Not to split hairs but we were talking distance not time. Still I don't think it could take twice as long to walk to the bus stop but I can easily believe it feels that way. I so agree with you that the hallways at BC feel like a maze. Waiting for an elevator will add to the time whether you go to IG or the bus stop.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree, then, at least until someone thinks to take a pedometer with them to BC. :) The only reason I used time as the measurement of distance was due to the lack of any other measurement tool, and I'm not good with US measurement systems to know whether it was a mile or whatever.

I just know from walking it less than two months ago, walking at the same speed to both destinations, and not counting wait/ride time for elevators, the actual "walking" took longer to get to the bus stop than to Epcot from our room. Our room was quite literally the very furthest room you could get from the lobby (3501 - third floor in the three floor section, right beside the stairs closest to Epcot, with only about 4-6 rooms along our short little hallway). Great room, and we loved the location since we're big Epcot fans, but nowhere near the lobby or the bus stop. :)

If you were drawing a straight line from one spot to the other, sure, the bus stop would be closer...it's those zigzagging hallways that add both distance and time to the journey...

It's basically the same resort, same cast members, same amenities, same restaurants, same general manager, same offerings in the lounge. As most of you Disers know, I call the YC the "dark side" because everything is woods and darker colors where the BC is lighter, more seashore feel. The BC is a tad closer to Epcot (I can walk it in 4 minutes) but you have to walk a tad longer to get to the boat to ride over to the Studios. Personally I consider it all one resort and I don't think I'd waste time packing up and moving. You normally find more families with children at the BC. The YC has more convention guests it seems. Again, except for the decorations/colors, it's pretty much the same.

Thanks Teena, my family think I'm mad doing a split stay but I really just want to 'try' BC

Is it faster or easier to get to MK by walking around Epcot to monorail or dealing with the bus? We don't mind walking and are a fast bunch- we call it 'kick it into Disney mode' even when we are home and have to walk fast.

Also, thank you all so much for this great thread! We have always stayed at the Poly and next week is our first trip to BC. The info. here was a big reason we made the switch. :)

:goodvibes We actually chose to stay at BC for that very reason. Well, there are LOTS of good reasons to stay at BC :cloud9: but that was a deciding factor.

We stayed in room 1598 and could leave our room and actually be at the IG in about 90 seconds. We love to walk and after eating all the disney food that's a good thing!:lmao:

We found that we were able to take advantage of good timing on our travels from BC thru Epcot to get to the monorail...
like riding Test Track 2 x in 15 minutes :woohoo:on our way back after our dinner at Narcoosee's, getting in on the last ride of Soarin' on another night.

If you are not planning on being at MK for rope drop, walking thru Epcot to the monorail works well.

With all that walking I managed not to gain one pound :yay:on our 9 day trip and with all we ate I call that a smashing success!

Have a wonderful trip!!!!:thumbsup2

Teena,

My mom will be with us in December and may need a wheelchair. Can we rent one at the back entrance to Epcot?

Yes you can but if you are staying with us, just go to our concierge desk and we will give you one to use for the entire stay (free).

Thanks everyone for the info on Epcot park opening & transportation.

Now I have another one for ya!;)

How much is it to rent rafts or noodles for the pool? I seem to recall from a couple years ago that it was by the hour. What is the rate? And what do they have to rent?

I also seem to recall that if you bring your own rafts they need to be clear or see-through. Am I dreaming this?:confused3

As we will be there 8 days and there are 5 of us, I am leaning towards buying but want to be sure I get the right ones.

Thanks for the input! :goodvibes

Yup, we're staying at the Beach Club. But, I thought the wheelchairs you could "rent" from the resorts have something like a $300.00 deposit. And, if something happened to it, say when everyone was on a ride, you would owe the $300.00. Is that true? That is why I thought it would be better to rent one from the parks ($8.00 for multi-day, picking one up from each park).

(Mom can walk some but she has emphysema and too much walking would be extremely hard for her, that is why we are looking into the wheelchair options.)

I know they ask for a credit card to be on file when they loan them out at the resorts but that's so we will get them back. We had trouble with people just leaving them at parks. I'd talk to one of the CMs at the concierge desk about it at the BC before you spend the money at the parks.

Will do! That is a great idea - thank you very much. :goodvibes

Thanks for the quick reply. :flower3: We haven't told the kids we are staying at BC, they think we are staying at POP again so they will be thrilled.

