Welcome to the DIS, and to the Flower & Garden board! :)

I know you're way over, cross the pond, but I hope you'll come back and tell us more about your gardens! :) :)

It's nice to hear from DISers in other parts of the world! :) :)

Thanks for the welcome Snowwark.

LOL - at the picture you found of the town where I live. :D

My garden is not very large but I really enjoy looking after it and I'm always on the look out for new additions to it.

I love reading the posts and threads here as your climate varies so much compared to ours. It is really interesting to read that so many of my favourite garden flowers are also favourites in the US.

I'm so pleased you saw this Thatcats, I was afraid you might be gone!! :)

It doesn't matter whether your garden is large or consists of a few potted plants, it's the pleasure it gives you that's important.

We'd love to hear what you do have growing. When you have a chance, let us know! :)

Kim :)

Hi Gina and Kim:wave:

Well I've just got back on the boards - had a busy couple of days.

If you are interested here a few details about my garden. Firstly the house I live in was built in 1933 so when I bought it I waited a year without doing too much in the garden to see what was already there in the garden as the seasons progressed. So I have 'inherited' daffodils which flower around March time, red tulips in April, perenial geraniums which flower in June and a yellow climbing rose which flowers from June until the first frosts come.

I have a south facing garden so the plants on my patio near the house flower and thrive much better than in other places. I have planted clematis - a pale lilac and dark purple ones that climb the back wall of my house. Two years ago I bought a grape vine which spends most of the winter looking dead but springs to life around May and has produced many bunches of grapes this year.
I also have a golden bamboo growing in a container on my patio too and a small water feature.

Further down the garden I have a lawn bordered by flower beds which have a variety of different plants flowering at different times depending on the season and I have a herb garden with herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme and chives which I to cook with.

The main problems that I have are with slugs and snails that do so much damage - they have been particularly bad this year as we have had a lot of rain this summer.

I am always tempted by new plants that I see in my local garden centre and on various web sites. I am currently looking for some new shrubs and a small tree but as winter is fast approaching I will have to get one very soon or wait until the Spring.

I am interested to read the threads here and seeing some your beautiful gardens.:)

thatcats - Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you inherited beautiful gardens. You will have to post pictures for us next spring and summer.
