That Mickey sure is one smart cookie!! May 2011 CBR TR (update 08/13)

So awesome that you saw Tiana and Naveen! And they discussed their "friends" with the kids!

So what's the recipe on page 48? :confused3

Too cute that Maya didn't want to get her Rapunzel shirt wet! Is she part cat? (I am totally part cat, I hate wet rides!)

Too adorable that James fell asleep! I've felt my eyelids get heavy while on/in attractions before ... and it's hard to fight! It would be absolutely hilarious to see a boat full of sleeping people though. :lmao::rotfl2:

Awwww, Jame is so precious asleep from It's a Small World!

Love that you got both Tiana and Naveen! We have never seen Naveen there.

Too funny about the monkey!

I guess I'm not too observant. I just noticed up above about another thread, and now I see a ticker!! And a PTR!!!

Yes, i have a PTR! i love PTR's because they mean trips!!!! Its a short trip because of the school schedule, but we get F&W & MNSSHP!

Naveen was awesome. really entertaining. we lucked out with a few princes this trip, but he was the best by far.

I couldn't believe he had actually fallen asleep in there. it really did take a while to get through once we stopped a few rooms back.

I would love to be a fly on the wall and hear the stories of places the CM's found people sleeping. I bet they have a few interesting ones:rotfl2:

I have no idea where the not getting wet came from. She must have thought her shirt would ruin. i'm sure i had told her to be careful because we couldn't use traditional stain treatments on it. i'm sure i freaked her out about ruining it.

you would ask me a question like that:lmao: i can't say i remember off the top of my head and it has a section table of contents rather than a front of the book table of contents so i couldn't even cheat to find out:rotfl2: I'm goign to make a guess that it is the dessert section, which means its probably beignets. maybe i'll remember to look at home.

:rotfl2: Could you imagine?! Dh has fallen asleep at the American Adventure and Carousel of Progress. He snored at both.

chris always falls asleep at VOLM at DHS. maybe i should take him on COP next time he starts to get a little grumpy at MK :rotfl2:

The Tiana and Naveen meet looked great. It's always nice when the characters actually interact instead of just signing and smiling for a picture. I love that Tiana gave the page of her fav recipe.

After you mentioned the cookbook, I looked it up on amazon. Have you made any of the recipes with Maya?

How cute that James fell asleep. That would have been to funny if the whole row was asleep, that certainly wouldn't look good to the people about to get on.

I think Tiana and Naveen are a great meet too. We were impressed with them last year too.

i think we made maybe one recipe out of it, but it was a while ago. i need to weed out some of our books- we have too many, but she loves to read and i have a hard time letting go of them.

it was slow moving, and it was cool in there. but you are right, i probably woudl have left anyway if it was a new to me ride and a whole row was asleep:lmao:

F&W and MNSSHP are awesome!! Great time to go! I subbed to your PTR.

great! thanks!

I missed some of your updates catching up now though :)

Maya makes a very pretty princess (yeah I missed everything from BBB onwards!)
I was finishing a masters though so I have an excuse :rotfl2:

i forgot this one earlier

James was still asleep. We decided we would go ride something he can't. But of course as soon as Chris transferred him to the stroller he woke up.

So instead we headed to Columbia Harbor House for lunch.

columbia-harbor-house-sign.jpg

Chris had the shrimp and i had the tuna. Each kid had an uncrustable, and we got all 4 sides between the both of them. This used our last cs credits. I paid for James out of pocket- $5.16

After lunch we grabbed a fastpass for splash. At this point, we had 7 sets if you count the two surprise philharmagic. i'm not sure how i'm going to function next trip with having to use the FP during the time. It was so nice to collect!

Maya asked to ride pirates next. She just loved this on this trip. I think it was because she knew it is her pawpaw's favorite ride. The posted standby was 17 minutes, but in actuality it took us 10.

Once again I rode with the commentator.

"duck mom, he's going to shoot you...Whew that was close"

"now where is that hairy leg pirate? There he is why doesn't he wash
that dirty foot?"

We had hoped James would fall back asleep but he didn't.

Torguga was actually open. It was the first time we had seen it running all week. I wished we had noticed it before lunch.

After a quick restroom break, Jasmine and Aladdin caught our eye. We had not met them yet this trip, and we had a message to pass on from Naveen. I had not taken an after lunch break yet, so I did that while Chris waited in line with the kids.

When I was finished they were next in line. So I crossed the rope and joined them with the camera. The CM asked me what I was doing and I told her joining my family. She said ok, and took my photopass card. Chris and the family behind me both gave me dirty looks.

It was then our turn. James decided he didnt want to see them. Maya told Aladdin that Naveen said his monkey needs a bath. Jasmine giggled and said she agreed, Abu smells like dirty feet and old potato chips feet:rotfl: Aladdin asked if we would please tell Naveen he smells like a frog the next time we see him.

We grabbed our book and moved out of the way for the next family. It was then Chris explained the eye roll. While I was on break, apparently Chris left Maya in line and stepped out to grab a pen for the autographs. He cut across the part of the line that was closed off instead of pushing through all those behind him to get back to his spot. Well he got yelled at. The man behind him him told her "get a life, rope police". Apparently she had a few words herself but kept them under her breath. Then I came in not knowing the situation and did the same thing and she said it was ok :rotfl: what can i say, i must be special;)

Aladdin's carpet was about 15 minutes. We asked James if he wanted to ride, and he said yes. Yet he made the same nervous leg shaking moves.

Once again Jessie and Woody's line was redonkulous when we passed it. We are going to have to pay attention to their schedule and be in line just prior to their opening next trip. She's on my must meet list.