I officially made the change to BC for next Sept. so we will be seeing you then. I can't wait to stay at BC. :cool1::yay::yay:

The villas are the green building. If you are in the BC lobby and heading down the hall towards the marketplace, you make a left through the double doors across from the marketplace entrance. That covered walkway (very short) takes you right into the Villas. There's a walkway near the Villas entrance that winds around the BC building and takes you onto the path to Epcot. If you have a room near the entrance of the Villas, you will be fairly close to Epcot.

Thank you! Great info!

I want to thank everyone for all of the wonderful information that you are giving. It is really helping us out, and getting us very excited for our upcoming trip in 29 days :cool1:. This will be our first stay at BC and we could not be any more excited about it. My DH and I have always wanted to stay at a Epcot Resort and BC just looks so appealing to us. We just told our DD8 and DD6 last night that we switched our resort from CSR to BC and both of their eyes got so big as we told them, we have only gone to BC to eat at Cape May Cafe and to shop, they too have always wanted to stay at BC (mainly for SB) :goodvibes, I just hope it will be warm enough for them so they can use SB, you never know what the December temps are going to be like.

WONDERFUL! ENJOY!!!! We'll be at the YC at the same time as you!!

I am curious to know the answers to these questions too as we will be at the BCV for the first time in May:banana:

BTW wishing you a great trip:thumbsup2

:wizard:My family has been to Disney many times but this is our first vist to BC. We are going Nov 22 for & nights. DH, DS age 9, DD age 8 and DD age 8 (yes twins). I paid for standard view. What is the best view to request? I know the kids will wnat to swim but I want them to be able to see illuminations. I have no clue what to put on the reservation. I saw someone styaed by the quite pool and was able to walk to Epcot in 2 minutes.....are on the dining plan too. Any suggestions on food there?

Hi Teena. I have been reading through the many pages of this thread (thanks to all of the valuable information provided here by everyone who has contributed), and I have a question which I can't seem to find the answer  We are so fortunate to be staying at the BCV (thanks to the PIN code fairy) in May and I was curious about the balconies at the villas; Teena are all of the balconies at least big enough for DH and I to sit out and enjoy our coffee? I am a bit worried because I have read that the balconies at the BC can be either non-existent or standing room only. It took some convincing to get DH on board with us staying here...he is not shall we say as Disney crazy as DD and I....anyway he enjoys relaxing on the balcony with his coffe. Also my other question is that I requested a courtyard view first and a woods view second as I figured they would be more private than a water view of the quiet pool...am I correct in this assumption? Teena thank you so much in advance and we are looking forward to meeting you in May:woohoo:

We were there last month. I had read about the rental stuff ahead so we stopped at Walmart on our way from the airport to the BC. Got some water and they had the noodles for sale for $2 each. We bought 5. Best investment! I didn't see that you could rent noodles but I did see the sign that said $10 for tube rentals. Not sure if that was for an hour or day. Also the noodles were more comfortable floating in the lazy river than the tubes looked IMO. We left the noodles at the quiet pool for another family when we left. Got our $10 worth that's for sure!

Joanne, I'm not Teena obviously but I can answer about the balconies. All villas have either a patio or balcony. All are large enough for two chairs and a small table. Many balconies span the width of the studio and a few are very large.

We've never been in a villa facing the courtyard that looks toward the driveway. I think those rooms would be the least private though. One DISser likes those villas because she enjoys people watching....it's just a relatively busy area.

There are a couple areas that face woods. One of those also in in a much larger courtyard area that faces part of BC.

Because of the shape of BCV, rooms facing the Dunes Cove pool are not as private as some villas on the backside of the building. But it is a very large area and usually very peaceful. Perhaps just request a quiet villa?? HTH a bit until Teena comes along.

I don't think this is true. Some of the balconies are "Juliet" style in the studios at BCV and are very, very small. Perhaps a little bigger than standing room only but are not comfortabel with two chairs & a table out there. Other balconies ar eimmense like the one we had two weeks ago- corner room with a huge balcony big enough for multiple lounge chairs (not that we tried!) and a full sizxed table and at least 4 chairs. There is a huge range of balcony sizes. Tubes are $8010 for the whole day and $2-3 an hour I think. They won't let you use your own raft unless it is see through/clear becuase they have to able to see the bottom of the pool at all times. We had a partial view of illuminations & Fantasmic from room # 555, I think.

Thanks for the speedy reply and your response most definitely helps:thumbsup2 I should clarify that we are booked in a 1 bedroom so I am guessing the balconies are bigger there then in the studios? I think I may take your advice and request a quiet villa or maybe I should just request a room with a large balcony:confused: I know that nothing is guaranteed and it's just a request, but I have already changed my request twice...Oh the decisions...I mean I only have 6 months to obsess over this:lmao:
