You can absolutely take food and drinks back to your room from the Concierge Lounge! Mid-day snacks were things like cookies, yougurt pretzels, yummy kettle chips with a super dipping sauce, gummy bears, a selection of soft drinks, ice tea, lemonade, Evian, etc. We never made it for the late afternoon snacks, but I think beer and wine are available then (4-6)? In the evening there are desserts and assorted cordials.

Here is a link to my flickr account that has some pictures of the CL offerings:

(ignore the Le Cellier scallops photo, this was for someone on the Restaurant board)

Natebenma is absolutely right except the beer and wine and hot appetizers are 5-7 PM and desserts and cordials are 8-10 PM.

I'm much better thanks to the antibiotics. My hubby is horribly sick. Worse than I was. I don't think it's the same thing either ... some different symptoms. He missed work at the Contemporary today and will call-in again tomorrow and go see our doctor first thing in the morning. I'm really worried about him. In the 30 years we've been married, I've never seen him this sick but he won't go to the 24 hour clinic. Men are so stubborn!

OK, on to better stuff, but thanks for asking about me, I'm not into massages as much as my daughter and husband. I hate to spend money on me. They have both had them at the Grand and at the Contemporary and both said although at the Grand they felt pampered, they got better massages at the Contemporary. Never been to the other ones but my daughter and hubby rave about the Contemporary's massages.

I'll be working the 15th, 16th and 17th and then leave on the 18th to help my daughter in Vegas.

Sorry DH is so very ill. And I agree, men are VERY stubborn when it comes to being sick! Hope he is better soon.

We are checking in on the 17th & look forward to meeting you.

Wonderful! Have you stayed at YC before? Is there anything I should know about cl so as not to make a fool of myself? I am so excited; you'd think I was 10!:woohoo::woohoo:

Hi, all,

Thanks to the military salute (free 5-day ticket for DH, $99 each for myself and DD, and about 40% off at resorts), we have booked a stay at BC for a long weekend in early December!

I am SOOOO excited, I have always wanted to stay at an Epcot area resort. Epcot is our favorite park, so to be able to walk there will be wonderful. And although since our trip is relatively short I do not anticipate spending a LOT of time at SAB (gotta get that park time in!), we will definitely try it out.

I am sure I will come up with many questions over the coming months. For now, DH would like to know what quick service food options there are, including where to get refillable mugs filled, either with coffee, hot tea, or soft drinks. The lack of a food court is his main hesitation about staying at BC - help me convince him there are options!

Thanks!

Good evening! We booked BC CL standard room for 12/12 - 12/15. I am wondering if anyone has pics of the not so good view that we may get from our room. When we were there in May, we did not have CL booked but standard and I loved our room placement. We were on the 1st floor, closest wing to Epcot and steps from the pool ( not the waterview room, but directly across the hall from them) I can not wait to go back...doing a split stay with GF this time :)

This was our first time at the BC and first time at CL- I imagine things are pretty much the same at the YC CL:

Here is my bit of advice- don't try to do anything yourself! The CMs at the lounge bend over backwards for you. "Where can I sharpen a pencil?" "Let me go down to the lobby and do that for you" "Where should we put our dirty plates?" "We'll get that!" etc.

Unfortunately, they don't come home with you so it is a cruel return to reality when your vacation is over. :lmao:

I made all of my dining reservations myself, but they cancelled a couple for me when our plans changed.

It was REALLY nice having our park purchases delivered right to our room!

You will LOVE it!

Don't imagine anybody has pictures of the really yucky standard view CL rooms. The ones that are pretty bad are the ones we call "pebble beach". They look out onto the top of a roof which looks like pebbles. Some of the CL standard views are of courtyards and trees but some are really pretty bad. Where you were in May, those rooms don't exist on the fifth floor.

Tell your husband that just a short walk/jog/run to the east are tons of takeouts! Chinese/Mexican/Japanese/Fee&Chee (Fish n'chips)/Frenchpastries etc. Not open late, but still! :thumbsup2

And for the poster who wondered about pics of room views, try the Resorts Photos subforum..... there is a "worst room view pics" as well, should you feel the need to torture your self!

You will have to go to the Concierge Desk to have the tickets added to your KTTW cards - that's not done at the front desk. That's after you check-in and get your keys. You are correct that if you do an online check-in, they really really try to get you into a Room Ready -- however that is more true at the YC and BC. Because the Villas are almost always 100% occupied, we have to block people about 5 days before they arrive. We can't have any holes obviously. Therefore, they rarely move people around in the Villas.

