Of course Disney is designed specifically to try to keep guests in :) & I can still remember being shocked the first time I read on here some Brits went to Florida and never left Disney property except to go to/from the airport.

.

You would be surprised how many amaricans dont know thre is universal/IOA/seaworld and bush gardens in florida
They just get on the ME bus head to disney and not come out till ME takes them back
Thats why disney offer ME free

hope you will enjoy your future visits to the dvc resorts deb
When you choose to stay onsite at WDW, you're paying for a unique product, I understand that, and that's why they can demand top dollar. Don't get me wrong, we do very much enjoy our stays, but we've been less than impressed with the condition of some of the rooms. In January, ahead of our main stay at Reunion, we spent 3 nights in a 2 bed at SSR, followed by 3 at BCV. The unit at SSR was immaculate, but the one at BCV left a lot to be desired. However, the whole purpose of staying at BCV was to be close to Epcot, so the condition of the room wasn't paramount. All three elements of our stay contributed something special to our trip. Had we spent the entire 18 nights at BCV, though, the state of the room would have been far more significant.

I agree completely Deb.

Whilst I loved the location of our only on-site stay so far at the Boardwalk, the room "left a lot to be desired" also.

Must be great to be at SSR and have a short stroll to Downtown Disney, or have the ESPN/BCV/EPCOT closeby if you stay at BWV (which it definitely was) these are some of the reasons I would choose on-site and partly why we will try a different experience next year at Polynesian but....
I don't get the "we are not in the room much anyway" scenario, Disney charge upwards of $450 a night or they did around the time we were there. I still want a nice room for that price.

DVC owners pay membership charges, I always presumed this was in a way for the up-keep of the accomodation.
