That tri state travel ban to FL....

Florida had 5500 new cases today. A record high, and 27 percent higher than the previous record high! that was set just three days ago. This bears repeating, but if this continues, there is no way that Disney World can reopen on July 15th. We're effectively back to March all over again except now Florida is New York.

They will reopen.

In order not to eat the same words again I had to in March, I wouldn’t be so sure. Even if they do, this is going to stop a lot of people from coming. Disney isn’t going to lose money just to open the doors. They may keep DVC open, but I can sure see where they’d put the brakes on opening the parks. Right now, there’s nothing to make us think the numbers aren’t going to just keep skyrocketing.

I mean, you can have this opinion, but it is most likely incorrect if the current rate of cases continue to skyrocket in Florida.

Also, just to be clear, the previous poster mentioned opening on July 15 - of course WDW parks would open at some point in the future.

I mean, you can keep reading and see my follow up reply though.

Yeah, your followup reply said the same thing - that they won't delay the opening. Anyway, it's all speculation at this point, but if the rate continues to go up at the current pace, WDW parks will not open on July 15.

I mean this not to be at all argumentative, but I am really concerned that people travelling to Disney World right now if these numbers hold out are putting their families in jeopardy. This is a really dangerous and deadly disease, and Florida looks really really bad right now.

And people thought I was crazy for saying they shouldn't reopen in 2020...

Yeah we are at a point where florida needs to be concerned about the exponential growth we were worried about in march which didn't happen due to measures put in place. There is time between now and July 11th for FL to start going exponential and if that happens all bets are off.

I think a lot of us couldn’t believe they’d ever close. I thought when they closed in March and we lost that trip, our late June trip was safe, they’d be closed a few weeks at most. Now, I don’t put anything out of the realm of possibility.

At this point, I’m very glad we made the decision not to go. It wasn’t based on the virus, at the time, it wasn’t jumping like this. But now, we would’ve definitely cancelled based on numbers alone. M not risking my family’s health to go on vacation. I can’t imagine traveling to FL and that’s with my state setting records daily as well.

I was just pointing out that it's been a roller coaster of opinions on what they would do vs what they should do. I never thought they would close, but we knew next to nothing about the virus then.

I think they are reopening too soon, but I would be shocked again if they delay.

If there is a delay I think it would come due to pushback from the unions.

The growth is already exponential. The numbers currently appear to be doubling every 5-7 days.

This feels very much like early March. Not in terms of numbers necessarily, but in the way the impossible may become reality.

Never say never. I think they will avoid closing (or delaying the opening) as much as they can but if they absolutely have to take action I think they will.

And people were questioning why the park reservation system says "a reservation does not guarantee park admission"

Everything says that on their site, even APs and tickets when you purchase them. That's standard Disney speak.

How can any of it be reasonably enforced? Will they have authorities go around knocking on doors to check in and make sure you don't leave?

The requirement to take an additional 14 days of vacation at home before returning to work might have an impact on plan

Funny that California isn’t included in their quarantine when they have some of the highest daily numbers of any state currently.
California doesn't currently have a % positive rate high enough to make the cut.

Forgive me for my ignorance... but need some clarification... If you live in one of the states that just announced this are they are saying once you leave FL you need to quarantine at home (in NY, CT/NJ) for 14 days? Or quarantine in FL for an additional 14 days after your trip has ended? I want to make sure one can leave FL after their trip and be able to quarantine at home for those 14 days... I hope this made sense

IF they delay the reopening that announcement is going to be very last minute. It's already 3 weeks from now and the system just went live 2 days ago to reserve parks.

A lot can happen in 3 weeks.

I think so too.

Yet another reminder to be willing to change plans last minute if you’re traveling anytime soon (anywhere for that matter, not just Disney). It might mean a restaurant is closed without warning, it might mean your entire trip isn’t happening (by your own decision, your states, or Disney’s).
