I'm excited to see it!

I was caller 100,000,000,000,000, but it didn't matter. I could have been caller 11 and still had crappy luck.

Yup... pretty much. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Maybe next time. And maybe still yet for AKL.

Cool! I'm glad you got them. I hope the price hike this year didn't hurt the budget too much.

Nah, only $12 more. $4 for each one. It's something we'll ever only do once, so why not?

Oh, no. Our shifts are 8:34 minutes long. We have 34 minutes of overlap. However, in practice, you go home when your relief shows up, so on a typical day you work 8 hours. On a day where your relief is on overtime, you may work 8 hours and 15 minutes.

12- 6:45??

Maybe you meant 8:45? I dunno... too much math.

Don't forget it's not an app anymore. It's just a web page. And it's not designed for small screens.

Ok, fine technically not an app. Still a PITA.

Yes and no. Proper spelling in Canada contains 'ou's like in honour vs honor. But a lot of kids these days use spell check based on American spelling and also see American spelling a lot more.
I do it because I like throwing a curve ball out there.

I thought that might be the case. I like the 'ou's. More sophisticated.

two against one. We're right, you're wrong.

Won't be the last time, that's for sure!

Were you in your underwear or naked? Because that would ramp up the "horrible" even more.

Do PJs count? Or is that only for showing up to Jr. High school and forgetting your locker # in your PJs?

I just worked 16 hours in a row (Don't feel bad, I actually prefer that to the short change) starting at 2:45pm yesterday and ended at 6:45am today. Woke up at 2pm (woot! the puppy let me sleep!) and saw a text from work. Back at work by 3pm.

OY! Tight schedule!

I hope his flight was on time! Nothing worse than waiting around for delayed flights. Except maybe intestinal flu. That might be worse.

An hour and a half just ain't gonna cut it.
I've done it, but I don't like it.

I should have been more clear... That was a PM bedtime and AM wake up. 14 hours of sleep. Maybe my problem is too much?

They took a Devils Food Cake mix and replaced the eggs with a can of Diet Coke. Sounds awful, but... will find out later?

And...?

So a pin code that costs you more money.

Sounds about right... :sad2:

It's the new Disney model.

Because it's Disney. They can do anything they want.

Even take charge a firstborn.

Cool! But aren't you going to miss your first born even a little?

Not really. Just found out a few hours ago that he did not get 1Charlie training (apparently the Aussies came in and bought up all the spaces. Didn't even know they could do that or that was going on) so will be shipping out to Guam in a couple of days. Still praying he gets leave to come home for his wedding in November. And heck yes! We'll be going to visit him.

oooohhh!!! You'll post pictures, right? Right? Right?

I suppppppoooooose. (I mean, what else am I going to fill this lousy PTR up with?)

What she said! :thumbsup2

Watch yo mouth.

A nurse AND a social director! The girl's got skills................ :scratchin

As my kids say... "Sick skilz, Mom."

It wasn't really anything like that, I just expected something filled with creme and covered in coconut to have a lot more taste........like a Krispy Kreme Doughnut. :hyper:

Maybe they forgot the sugar. Or maybe they were clean out of fresh cardboard.

Yeah, I try to limit my interactions with Rosie too!

Awww, poor Rosie.

(who am I kidding? She loves every minute!)

Yes, it seems they come out with those when they haven't quite filled their room bookings quota, but they usually have at the most popular locations. :sad2:

Silly. Then they shouldn't offer something they know they won't have.

But "Bookends" starts with a B!

I don't have any books that big. And I imagine they're backends have more "output" than your typical bookend.

I swear I haven't fallen off a cliff or anything.. I'm still here and reading, sometimes just a fly by and don't have time to comment

I am the same. I've been around a bit less as is typical during the middle of a term. But should be here more now that my Preceptorship is over. WOOT!!

I got one too and was super excited about dates we were looking at in December, but I had somewhat of the same findings

Seems rather icky to raise a lot of hopes and then dash them. I mean even 10% woulda been kinda cool.

I was really hoping for WL in early December but both WL and POFQ ( my first two choices) had nothing available for my dates. I was kinda peeved too, like how did everyone get to book these rooms before me!?:confused3

RIGHT?! I was on the phone after 2 days- how could they sell out that fast?!

Oooh, can't wait to hear what you've got cookin!

I think I'm going to go with your standard Nurse's outfit- scrubs, stethoscope, all that. But add a little fun touch... ordering now...

Awesome! I'm excited to see it!

Waiting for the decorations I ordered to come in. :)

We interrupt this show to bring you breaking news!

Exactly 5 month from today, we'll be spending our first night on Mickey pillows.

:hourglass :hourglass :hourglass :hourglass :hourglass
Tater has been starting to get ready...stay tuned.

12- 6:45??

Maybe you meant 8:45? I dunno... too much math.

Days: 6:45am - 3:19pm
Eve: 2:45pm - 11:19pm
Mids: 10:45pm - 7:19am

But if you're on O/T you work exactly 8 hours on the hour
Day: 7am - 3pm
Eve: 3pm - 11pm
Mid: 11pm - 7am

And you leave when your relief shows up.
So typically (For example) if you work a day shift, you work 6:45am to 2:45pm unless the evening shift is on overtime, then you work until 3pm.
Either way, you pretty much always get off "early".

Ok, fine technically not an app. Still a PITA.

This is correct.

I thought that might be the case. I like the 'ou's. More sophisticated.

oui

Won't be the last time, that's for sure!

Do PJs count? Or is that only for showing up to Jr. High school and forgetting your locker # in your PJs?

I was going to say "yes" immediately, but...
kids these days seem to go out in pajama pants all the time, so I'm not sure if it counts still.

OY! Tight schedule!

I hope his flight was on time! Nothing worse than waiting around for delayed flights. Except maybe intestinal flu. That might be worse.

Actually worked out even better.
While I was at work, Ruby called and said Dad had gotten an earlier flight and was already home.
(Took a cab, I suppose.)

I should have been more clear... That was a PM bedtime and AM wake up. 14 hours of sleep. Maybe my problem is too much?

Oh!

I've never done that. But, yeah... might've been too much.

It was... good!
No one was more surprised than I.

So... shipping out to Guam. Is that a good thing? (See the world!) or a bad thing? (Conditions suck!)

I suppppppoooooose. (I mean, what else am I going to fill this lousy PTR up with?)

I don't have any books that big. And I imagine they're backends have more "output" than your typical bookend.

Good point.
And who wants soiled, jumbo books?

Exactly 5 month from today, we'll be spending our first night on Mickey pillows.

I will offer up a "woot".

Oh, and...