The online check-in saves you a little time but not that much. You still have to wait in line. It's just faster once you actually get to the CM. And honestly, if you did an on-line check-in, you are NOT suppose to stand there and ask for your room to be moved or stuff like that. The whole idea is to quickly sign the registration card, pick up your pre-printed keys and get away from the desk as quickly as possible.

My advice since you will want to ask if your room is near the canal and on one of the higher floors, is that you just wait and go through a normal check-in. Then if they say no, you could ask if you could be changed to a room that fits your requests and if they say none are available on the day you check-in (which is entirely possible), then you could ask to be set up for a room change when one is available, perhaps the next day (there's a fee for that though). These are not questions that should be asked if you do online check-in. You can certainly ask them but again, the whole reason behind the online check-in is to get you in and out. No matter which way you go, you unfortunately will still have to go over to the concierge desk to have your tickets put onto your keys.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info Teena.

First of all, I hope your husband gets better soon!!!!

Now I understand that I need to wait in a separate line to have the park tickets encoded on our KTTW card. This is good no know in advance. I am such a planner, that would have thrown a curve in my day. :rotfl2:
I am also buying 1 AP and the TIW card on my way into Epcot that afternoon, so more lines are on the schedule.
Thanks Again for your help.

Just returned from bc on Friday and did not have a very good experience.....We checked in on Friday the 31st @ 10:30 am...our room was ready! Went up to the room to find 2 double beds(I requested at least 2 queens as it is myself dh, ds 16 6'2" tall and ds 13) 2 doubles will not work....I went down to the front desk and the moved us to the room next door 2 queens and a daybed that was great! We went to the park and back for a swim and off to bed as we were up at 4am. Tried to got to sleep but There was a very loud baning noise that lasted until midnight and started again at 6 am..I went to the front desk the next morning and Wilma asked what room we were in and she oh! it is the elevator sooo.....I asked to be moved again and she told me we would have to move our own luggage and wait until 11 am to check out and 3 to check back in....she did not seem very eager or symathatic to help. I was very dissapointed in this...Then half the time the elevators did not work ....you would get on them the doors would close and you would not move. This did not ruin our trip but was very disappointed in the beach club and will stay at our usual yatch club next time! We did very much enjoy breakfast at beaches and cream I hope they keep that up.

Teena -

Hope your husband is feeling better. We were lucky enough to meet him at CR when we went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. Just to let everyone know Bob is just like Teena - a real gem for the Contemporary!

That really is a nice perk! Will they automatically know to send them to our room rather than the store? I am making all of our dining ressies myself too. I am way too much of a control freak to have someone else do them for me. Im getting better though....Are you sure I can't take them home? hee hee

Yes, the packages are automatically delivered to your room- you don't need to mention anything at the time of purchase. Once, the CM at the counter even told us to pick up our items at the resort gift shop, but nope: it came right to us!

Bob is home from doctors. She is certain as she can be without doing the test (which she says is so expensive and you have to wait a few days for results) that he has swine flu and gave him the prescription for it. He takes two pills twice a day for 5 days. I've been instructed to sleep in the guest room until Friday and he's not allowed out until Friday. The antibiotics I'm on for my "bug" won't protect me from it so hopefully all the spraying of everything in the house with antibacteral spray will do the trick and I'm not infected. I guess if I'm okay by Friday, I'm home free.

It doesn't surprise me since he worked Sunday and Monday last week. He's with guests like I am all day and pin trades all day. Just one person with it shakes his hand and it's all over. I run into the back office and use hand sanitizer every 30 minutes when I'm working.

He's still not good tonight. Horrible sore throat. Hopefully with two of the pills in him already, he'll be a little better tomorrow.

So sorry to hear that Bob isn't feeling well. I'm a teacher, and my school was really hit this spring. Thankfully most people feel much better after being on medication for a day or two.
Hope to see you this weekend or the beginning of next week. Keeping my fingers crossed for you, so that you don't get the flu and are able to go to your daughter's!!! Best wishes to Bob for a speedy recovery.

Thanks Gina. If I'm not there Saturday, Sunday and Monday, you'll know why. Since you're a teacher, did you get the vacination? I'm going to ask my daughter if she doesn't think maybe she should get it. I'll tell Bob he should feel better in a day or two ... that should perk him up!

I didn't get the vaccination, b/c it wasn't available at the time. I will DEFINITELY get it for this coming school year. I always get the flu vaccine, and they say that this yr we'll need 3: one for the reg. flu and two for the swine flu. Hopefully I'll see you in a few days!

Is there any word on whether or not the breakfast at Beaches & Cream will continue?

Hope Bob feels better soon and that you don't catch it Teena.
