Now I can take retailers putting out the Christmas Decorations early....I can take the "news" shows talking about the hottest Christmas items of the season....I can even take the throusands of holiday commercials and advertising. I can take all of this before Thanksgiving but I draw the line at listening to Christmas Carols early! Last night on the way home one of the stations played "White Christmas!" IT IS TO EARLY! WHO IS WITH ME!!!! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!

I'm right there with you on the front line. I don't need to be reminded that it's getting near Christmas two months beforehand :p

Sorry I have been listening to my Christmas CDs for the past 3 days. :teeth:

I don't mind Christmas Carols, I find myself singing them with the kids in June. In our town though, the Christmas Parade is NEXT Saturday, Nov. 20th. It's not even Thanksgiving and we're having our Christmas Parade.

*guilty of loving Christmas music and listening to it occasionally year round*

But at the same time, I think it's odd for a radio station to be playing it so early...

White Christmas
had the distinction of marking the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.
As the North Vietnamese surrounded Saigon an evacuation plan was set into motion to bring the remaining Americans and some South Vietnamese to safety. The cue to evacuate would be a radio announcement that the temperature in Saigon was "105 degrees and rising," which would be followed by Bing's "White Christmas." When the moment of truth arrived Bing's voice triggered a mad scramble for the U.S. embassy, where helicopters were waiting.

I know of at least 2 Detroit radio stations that have been playing non-stop Christmas music since last Friday. It is just awful! On Christmas day they will be playing love songs for Valentines Day!

I had no idea

One if not two radio stations in Detroit are playing Christmas music all day - they started this past weekend. I don't mind....ok actually I'm one who likes to see the decorations and hear the music early :)

HOW IRRITATING!!!!! I feel your pain! You even have more tolerance than I do because I really don't like seeing things for Christmas anytime before Thanksgiving. That's how it used to be! It seems to get earlier and earlier every year. I'm just not in the spirit yet, and I hate being forced to be exposed to it. It just seems like the stores are trying to make as much money as they can by putting out the holiday items as early as possible. I can't believe you heard Christmas carols already!

I filled up the CD player on Saturday with Christmas music and played and sang while I cleaned house. When DH came upstairs from his ManCave in the basement, I thought for sure he'd make fun of me. But, no--he told me, "What a great idea! I'm glad you put those in--it makes our Christmas vacation seem closer."

LOL! It's time somebody took a stand! (Except I have to admit to the guilty pleasure of listening to christmas music for nearly a week now, lol)

If I choose to listen to Christmas music early, that's my choice. However, the radio stations have no business playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving - just my opinion.

Oh, and Santa should NOT be out and about at the local mall until after Thanksgiving as well! Let the poor guy rest until then!! :teeth: ::yes::

Hi Amanda!!!

It's funny that you posted this. I was at Babies R Us this morning and they were playing Christmas Carols!! I thought wow that's pretty early. The music was cute though it was little kids singing the Carols. :sunny: The kids and I have been listening to our Christmas CD's the past few weeks. (Disney of course) :teeth:
When I used to work at a retail store, they used to have alot of Christmas stuff coming in September. But they never started to play the Christmas Carols till the day AFTER Thanksgiving.

It's no wonder we can't wait for Christmas to be over before it even gets here. Then we can start listening to Easter songs!

I think it really takes a lot away from the actual holiday and all for marketing...

LOL me too. ::yes::

A radio station here in Atlanta was playing Christmas songs all day last Sunday. I agree, it is too early. They called it a preview. Like we really need a preview when it is right around the corner.
