Whoever started the "new sew blanket" thread, thanks! I just finished my grandpa's Christmas present. :) Despite pinning, it's bunched up a bit along a couple of the edges, but oh well. It was fun to do.

Question for those who have done one: did your fleece stretch a lot in one direction and almost none at all in the other, or did I get the wrong kind of fleece?

Dw made one of these & it is the most comfortable thing in the house...:)

The stretching fleece in one direction got annoying by the end, and my back was killing me (I really need to get a better thing to lay a blanket out on than the bed -- but thanks to whoever suggested using the bed as a table!). But I'm considering making one for us, too. :) I'm just afraid the kitties (Skye especially) will chew on the fringe and hurt themselves.

Aren't they wonderful, Rajah? :) :)

Sorry, I didn't really have any problems with the fleece stretching at all... in any direction. How expensive was the fleece you bought?

The one that stretched the worst was a $4.99 solid from Hancock. I know Hancock typically has lesser-quality fabrics, and I suspect that's why. But I didn't want to get "really expensive" fleece and then end up totally messing up the entire thing.

No I didn't have a problem either. I bought the stuff at Joanns on sale.

I made three or four of them last year. I actually laid them out on the floor, and then did it that way.

Hmm... I guess I'm going to have to make a trip to JoAnn's and see if they have better quality fleece down here. Fleece isn't exactly in high demand in Houston! ;) More I think about it, the more I want a blanket of our own, and the more I want to make one for my mom, if I can find good patterns. :)
