We don't have our APs for this year, so it's been since November that we've walked on Disney property. A long time for Disney nuts. But before school started, and before I started a new job, we needed a quick trip. We had 5 one-day PH tickets that needed to be used plus 2 free nights at the HoJo through our Wyndham points (that means we've stayed there a lot!).
We hit both parks, but being a Tuesday, we hit DCA first because we didn't get early entry to DL. They have the park all Pixar'd up.

Of course, we hit Guardians, Radiator Springs Racers, and the "new" Incredicoaster. I don't have a pic here because they are everywhere. But I'll just this: although it's virtually the same as before, this is how it should've been from the beginning. Not just nameless, themeless ride, but a DISNEYcoaster.
Now, the tough part. Our last trip to Bug's Land. Say what you want, it means nothing to me. But this land was the best land form my very first family trip to DLR in 2006. To me, it was the only thing Disney at DCA. And all of our kids have enjoyed growing up in this land. To see it go makes me sad...and mad.

Heimlich's Chew Chew train was always my favorite and a family fave. So well themed....it will be missed.

Redwood Creek Trail is a must for our kids. Even on hot days! I've always found it so peaceful.

We headed over to DL after a lunch at Pacific Wharf Café. And while we had to catch up on FPs to get on track for the park, going into the overflow area for Star Tours was an air-conditioned treat on a 92 degree day. And although it shut down two of the fliers and made us wait 80 minutes, it was still nice to cool off...even if the kids were complaining about the looooooong wait.

After hitting all the big rides, catching the Pixar Play Parade, and running into a friend who works in admin there, we headed back over to DCA to catch Paint the Night. And really, for me, this is still the best work that Disney has done. Just an amazing parade. We got lucky and landed a spot right in front of Carthay Circle, so it made for a great backdrop. I'll post a few pics here and the rest in the Photo of the Day post.

And we loved the new Incredibles float with Jack Jack turning on fire every few seconds.

And because of where we were sitting, we were able to get up and move out of the park quickly. We ran the length of the esplanade so that we could catch the new fireworks show, Together Forever. We got there and got a decent standing spot in Town Square where we could see the fireworks and even Buzz flying over the castle. But the best was how they incorporated Main Street into the show. That made our spot extra special. The best part was when the UP house flew over the castle and there were "balloons" everywhere. So cool!

After watching that, we hit a few more rides, waved at the Fantasmic! on the Mark Twain in the dark area by Hungry Bear, and then trekked home. It was as much as I've ever squeezed into one day at DLR. We were worn out, but it was worth it!
Farewell, Bug's Land. Time to make room for what's commercial today.
