The ABC's of Trip Planning, Pt 1- K is for Keeping Things Kooky- Drinks V-Z; pg. 197 + New Link

Sounds like you have a nice start planned for your trip. We usually start in DTD too, but that is because my boys are Lego obsessed, they shop out what they might buy on the last day and keep that in mind during the trip, because we begin and end in DTD.
Are all 4 pictures meant to be together one place that begins with E? I'm thinking the 2nd picture is Everest and the third is maybe England in Epcot????

But you passed the boards and got the job...this is good, right?

Yes, that is good. I guess I just wish it was swing shift instead of having to get up at butt-crack-'o-dawn to get there. Although I suppose I could find something to rant about each of the 3 shifts. I am grateful though to have this job and that it's perfect for keeping up my skills for next term AND paying getting school paid for along the way. Debt is no fun! Nor is no Disney trip either.

Let's see...spend time taking care of those closest to you or spending it with people you've never met? Yeah, I can get that.:rotfl2:

Very good point. Although, there are times....

Yay! I'm glad you have that break to look forward to. Hope it's a great time!

So far, it's been WONDERFUL! Lots of good experiences, family hang out time, and loads of fun pix to share with y'all.

I don't know much about the area, so I'll be looking forward to it!

Glad there'll be someone ready to read! :)

That scrub top is adorable! How fun that you can wear that to work. It seems that most of the hospitals here have gone to required scrubs, so that would be out. But I love it and I want one!

Yay for earning some $$$ this summer and for buying three of your park tickets. That must feel awesome!

Glad your summer is going so well! :goodvibes

Yes, ALL of them have around here now too. The one I'm most likely to apply to JUST went to all black last week- they were one of the last holdouts in the area. Even HCP offices are going to "scrub blues". For now it's super fun, and my elderly residents recognize Mickey and I get compliments and a glimmer not often seen flashes in their eyes. Definitely a fun conversation starter.

It does feel awesome! The next BIGGIE is nailing down our resort and paying for that. It really depends on how many shifts I feel I can pick up and work over the school year. For sure Spring Break and Christmas Break. We'll see....

I will definitely let you know more for sure dates! It will depend on Ann's race or lack there of depending on what's released for next fall. If there isn't a race it opens up wayyyyy more options than the week before wine and dine... Because we have to do a MNSSHP. Because that's the only reason DF is along for the ride since they are closing Disney Quest!

I'm completely up for meet and greets and so is Ann! We've done quite a few over the years! We met as we planned 2011 trips. We had a Dismeet then, then planned a trip that we went on in fall of 13 just her, me, and my mom. I never knew I would meet my best friend on the disboards!

Random question, but what size scrub top do you wear? I have a Disney top that I wore for massage therapy that I loved... But I will hopefully not be going back into that field, nor does it fit anymore. Id love to pay it forward if it would fit!

Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back here! Travel, work, blah, blah, blah... But I AM so glad you are here and YES!!!! We definitely need to be in touch about dates! DISMeets are wonderful fun! Please do keep me posted and we'll make sure that all of the group stuff is posted so everyone can join in the mayhem-making.

I too have made some extremely close friendships. :) Disney is only a launching point for more to develop.

The last scrub top I bought was a small. But it really depends on what it's made out of, and how much it's going to shrink. One small didn't fit after I washed it. (too small) Others were just right. I'd be happy to send an address if that's what yours is. Since I have 3 that I use regularly.

Just checking in when I can too!! I don't have the time or the energy to do much in the evenings anymore , and usually hit the sack as soon as I get hime , not to sleep but just to unwind and not THINK!!! No smart remarks Mr Marv!!!:snooty::rotfl2:

I totally know how you feel, Rosie! I'm so tired too when I come home. :/ Just glad to have you here when you have time. :)

I would suspect the likelihood of being surrounded by automatic-weapon totoing doofus guards would be less... not zero, but less... on the way to MCO.

You nailed that one. Except the doofus part. That's about 100% chance.

Or from Central Canada.
We should touch down around 11:30pm

Yeah, then it'd be straight to bed for you. :( I guess I should consider ourselves lucky if we can arrive with ANY time at all on Arrival Day. I suppose in your case, it's all a matter or perspective. Your late arrival could be considered an extra day since you will have a FULL day from the get-go (given you've done some fuzzy math and added an extra day for such purposes).

Don't mention those to airport security, or the aforementioned guards will make their presence known.

I'll be buying them on property and won't be going home with them. So no worries there.

I suspect we won't have that problem.

No, I suppose not arriving that late. Harder for us going east. Midnight will feel like 9:00.

