I just started reading this thread, but I just wanted to respond to a couple of things from the first week.

It was probably being used as a holding-area (the Wachovia Center) and the auditions were held at a hotel next door or very close by.

The Wachovia Center was used for the initial "cattle call" round of auditions, and then there was a round with the producers somewhere after that, and then the round with the judges was the third round. It was at the Hyatt. So when they were showing the big crowds of people waiting around, they weren't waiting for Simon, Paula, and Randy.

I hope Angela makes it to the end. Her daughter was so sweet, and the love and commitment from her family really put a lump in my throat. I was glad she could really sing, adn I hope she makes it! For her daughter's sake.

i'm the same way. i peeked and was disappointed that the few people i like whose names i do remember aren't on there. out of the 24 on the list i only recognized 3 names, and 2 were people i do not like of course

I tried to peek, but I am TERRIBLE with names during the audition round...
(and later if I don't like them ;-)
Last year one of the girls (Haley I think?) was "amazing shrinking dress girl"


This year we remember them like: Farmer boy, Nail peeling guy , etc...

Oh well, I hope they show more of Hollywood this year. Then you get a chance to really get to know more about the singers.

Did anybody know what song that guy was singing - the blonde guy who looked like he was singing to Paula? He got through. It was an older song, and I just can't remember what it was.... about half way through the show, when several got through at the same time....

I was a bit concerned when the show started off with a guy who was not only bad but sadly bad. Can we say AI stalker? I wonder if his Fox station will honor Simon's promise?

Jason, the guy who forgot the lyrics got through. Nice voice but I suspect that will be an ongoing problem.

The arm wrestler girl, Rachael, was pretty good.

The goth wrestler girl was pretty bad.

Samantha was the girl who auditioned with Ryan as a judge. No stage presence but what a nice voice. It was different and I like different!

Elizabeth, the girl who sang Heard It Through The Grapevine, was better than most as was the guy who sang If You Really Love Me.

Worst of the night: The guy who sang Shout.
Yawner of the night: The girl, Angelina, who wanted to please her Dad and went on and on and on and on....... YAWN!!

Best of the night: David Cook. Needs a new do but singing Living On a Prayer the way he did made his looks unimportant.
