Okay - here's the deal. We have a sixty second rule around here. You can't post more than one post every minute. Now, I understand the reasoning behind it - to keep people from flooding the boards and ruining the experience for everyone else.
It can be just a tad aggravating though.
I have a proposal.
I've just checked my profile, and it says that I average 11.28 posts per day. Now, no offense, but that seems very LOW to me. I'm assuming it is calculated using a 7-day week. I really only post 5 days a week. I'm not around over the weekends much. So, using the original number, I think my real daily average is...
11.28*7 = 78.06 (weekly posts)
78.06/5 = 15.792 (Weekday average)
To take this a step further (Yeah, you're right - that number is just not impressive enough...
) I'm only on the DIS for 4 to 6 hours per day. Even if we take the 6 hours estimate, that means I should quadruple my daily average. So the 15.792 is really 63.168.
At one minute delayed per post, that's over one hour a day!!! (I figured this part out WITHOUT using my calculator!
) ONE HOUR!!!
Hey! I'm a busy fellow! I've got lots to do! How can you do this to me!! (I could continue with these statements here, but you probably know more of them than I do - having heard so many of them...
)
So, what shall we do?
My proposal is to amend the 60-second rule and make it a 58-second rule!
Pretty darn brilliant, isn't it?
Now, I know you're probably sitting there right now, absolutely stunned at the simplicity and brilliance of this little idea. Probably wondering why YOU didn't think of it. That's okay - don't kick yourself too hard. You've been busy messing with the tools and our heads. Doing YOUR job. And doing it very well, I might add. No one expects you to think of EVERYTHING!!!
You've got dedicated DISers like myself pondering these things and constantly striving to improve things for everyone around here. We're kind of like IMAGINEERS! Well, except for the advanced degrees, meaningful paid positions, and colorful clothing and hairstyles.
By my calculations, that minor adjustment could save me over 2 MINUTES A DAY!!!
Just think of what I could do with that kind of time, day in and day out. Week in and week out. Month in and Month out.
To say nothing of YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT!
I bet I could come up with many, many more ideas, just as good as this one.
Waddya say?
