That's the first time we had to wear a poncho in Disney! A Mar./April '11 TR DONE 9/5

That Rapuzel tower must be new! Kadence wants to know why we missed it:lmao:

The pizza looks good, sometimes we build up something in our heads so much that it couldn't possibly meet our expectations. I had a burger once that was sooo good. They next time we went back to that place ,quite a few years later, I ordered thinking I was in for a treat. Not so much:confused3

I can't wait to see your R/F experiance!

We must have been very close to each other while in Japan and watching Illuminations! lol We were in Japan around that time too and sat very close to where you were for Illuminations. Via Napoli looks so cool, I really want to try it someday. That stinks that it didn't live up to your expectations though :( Your story about the family playing the game is so cute!

Catching up!:goodvibes

I love all your F&G pictures...so pretty!! We can't wait to meet Duffy next year! Your picture turned out great! Oh and I know what you mean about butterflies. I've always thought they were so pretty but since going to huge butterfly garden this spring and having so many of them flying all around...it definitely freaked me out!

I think with each trip to the WS, I've learned to appreciate it more and more. :thumbsup2

Catching up on your TR!

We went to Via Napoli in May and I loved it! Seeing your pizza picture makes me really wish I could get one tonight!

Great lion pictures from your second safari. Wow!

I'm glad you got a chance to enjoy Epcot while it was not raining. I enjoyed seeing all your F&GF pictures. :goodvibes

Loved your Via Napoli review! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to eat there in October, it's our last night meal, so I have high expectations for it! :snooty:

Those sand sculptures are so pretty! I hope they don't get ruined when it rains!

I love ending my Epcot day with Illuminations, I can't see that enough!

I feel the same way about World Showcase (and really Epcot in general). When I was there at age 15, I thought it was pretty boring. Then again, we really only looked in the shops that trip. Last year I loved it!

And I must admit, I wondered about the African Cats sculpture as well. I saw a picture of it several months ago and Mom and I were both going, "But what if it rains? Doesn't it wash away?"

Yeah, I think we figured out WS was fun when we did the passports on one trip. haha!

I really wonder if it was some special mixture because there is no way sand would've survived that rain.

We usually go at F&G time and I've thought about the sand sculptures too. Do you think they spray it with something?

Sure makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I'm sorry Via Napoli didn't live up to your expectations. It still looked like it was pretty good, like you said. I'm not a huge fan of the thinner-crusted pizzas, but when they have some nicer toppings, I'll love it (: And yeah, they definitely have something else with the sand to keep the sculptures together, though I think they have to, because I'm guessing it takes awhile to build them, so I'm sure they want to minimize upkeep by taking some little shortcuts (Way to be authentic, Disney!) And that's so funny that family was playing that game! (: My mom is a teacher and introduced me to that game, we play it a lot at restaurants and I think we may have played it at Disney at our ADRs, but I'm not sure, it just passes time. :thumbsup2 And I love your pictures of Spaceship Earth at night! So pretty! (:

Yeah, I think I'm giving people the wrong impression on Via Napoli. If I hadn't read anything beforehand I would've thought it was really good! I think because I had seen all the rave reviews I was expecting more. But it was still really really good. Yum!

Thanks for the compliment on the SSE pictures. I still wish I knew how to take better night pictures!

I had never thought of what would happen to that sand sculpture when it rains. Surely the rain would destroy it, if it were indeed made only of sand. How interesting.

It's kind of too bad that WS has it's only two rides right on the edge in Norway and Mexico. Maybe if they were spread out more, kids wouldn't feel as ride-desperate walking through WS.

Atleast now they have the Kim Possible missions because the kids seem to love those. I think that was a great addition.

Well your pizza sure looks good, sorry it didn't live up to expectations.

I think I would have been playing along with that game waiting for Illuminations too, sounds like a fun way to pass the time :thumbsup2

It was a cute game, and the boys were pretty adorable too. :)

You should try the green lasagna or the 4 cheese pizza next time at Via Napoli!

Mmm, 4 cheese pizza sounds good!

When we went to Via Napoli I had the spaghetti and Jasine had the lasagne...I was going to try the pizza this time around, but now maybe I`ll stick to the spaghetti:rotfl2:

I didn`t appreciate WS on our first trip when Jasmine was 6...I think mostly because she was tired and there was really nothing to catch a 6 year olds attention...she does love to wander there now though!!!:thumbsup2

No, you should try the pizza. It's still really good. I would get it again. But spaghetti sounds yummy too.

I was under the impression it was there for the F&GF but who knows. It was cute though. I think at night it lit up or you could hear Rapunzel singing.

