There still are buses between most parks. However, from Epcot to MK, one must take the Epcot monorail and then transfer to the express monorail or a ferry to get to the MK.

Buses from DHS and DAK go to the TTC not directly to MK.

BTW, no room at the BC is closer to the front of Epcot than to the BC bus top. Not even remotely close.

I meant some BC rooms are closer to the back gate at Epcot and some may enjoy the stroll through Epcot to the front monorail or bus.

It all depends on what you like. Do you like an upper floor or the first floor? Personally, I like the fourth floor close to the lobby (hence close to SAB and the bus stop and the boat to the Studios) with a view of the Lake. Just request whatever your preference is.

Yes I usually request the upper floors. I had read that some rooms have a nice view of Epcot. But I think I like your idea of being close to the lobby.
Do the YC rooms have old and new day beds like the BC?

Hi all!

Teena--I met you last time I was there for my mom's birthday and I'm sorry I never posted back to say it was so nice to talk with you!!!!

We are popping down tomorrow for F&W and a one-night stay. I looked a few pages back and saw the SAB hours were 10-10. Is that still correct? I am hoping that with the heat we've been having, they are still keeping the pool open that late. Even though it's practically November. ugh.

Oh, gotcha.:surfweb:

I'm not sure that's true either though. It doesn't appear to me that is the case when looking at this map.

It is wonderful being so close to the International Gateway though, isn't it?

Actually, I can vouch personally for the fact that from some rooms it is easier/faster to get to the Epcot back gate than to the BC bus stop.

Over Labour Day weekend, we were pixie dusted into a 1bd CL suite...which was on the third floor at the end of the building closest to Epcot, right beside the stairs.

Down the stairs, out the gate and a quick walk (2-3 minutes?) along the sidewalk and we were at Epcot.

Walking to the bus stop via the interior hallways meant zigzagging all the way through the building to the center, then down the elevator to the lobby, then through the lobby and along the path to the bus stop...taking more time than it took to get to Epcot, by about 2-3 minutes...so almost double?

The other route to the buses involved going outside and walking along the sidewalk and around to the main doors on the lake side, then through the lobby and out to the bus stop. It wasn't that much faster, but involved much less zigzagging.

We absolutely loved the room, especially for its proximity to Epcot...but the BC hallways are definitely a bit of a maze... :)

You are so right about the hallways. I remember when I first started working there and I had a shift as a runner. I think I was lost once for 30 minutes ... couldn't find the elevators to the lobby. I was all turned around. I got lost over in the Villas too.

As far as the BC and how close to Epcot or the bus stop, if you have a room by the quiet pool area, you are real close to Epcot. There is an exit door by 1501 and if you go out that door, you are half way to Epcot's international gateway. The closer you are to the lobby, the closer you are to the bus stop. The bus stop is out the front door of the lobby, follow the pavement around to the left and over the covered bridge.

We had a room by the quiet pool last summer and felt like we were right at the International Gateway! DH loved that room and area so much that we're going to try for that area again this summer.

How far are the villas from the rest of the building? I stayed in a room right next to the quiet pool (corner room closest to the hot tub - fabulous room!) and it was a great location. Where the heck are the villas and how far is it from BC and from Epcot?

I'm staying at YC CL next May :cool1: (I've stayed there before), but am also staying a couple of nights before I move over to the YC at the BC CL (first time) - I love the look of the new BC rooms and thought it'd be fun to do a split trip at both.

I've spoken to the IPO and they've confirmed the BC CL lounge has been extended, has anyone any photos? or first hand reports of the new extended lounge?

Thanks

The villas are the green building. If you are in the BC lobby and heading down the hall towards the marketplace, you make a left through the double doors across from the marketplace entrance. That covered walkway (very short) takes you right into the Villas. There's a walkway near the Villas entrance that winds around the BC building and takes you onto the path to Epcot. If you have a room near the entrance of the Villas, you will be fairly close to Epcot.

The lounge is beautiful. It's hard to believe it's the same place. They really really renovated it - moved walls, etc. The whole kitchen area is gone and that's a children's area. Much much larger. I love it.

Thanks Teena, the more I'm reading about the BC CL the more I'm now thinking I might not want to move over to the YC :rotfl:

It's basically the same resort, same cast members, same amenities, same restaurants, same general manager, same offerings in the lounge. As most of you Disers know, I call the YC the "dark side" because everything is woods and darker colors where the BC is lighter, more seashore feel. The BC is a tad closer to Epcot (I can walk it in 4 minutes) but you have to walk a tad longer to get to the boat to ride over to the Studios. Personally I consider it all one resort and I don't think I'd waste time packing up and moving. You normally find more families with children at the BC. The YC has more convention guests it seems. Again, except for the decorations/colors, it's pretty much the same.

I need some info on accessing Epcot for Park Opening via the International Gateway.

I think I remember reading once that the folks accessing Epcot thru the Gateway are a couple minutes delayed in getting into Future World, and obviously don't get to view the opening ceremony with the characters. Is this true? If so, how much of a delay is it in getting to the Land for Soarin'?

Also - I assume that if you want to use the monorail to get to the MK for park opening, you would only be able to do so on a day where Epcot had morning EMH. In other words, there is no way to cut thru Epcot before park opening to get to the monorail, right?

TIA!:)

We always enter Epcot through the IG. I think the walk to the front of Future World is about a 10 minute walk through the UK and Canada and then along the path to Spaceship Earth. I have read, but can not confirm, that they allow IG guests in a few minutes early to compensate. Anyone know for sure?
You can not cut through a closed Epcot to reach the monorail to make rope drop at MK.
Last week we found the buses from the BCV to the MK to be very efficient. I would advise that route to make rope drop.

Not to split hairs but we were talking distance not time. Still I don't think it could take twice as long to walk to the bus stop but I can easily believe it feels that way. I so agree with you that the hallways at BC feel like a maze. Waiting for an elevator will add to the time whether you go to IG or the bus stop.

We've stayed in rooms at the BC in that area but on the first floor. It does feel wonderfully close to Epcot, doesn't it. Can't beat it after Illuminations.:cool1:

If you ever have a room in that area again and want to take the outside route to the bus stop, when you come to the walkway between BC and BCV, don't take a right and walk back into BC.....you're backtracking at that point and will lose time. Instead take a right toward BCV, the green building. Don't enter but take a left when you get to the Ariel statue. Walk straight on that sidewalk and you will come out by the driveway of the BC. Cross over to the bus stop. That will save you half a minute or so I think.

You are so right about the hallways. I remember when I first started working there and I had a shift as a runner. I think I was lost once for 30 minutes ... couldn't find the elevators to the lobby. I was all turned around. I got lost over in the Villas too.

That's funny, Teena. I can so picture that. I think the halls around the interior courtyard are especially confusing. I liked that they added signs directing to the lobby some years ago.

Besides Teena's directions, this link from a DISer may help you visualize the location of the villa.

When we've entered at opening, we were held at the turnstiles until it opened. Actually, the last time the guards didn't even start bag check until 9am. Others have reported being allowed to enter and then being held near the bridge area. Fairly recently, someone posted they were able to enter early and walked part way through WS so they were not at a disadvantage.

So agree about taking the bus to MK.:thumbsup2

It is not consistent (and perhaps rare) that they allow IG guests in any earlier than the front rope drop time, so there is a slight lag for those rushing to get to Soarin', but I don't think it is terribly long.