Okay I am only at the beginning of your PTR, still so much catching up to do. I am so so excited to read the rest!! I just graduated my RN program and took the NCLEX. Like I said, I still need to catch up on your report so I'm not sure where you're at in your school timeline but, you go girllll!! It is so all consuming (literally.. I have about 30lbs of nursing school weigh to lose from all the consuming.. ha! See what I did there?! Moving on...) but you can do it, and you will be so happy you did!!
Sorry if this comment is irrelevant since I'm so late to the party. Back to catching up :surfweb:

That's a lot of catching up to do! Sometimes it feels like a lot of it is a bunch of talking to myself. LOL! But this is where friendships are made and I'm glad you're here. :)

CONGRATULATIONS!! I completely understand your accomplishment! I just finished my 1st year of a 2 year ASN program. Ours in unique in our area in that we can take our NCLEX-PN after the first year to work the summer (or be done at that point) and then finish the 2nd year and sit the RN boards. I chose to take the PN boards to pick up a quick summer job so I can make some payola for tuition next year AND to finance the Graduation Celebration trip.

Yes, I also completely understand the Nursing School '15'. OY! Our particular little study group is rather fond of wine and cheeses and other tasty snacks to make the long days of studying bearable. That along with hospital cafeteria food (because I'd rather sleep an extra 15 minutes than make a lunch) keeps me... well nourished.

Anyhow... so much BIG WELCOME to you again!! It's awesome to have the Nursing Presence here along with all the other party-makers in the bunch!

When you take the summer off of Dis and then realize you are going to book a WDW trip you realize you have tons of catching up to do! I'm back and following along :drive:!

Are you sure it wasn't a pre-flight face plant in a snowbank?

Don't take the mystery out of a Canadian holiday.

Yes, 42 hours the first week, and somewhere just over 40 the second. I know that because I am now obsessively doing the math to estimate my paychecks.

 Of course you are!

(I'm not even sure why I do that because every time I did in my last job I was so horrified to see my check be like 25% less than I thought it'd be. Every time. I think 70% coming out for taxes is maybe hoping too much for sanity in our tax structure, but that's another conversation altogether.)

70%???? What? I sincerely hope you're exaggerating????

Is that the Explorer's club? Sadly, I never visited there before it went bye-bye.

Don't feel bad about late arrivals. I fly from the East coast at night and always get there at bed time. since I can never seem to take an extra day off from work, I just leave right after work. Even this next trip is an evening flight because by the time I could book it all the earlier, cheaper flights were GONE!

Nope, not the Explorers Club. Neither did I. And when I found out that it was likely a place I would have really enjoyed I was really, REALLY sad I hadn't heard about it. :(

HOWEVER,

You have heard about the new place The Edison going in at DTD? Some are saying that it is in some ways going in to "replace" that kind of venue (adult-friendly) and I'm super pumped to try it out! The atmosphere looks mysterious and swanky and fun all at the same time.

Yeah, they sorta are... I mean no, we don't have any tickets or resort ressies, but that is what I"m shooting for so I can get BOTH the MNSSHP and F&W. Some others are already planning as well and have arranged vacation/conferences around those dates so I will do my absolute very best to stick with that. :) Sure yours aren't flexible...????? Cuz another Meet would be pretty darned fun judging from the last time we made mayhem in DC! ;)

:confused3 Unfortunately they aren't flexible but by a day or two as we are a guest of Rob's cousin and his wife -- her work schedule is tougher to travel at the beginning of the month so middle works best AND Rob and I are trying to sneak in on F&W :teeth: + seeing some Christmas-y pixiedust:stuff too! Ding dangit :headache:

Booooo!! Such a bummer! I am looking forward to Halloweeny stuff since I was rudely hosed last time by Disney when they changed party dates. Remember?

We did the overnight to WDW from PDX last year. We won't be doing that ever again. We got no sleep. We did get there super early and made it to DHS pretty much at opening. But we were so tired. At least, we were able to fall asleep at a reasonable time. It usually is hard for us to fall asleep because it is only 7 or 8 pm at home. I always tell myself, next time I will save enough money to pay for a direct flight. Not sure if it is worth it though.

That's what I thought. I just don't want to start the trip off totally exhausted. Especially knowing my crew tries to burn the candle at both ends every day. I think travel day needs to be mostly just that, since it's such a long day already.

Sounds like you have a nice start planned for your trip. We usually start in DTD too, but that is because my boys are Lego obsessed, they shop out what they might buy on the last day and keep that in mind during the trip, because we begin and end in DTD.

My kids are passed the Lego age now, but still will enjoy the shop and just walking around. NO, the photos aren't all together. THey are from different parks/ areas. Just looking for the E word of why I chose it. And yes, you got 2/4 correct. ;)

Ok you have me super stumped. I got the 2nd and 3rd pictures (answered previously), I'm thinking the first picture is Egypt and is inside Spaceship Earth. The only E word I could figure for the 4th picture is Eyeglasses and I think they are in the tower of terror. But an E word that combines them all for why you chose them.... Exciting places????? lol I might be overthinking this

I am unusual in my red eye preference but, versus losing a vacation day to entirely travel, it is almost always my preference on personal trips. On a work trip...another story entirely.

Raglan is funny, a lot of the items are quite reasonable (by Disney standards of course) and is a huge favorite with our crew.

Sorry...it's just impossible to get over here lately with packing, etc.

I like that you are starting the morning out with a latte and then your flight and the ME, etc., and then heading to DTD.