Rapunzel/Flynn Rider update coming soon! popcorn::

We must've because I saw your picture of the drummers and thought how we saw them too. You should try Via Napoli! I hope my review doesn't turn everyone off to it because really it was pretty decent.

Catching up!:goodvibes

I'm sure your boys would have fun meeting Duffy. When are you going back?

The good thing about the butterfly house was that there weren't too many flying around yet...there were still a lot in their cocoons.

Catching up on your TR!

I know, I could go for some of that pizza now too!

Thanks...every time I look at that lion picture I'm still amazed we saw them both.

haha, me too. It sure makes walking around the park more fun when the weather's decent!

Loved your Via Napoli review! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to eat there in October, it's our last night meal, so I have high expectations for it! :snooty:

You will like it at Via Napoli. As I've said in some of the other comments I feel like I'm giving people the wrong impression now!

OOOHHHH... I'm really interested in the Italy restaurants since I had a magnificent buffet on Italy Isola and I'm guessing either Tutto Italia or Via Napoli made the dishes, but there was no pizza so I'm sure it's Tutto Italia. Now, I know one of my ADRs for my next trip (:

Your welcome and I'm pretty sure you can't any worse than my night pictures, mine are awful (You read my TR so I don't need to re-post the epic fails).

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

We've now reached the halfway point of our trip. Tuesday turned out to be pretty decent weather-wise, and it was looking like Wednesday was going to be OK. When we got up, the skies were overcast but any chance of rain was supposed to be later in the day. Our park of choice for that morning? The Magic Kingdom!! We didn't get there quite as early as we did on Sunday (I think there were some bus issues and it took forever for one to come) but we still got there in time to catch the end of the opening show, right as Casey Jr. was comin' round the track. :) The good thing was that we were able to go right into the park!

As you know, Claire and I had really been hoping to meet Rapunzel and Flynn Rider on Sunday but because of the crazy-long lines, we weren't able to. Our goal for the day was to check that off our list of things we wanted to do. Since the first meet and greet wasn't until 9:15, we decided to go to Tomorrowland. As we were getting closer to the castle, I noticed a huge group of kids. It looked like they were in a band, and they all had something yellowish-orange on their heads. Being from Wisconsin, one thing immediately popped into my head-Cheeseheads!!! Sure enough, when we got closer, they were indeed sporting cheeseheads.

Of course, I had to ask them if they were from Wisconsin. Turns out they were from a place called Mauston, which honestly I had never heard of. :rolleyes1 But we were able to catch them performing later on in the morning which was fun. Stay tuned for that...

So back to Tomorrowland. Our first stop was Space Mountain.

We also went on Buzz Lightyear.

By the time we were done with those two, it was around 8:30 or so. Remembering that the line for Rapunzel got really long really fast, we thought it would be a good idea to go over to the meet and greet area to see how many people were over there. Turns out there were maybe 20 or so people already waiting. Not bad at all. Knowing that this was going to be our best shot to meet Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, we got in line. To kill the time, we called home to tell Dad what we were up to. If you read his TR, he mentioned how he and my mom ended up going to get some fastpasses while Emma waited for Rapunzel so he suggested we do something similar. We thought about it, but decided not to. We also asked about the weather (again) and asked about Mauston.

Here's the view of the castle from the line:

And the sign.

Around 9:00 or so we were let into the little meet and greet area.

See those people in the orange shirts? I kept wondering if they were DISers because they had on homemade t-shirts and whenever I see shirts like that it always makes me wonder. hehe

Because we still had a few minutes before Rapunzel and Flynn would be arriving, one of the attendants gave us some instructions for when they came out-the usual stuff like have your autograph books ready, etc. And they had to provide some entertainment for the kiddos too! They were all invited to color Rapunzel pictures while they waited. Very cute!

And then finally, they arrived!
262765_763358586314_20305212_38795953_6690815_n.jpg

Before they started the pictures and autographs, Rapunzel wanted to dance with the kids. Again, very cute.
197536_740947358594_20306951_38443220_3932974_n.jpg

I also took a video, which is worth watching for a few reasons:
1.) The kids are so entertaining. I like how the one girl reaches for the little boy's hand but he doesn't notice so she doesn't know what to do. Then there's the little girl who runs back to her parents, crying.

2.) The female CM. She was so into the dancing. LOL!
3.) The little girls in their princess dresses. Again, adorable (especially the one in the Alice dress :cutie:).

Then Rapunzel and Flynn took their spots and were ready to start meeting guests! Another fun thing they did while you waited was one of the photopass photographers came around and took your picture with a stuffed Pascal, who is Rapunzel's chameleon sidekick, if you haven't seen the movie. As usual we enjoyed watching the other people meeting them. There was one girl who asked if she could get a picture with just Flynn. We think Rapunzel got mad about that. And then it was our turn!!! Claire went first. Rapunzel told her she liked her satchel and how Flynn should get one or something.

