The (2) Early Extra Hours in Fantacyland offer may hurt rope drop patrons.

If this new offer is successful, the large number of people who show up at Rope Drop and make the mad dash to the Mine Train, or Peter Pan, may be disappointed when they get there and the lines are already packed. I guess the theory is that everyone will have ridden everything in Fantacyland multiple times during the 2 hour window, and will either be eating breakfast, or will have moved on to another lands, waiting for other rides to open. If the latter is true, Rope Drop people who make the mad dash to Space Mountain may find a large number of people already in line there as well.

I don't think so - they can only sell so many tickets (let's face it you can only feed so many people at the buffet). And I believe they are getting in at 7:45 for a 9 am open so it's only one extra hour of exclusive time. I suspect those folks will be funneled into the FP line - quicker access to the rides and thus won't even be in the standby line

Is there a ticket sales limitation? Also, lots of people I'm sure will skip the breakfast. We would.

I agree they will probably be in the FP Lane on the 3 attractions that are open early for them. But that will definitely affect the RDers, since FP Lane has a huge priority over standby. So the wait time for those 3 rides will be longer (could be significantly longer) than similar wait times on days without early entry. Those that aren't in line for those 3 rides at RD will probably be eating breakfast, so I imagine the other attractions won't see a difference.

I think Disney is hoping everyone using this package will be eating or about to eat at 9 am, as not to affect rope drop guest. I know if I do this package I would be planing to eat somewhere around that time as to take full advantage of the shorter lines that way I can move on to other rides at by 10am.

Perhaps there won't be the same number of rope droppers at MK and they'll go to the other parks, concerned that MK will be too crowded already from the early guests. Which could make the other parks more crowded than usual at RD? Just a thought.

I think your average guest isn't even going to know about EMM. We here at Disboards know far more than the regular park goers.

I hear this a lot. That most people that go to Disney don't read here but this site has a ton of members so is this true??

The boards have a ton of members, but of the millions that visit Disney every year I would guess we are not a big dent in the percentage of annual guests.

There has to be a limit (no ones knows the number yet). As was mentioned the limiting factor is the number of people that can be fed until 10am (buffet closing).
Or...the limit will be the number of people that Disney can convince to attend with last minute free tickets.

I've thought all along the point of this was to limit the effectiveness and desirability of Rope Drop. I don't think WDW likes that stampede every morning, and if they can arrange it so it's not as big a benefit as it has been in the past, maybe the RD crowds will dissipate a bit.

I don't know if it can help, but RD used to be a small thing, and now it's turned into a very large aspect of a lot of people's plans. I think anything WDW can do to make it less attractive they'll do.

$70/adult & $60/child (+ tax) is a steep price for 90 minutes of extra park time to ride 3 rides, and a buffet breakfast. I'm sure people will pay it, but to me what you get is not worth what they are charging for it. I'm also not someone who runs to the most popular rides at rope drop. I use FP+ for those so I can save my sanity.

I could sort of see that (I don't like the stampede) but what harm does it do Disney? They're opening anyway. When they have the CMs "walk back" the rope vs a drop followed by running, there's no safety issue. . . Why do anything to combat RD as a strategy?

My one MK day is on an extra early hours day. It's the most recommended park and works with our schedule so I'm debating what to do. Do I go and hope that it's not extra crowded or do I do MK on a different day and go to the second most recommended park? We normally do RD so this may have a large impact on our day.

Of course it's all guesswork, but easywdw, kennythepirate seem to think it won't have painful impact. I'm concerned about what it might be, but in your shoes, I'd pick my existing plans and "most recommended" park over a fear of "what-if" and just keep your plans as is.
