Well hello there! I have never done a full trip report before...but I thought I'd give it a shot and decided now at 1:00 in the morning was the best time to start the Pre-Trip Reports!
that's right...reportS...plural...what a wonderful year 2009 is starting to be!
A little background...I have been to WDW a few times...a day trip here, a day trip there, while I was growing up. We hit it a couple times on the way to or home from Grandma's house. Fast Forward a bit of years and in 2001 my DH (fiance at the time) and I went to visit his parents in Leesburg and we went to Disney for 2 day/1 night trip. We stayed at ASMu and had a great time. It was the first time for both of us to stay on property and it was quite spectacular...even for an extremely short trip.
We get married in 2002, have a baby in 2004 and by 2006 I am totally having withdrawals and need to take my 2 year old to Disney...I HAVE to...I can't stand it any longer...so we book a trip to see family and disney the week after Thanksgiving 2006. We were only at Disney for 4 days, but it was incredible...to see it through the eyes of my DS, totally awesome...better than I could have every anticipated....and I created a little Disney monster...all he did was ask to go back (Awesome kid!)
We couldn't swing it in 2007 for vacation, but my Grandma did turn 80 that year so my Dad, DS and I went to MK for one day in July 07. That was going to have to do for the year...but we'll push for '08. After a couple of dates kept getting pushed and pushed, we finally made it for a Labor Day week trip! Awesome...we celebrated our Anniversary and had an incredible time on a 10 day trip! And to make it even better...DH insisted we go to the DVC mini-meeting at MK to "check it out" and we signed that day! Holy Moly...DH wanted to buy DVC...what was the world coming to? He had tried to talk me out of even going to Disney that year...that trip was so meant to be!
So...after buying into DVC, we had incentive points and our use year points to use in 2009....how could we do it? No way we could do 2 trips, could we?
So, I convinced DH to let me use the incentive points and take my Mom and DS to Disney before my Mom's busy season starts at work....he says OK so that is where the 3 Generation trip began...My Mom, Me and DS (who is now 5!) We are going to be staying at SSR for a 6 day/5 night trip at the end of March! And...if that wasn't spectacular enough, we decide that we are going to use our normal points for a trip to our Home...AK Kidani Village in July...so begins the 2nd trip planning of 2009! What else happens this year? DS starts kindergarten at the end of August...so this is going to be one year of celebrating!
To the Cast:
Me - call Me Mrs. Mickey (32): I have been in love with Mickey Mouse for as long as I can remember. My senior year photo as the caption "Someday: to be the CFO of Disney"...imagine that...I wouldn't want that job now...but that gives you a little insight to the slight obsession I had.
DM - Tinkerbell (58): My Mom has always sprinkled the pixie dust for me. She is a wonderful woman...and I am really looking forward to having her experience Disney World through her Grandson's eyes. She has only been to MK once and AK once. She has never stayed on property and really wants to go to Epcot. She has arthritis in the knees, so this will be a first for me...we have to travel with a scooter...so I'm trying to figure out the ins and outs of that when it comes to driving in the lines and such. Gives me something new to research
DS- Tigger (5): He truly bounces at Disney. He is a thrill seeker and I am not...so our March trip may be a little different for him without Dad around because I just cannot go on splash Mtn, BTMRR or the teacups...so, he'll have to get used to getting a different experience and soaking in the Magic and not the thrills...I hope he can cope! I'll have to bribe him with Mickey Head ice cream sandwiches...they are his favorites!
DH - Goofy (42): He never ceases to amaze me...not always in a good way...but mostly
Like I said, last year he tried to convince me that we shouldn't go to Disney, then, when we get there...he convinces me to buy DVC. What's up with that?!?!?! I think he just likes to spend money!
This year I was willing to use our points to visit a different location closer to home, but he said "What, we aren't going to Disney World? I want to go to Disney World" So...the July trip was born. He really is confusing.
So, that is the characters...later on I will dive into the planning and itinerary for March. It's coming quickly and we have so much to do...we're driving from PA...so tons of fun are to be had...I promise you!