Then it was my turn!
254506_763358975534_20305212_38795969_8018672_n.jpg

I think Flynn had his character pretty spot-on, right down to the facial expressions.

We had a very brief conversation and one of them told me that I should get a frying pan. Again, if you haven't seen the movie, that's Rapunzel's weapon of choice. :)

Remember the lady CM from the video? She was the one taking pictures and I have to say she was really awesome. I didn't post them all but I think she took 4 or 5 pictures with my camera-she was almost like a photopass photographer! We ended with a group shot:

When we were done, we said good-bye and received little Rapunzel coloring books on the way out. So...mission accomplished! Both Rapunzel and Flynn were great. It was definitely a good idea to go to the first session because we really didn't have to wait all that long. Plus, it's worth it when you really want to do it!

Now that we finally got to meet them, what would we do next???

Great Rapunzel and Flynn pics! Rapunzel is so pretty, and Flynn looks just like he does in the movie! I'd really like to meet them! Did you hear Rapunzel is going to be made an official Disney princess in October? October 2nd, I believe, which happens to be an MK day for me! Maybe I'll get to see her get crowned! :thumbsup2

I love your video! That little girl who ran away was so funny! :rotfl:

Haha, cheese heads in Disney World LOL I don't know why, but it just sounds funny to me. That would be so cool if my school was from Wisconsin and we were cheese heads, but NO, we are the dang saber-tooth tigesrs... oh wait, those are extinct! Haha Maybe my school mascot is awesome... Can't wait to see where they performed in MK (though I'm pretty sure it's Main Street, but I could be wrong)

I love the little dance Rapunzel and Flynn did with the kids, so cute. And yeah, that CM was pretty funny to watch in your video and she took some fantastic pictures :thumbsup2

Can't wait to find out what you did next :teeth:

OMG, I have only ever seen that many cheeseheads at Lambeau!!!

Love the meet and greet with Rapunzel and Flynn. He really was spot on with his expressions. I always love the kids during those interactions. I'm really looking forward to taking my niece there.

I'm sure your boys would have fun meeting Duffy. When are you going back?

We are heading back next April for a week. We decided to hold off on the cruise for a couple more years. We missed not going to WDW this year and I couldn't imagine skipping it again next year.

Love your pictures with Rapunzel and Flynn!:goodvibes I'm glad it was such a great meet and greet. It's definitely a favorite movie around here...maybe I can talk the boys into going!:thumbsup2

I love that Rapunzel & Flynn came out and danced with the kids before they started the meet & greet - how fun! You had a great Flynn too, looks just like him :thumbsup2

Did you hear Rapunzel is going to be made an official Disney princess in October? October 2nd, I believe, which happens to be an MK day for me! Maybe I'll get to see her get crowned! :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure that I read that the official crowning was taking place in England, far way from the MK. I could be wrong though!

I am so excited to meet Rapunzel and Flynn Rider!!! They look just like their characters! Disney did such a great job of casting them!

 OMG I so must hunt them down when I'm there next!!! Where abouts is the meeting spot? Love the pictures and the whole interaction looks amazing! Can't wait to see what you were up to next :goodvibes

Haha, the Rapunzel tower kind of creeps me out. The "hair" is just a little skeevy to me!

I understand what you're saying about how you expected more from the pizza at Via Napoli. After reading reviews, I'm always expecting these life-changing experiences! Haha, and it's not to say things aren't good, but it's not necessarily the best food I've ever eaten. Of course, I'm also someone who's satisifed with food from chain restaurants, haha, so if I'm paying that much more money for something from WDW, I want it to change my life forever!

Haha, I love that you blurted out Kool-Aid!!! I love word games like that too; it's what I do with my students young and old when there's time to kill. I make up word games for our church retreat when I'm on social committee too!

I didn't get to wear a cheesehead hat when I was in marching band! Haha, I had to wear the regular marching band hat with the plume and stuff my hair up into it!

OMG, that little girl in the video with the long hair!!! Haha, that's insane! I think my favorite part of the video was the older CM who was really getting into the dancing!

I'm sorry you weren't wild over the VN pizza. I thought it was fantastic. I think the reason so many people aren't in to it is because it's a completely different style than any place I've been to or seen in the US. It's almost exactly like the real Italian pizza I ate in Naples, Italy. So I think it's just not what people are used to or expecting.

Wow you and your sister didn't have to wait long at all! When I met them, we got there pretty early also but MK was really crowded that day so it didn't make a difference.
That's awesome that the CM took so many photos! All of them look great, I really love the theming and colors they used in that area.
