Day 7 - Friday, February 9, 2001
Today we check out, so we loaded up the car and made sure everything was taken care
of. We had left tips for our maid, and she had arranged TaraâÂÂs stuffed animals on her bed
each day and made fans and other arrangements with towels and washcloths. We looked
forward to seeing what would be waiting for us at the room each afternoon. We had a
breakfast at Artist Point and dinner at OâÂÂHanas scheduled for today, but it just didnâÂÂt
work out for us to make these meals. I actually scheduled too many PSâÂÂs and we are
going to try to catch the ones we didnâÂÂt get this time on our next trip.
After breakfast at the food court, we went back to Disney-MGM Studios to see some of
what we missed on Wednesday. I was afraid of large crowds due to the cheerleaders, but
we only saw a few small groups and they were never disruptive or causing any problems
that I could see.
First, we went on the Great Movie Ride. This was a lot of fun, and I really wanted to ride
it since it broke down when we were there on our last trip. We had the gangster side, and
I enjoyed the action and the way the CMâÂÂs worked together to make it fun. We then went
on to the Doug Live show, which Tara and I enjoyed a lot, since we like the TV show.
The Hunchback show was next. This was very well done and I thought the story was told
with lots of style and grace. The pre-show juggler was Randy, and the funniest thing that
happened here was when he was going to show us balloon tricks by making them into
animals. He blew up a balloon and before he could do anything else with it, Tara starts
clapping like mad (she said she just wanted to see what he would do). He said âÂÂOh, well,
that was easyâ and let it go without doing anything else. After that, each time he would
blow up a balloon, he would stop and look at her before he did anything else and she
dutifully clapped like mad each time. It was really funny and very entertaining.
By this time, we were ready for lunch, so we stopped at Toy Story Pizza Planet for
individual pizzas and drinks. This was very good and was a little over $20.00 for the
three of us. We then played some games in the arcade and my husband won a Star Wars
watch in one of them. We stopped at the Star Wars gift shop so they could buy some
more pins, and then we decided to call it a day and start home. We were reluctant to go,
but needed to get started so we wouldnâÂÂt wear ourselves out in the process of driving
back home.
We were going to try to drive straight through, but we got stuck in traffic in Orlando and
by the time we got to Lake City, FL it was late and I was in a lot of pain. So we stopped,
had dinner and got a motel room at a Knights Inn so I could get some much needed rest.
The next morning, we continued the drive and got home about mid-afternoon. I wore
slippers for the next two days so my feet could recuperate somewhat, and now I have
caught TaraâÂÂs cold, but those are minor inconveniences compared to the wonderful time
we had at Disney this trip.
