as my mission in life is to stay at all the disney resorts at least once .... i have a question

how difficult is it to book at the 7 month window?

regardless (or is it irregardless) of where we buy (resale vs. SSR) one of the highlights of DVC for us is the opportunity to stay at diiferent resorts on-property

now we dont usually travel during holidays except for the occassional summer trip

we would be fine in a studio ... a one bedroom would be a bonus

we wouldnt necessary have to stay at any particular resort at any particular time ... you know ... one year at OKW, the next at BW, the year after that SSR, maybe one year at GF ... throw in a cruise or two ... and i'm happy

what about the non-DVC resorts?
i know these are not point-effective .... but are they readily available to DVC members who have enough points?

have you had trouble booking at the 7-month window?
what's your experiences been?

thanks :)

Nope, it's regardless; only "irregardless" if you are a TV sports announcer and therefore don't know any better :p

If you are travelling at off-peak times like Sept and January you should do fine at the 7 month window, regardless of your home resort. Remember tho, peak DVC times do not always correspond to peak Deluxe or Moderate times or peak park attendence times. The first few weeks of December for example are a notoriously tough time to book for many DVC resorts. If you are flexible in terms of times, view and size of unit, you should be able to accomplish your goal.

As for the non-DVC resorts, I am not sure, never having used my points for these.

Good luck!

If that's your philosophy, you will have no problem whatsoever. Many people will book their Home resort at 11 months just to insure they actually have a room. Then, at 7 months, you can call and try to move to another resort. The vast majority of times, you'll probably have several options to choose from at 7 months. Other times you may have to go on the waitlist, but that's a painless process.

If you book close to 7 months and don't mind using the waitlist then I don't think you will have any problem experiencing stays at the other DVC's.

If you have special view requirements or travel during peak DVC times, then it will get more difficult, but will still be doable.

With BWV I wouldnt count on getting boardwalk view or standard view at 7 months.

I think the key is to be prepared to stay at your home resort by booking in your priority window, and then being flexible at the 7 month window.

I agree 100%. That's why having your home resort as a place you really wouldn't mind staying is important. You may end up getting "stuck" there but probably not most of the time.