Personally, if you don't want to pay Raglan's prices, then you don't want to pay Fulton's (think double!).

I love both EOS and Wolfgang's and you can't go wrong with either. You REALLY need to hit up the new Co-Op...it's marvelous.

Yes, you got them all right! I wasn't looking for any one word that tied them all together. :) yes, I think you were over-thinking. LOL!

If I could dope us all up and be guaranteed at least a little sleep on the way there, I would consider it. But is there even such a thing as a non-stop? Hmm..... waking up to change planes. That doesn't sound fun at all.

I've heard the Raglan is kinda hit or miss, as it's not as fun if you're not seated near the stage. Part of the draw of that place is certainly the entertainment factor as the food sounds good, but not better than a good dish at WP. Does that make sense. If I'm going to pay higher prices for just as good a meal, I do want the entertainment for that upcharge.

Totally understand, Kathy. Once school starts again, I'll be mostly off of here as well. ;)

It sounded like a perfect day to me. :) Well, minus the taking too long to get there.

Fulton's has always intrigued me as it's one of my earliest memories of DTD. I remember telling myself that it'd be fun to eat there someday. But then I researched prices, and the appeal certainly isn't what it used to be. Co-op.... hmmm.... :goes to websites: (Hadn't heard of that before.)

A little update from the Vacation Front:

Southern Kentucky is a really awesome place to visit. Tons! of stuff to do and see from caves to Corvettes, and country music to classical Greek architecture. Something for everyone!

Hopefully, a little mini-TR will follow, but for now, I'm just enjoying the company of my side of the family. Also, Day 1 of the Disney trip is upcoming. Still thinking on a few of the details.... Meatime, make yourselves comfortable and settle in.

You make it so easy, it doesn't require a SMART remark!

piling in the SUV to make our trek to PDX- the airport with the coolest airport carpet in the country. It's so cool that they make t-shirts and keychains with the cult-classic floor covering.

In case you didn't notice, you didn't post a picture with either a key chain OR a T-shirt............. :confused3

I'll probably either A) make a reservation at Fultons or Raglan Rd. or B) have a less expensive meal at Earl or WPs. I've heard some pretty good things about Raglan, but I'm not sure I want to shell out that kind of dough right off the bat. It could work out that we get the cheaper, but no less tasty, meal at the CS place, then get a nice dessert at the Raglan (can you say bread pudding?) or Ghiradelli.
I vote for Raglan Road or Earl............. Crossroads at House of Blues is not a bad choice either. :thumbsup2

The shops I do want to browse a bit are WoD for a new pin or two, the bath shop for a couple of bath bombs for relaxing soaks during the week, the Christmas Shoppe, and the Lego Store is a definite must.
Be really careful in the Lego Store.......... not unusual for Security to harass you there! :rolleyes1

E photos. Just to keep track of where we're at: (you DO know where all of these were taken, right...?)

Guessing Egypt............ unless they changed the name to Earth, Spaceship......... :stir:

Mom here, test post.
:welcome: to the insanity! :rotfl2:

Mind if I take this spot over here? I like to sit back and put my feet up, ya know.

Le sigh...

Liesa , I highly recommend the Raspberry Pavlova at Raglan Road, light but Oh so tasty!! but if you are looking for a filling dessert then the bread pudding is it !!!

Huh,:confused3 I was picking on Marv but if you want I can pick on you too:rotfl2:Marv might

 No, no. Go ahead. Don't mind me. Nothing happening here.

I may.... May.. have thought you were referring to my avatar in short form.
Nah, couldn't be.

Please go about your day.

:rolleyes1

It's so cool that they make t-shirts and keychains with the cult-classic floor covering.

Are you serious? Or just trying to see if anyone's paying attention lol or really gullible...like me?

may make having that kind of self discipline a bit hard.

Having ANY kind of self discipline at WDW is so hard...when it comes to food and shopping and really everything...

In case you didn't notice, you didn't post a picture with either a key chain OR a T-shirt............. :confused3

Oh fine. I will take one when I fly back through, just for you. :P But to satisify you meantime:

And you saw the selfie of us on FB last week. ;)

I vote for Raglan Road or Earl............. Crossroads at House of Blues is not a bad choice either. :thumbsup2

I'm leaning towards WP simply for the extreme value. LeeAnn and I ate there as our last meal last trip, and the chicken pasta thingy I got could have easily fed all of us, especially if we get a sundae or dessert over at Raglan afterwards. Haven't looked at the menu at HOB... will do so now.

Be really careful in the Lego Store.......... not unusual for Security to harass you there! :rolleyes1

sounds like a story inside there somewhere...

Guessing Egypt............ unless they changed the name to Earth, Spaceship......... :stir:

Go ahead, stir your pot, Mister. Maybe I was shooting for Earth's Egypt.:lmao:

Sounds interesting and fun.
I like that combination.

Still editing photos; some are pretty ok.

Mind if I take this spot over here? I like to sit back and put my feet up, ya know.

Just watch the priceless antiques and precious hardwoods. (I like to dream big in my virtual Forum House.)