Maya didn't want to ride Splash or Thunder. Neither of the kids were really acting like they felt top notch. I think the long week was catching up to them. We let them play at the playground while Chris and I used the fastpasses.

Don't get me wrong, I love riding with my daughter. But it was a total different experience. I didn't have to answer the question

"what size is the next drop- small, medium, or the big one?"

or listen to "there is frog frog."

or" I'm going to call him Jim because o don't know his name".

I was able to just enjoy the ride, to take it all in. The family in front of me was obviously on their first ride. You could hear them at every turn.

"oh here it comes, nope that wasn't it."

I remember that experience and how fun it was. I was able to better appreciate it. It seemed so long and detailed. I have to admit, by the third day of riding it, I just wanted to do the large drop over and over.

Actually, now that the rides are familiar to me most of them seem quicker. Everything from basic (Peter or safari) to thrill (tot or splash). Too bad waiting for my turn during child swaps doesn't feel the same. By this point I was definitely bored at the playgrounds.

The Kids weren't though. Maya had made another friend and once again included James.

"this is James. He's my little brother. He's only 2. Do you want to play James?"

Maya needed a restroom break so we quickly went. Of course that was when Chris finished with his ride. He didn't see us at the playground, so he went to check where we parked our strollers. We happened to meet up on the way back to the playground. It wasn't a big deal in our case, but it could have been. Just another reminder that we need to be better about making a plan in case of separation.

Chris and I then used our BTMR FP. The lines were short, and if Maya had any desire to ride we would have saved them and just gone standby.

We cut next to the water towards Liberty Square. We were caught by the tail of the parade at the end of the shortcut. As we watched we asked the kids what they wanted to do next. Maya seemed to have little desire to ride. so we decided we'd use our fastpasses, stop at the emporium, and head back to the hotel. On the way back to fantasyland, both kids fell asleep.

Chris and I decided to stop for ice cream at Storybook. We took our ice cream to the outside seating at Pinocchio's and just relaxed for a minute. We used snack credits for brownie sundaes. we also picked up a couple free waters.

All of a sudden I heard "chocolate milkshake".

Silly girl woke up as soon as she heard the word ice cream :rotfl2:

James was still asleep, so Chris stayed with him while Maya and I rode Peter. It took about 7 minutes with our fastpasses. She then needed another restroom break. When we came back, Chris had a shopping bag. Weird. I had no idea what was in it.

I got a little behind, but I'm back. I enjoyed your updates. It's funny when the characters send messages to other characters through the children. They didn't do it with my daughter, but we were behind two girls at the Jasmine and Aladdin meet and greet. Jasmine was into asking who else the children would see that day. When they said Ariel, she told them to tell Ariel and Eric to tap dance for them. And we were behind them when they got to Ariel and Eric. I could have :rotfl2: at the look on their faces and them doing their best to tap dance for those girls.

Can't wait to find out what was in that bag.

please don't apologize! i'm behind on my own AND yours! thanks for the compliments!

No worries.. I'm slow with mine. I'm only finished day 10 of 16 and it's taken 8 months to get to Day ten.. Wonder will I finish by November... I'm going to DLP in November :cloud9:

I love that Maya woke up at the word ice-cream :thumbsup2

that girl has such a sweet tooth!

Love the update. The pics are great!

I think prices have gone up for all the kid's meals. They aren't $4.99 any more. Also the price of kid's meals at the TS restaurants have gone up quite a bit too.

Too funny that Maya's ears were tuned into ice cream!

yeah, i noticed a lot of the kids meals seem to be $5.50- and some a couple of dollars more.

maya is totally tuned to sweets! thanks for the compliments on the pictures!

When i last left off, we were in the afternoon of our last full park day. We were at Magic Kingdom, and the long week was catching up to all of us.

I noticed at that point that the line for Rapunzel was really long again...

so just how far does this line go?

We wondered through the Emporium. The kids were not being good shoppers, and it was crowded. We ended up with 2 water bottles I had looked at earlier in the week, and a sticker set. (3.95,5.95)

On the way out, Chris commented on the personalized stones. He asked how we could get one  what, is that a sign of Disney affection you are showing? I told him to get one we'd have to backtrack to 1995. Since he's not interested in reliving his youth, he asked if we should buy a bench instead. Sure, I'd probably have to sell my house to finance it, but sure! He decided instead he'd rather get Disney to invest in a restaurant.

We walked up to a very patient bus driver. He waited on the people ahead of us to fold, which gave us enough time to make it to the bus queue. Then he waited on us to fold our strollers, which enabled a third family to do the same. We left the MK about 6pm.

I think the nap must have done Maya good. She kept randomly yelling I love you momma. I live you daddy. She once again brought up how excited Mickey must have been to leave us all the letters and surprises. She was genuinely concerned that he would be confused after when we were gone.:rotfl2:

When we were back at the room, Chris and the kids pulled out the shopping bag. Apparently, it was bothering him still that I had not bought much for myself. He knew that I had looked at quite a few frames but decided I have too many frames already. So they picked out this lovely photo album for me :lovestruc and said thank you for planning the trip.

Chris' phone was a piece of junk on this trip- the battery was not holding a charge. So he had left it in the room to charge today. He had a message. He was then on the phone for about an hour. He is a chef, and his restaurant is inside of a casino. It closed for a few weeks because of the Mississippi River flooding. The thought when we left was that the river would crest a couple days after we left, and still not be low enough to open until a few days after we returned.

The call said that the hotel would open Thursday, and his steakhouse would be the only restaurant to open along with it. So instead of having the days needed ro get all the equipment back in, get food, etc, they had 6 hours. And he would be traveling instead of there to oversee his restaurant. To say the call stressed him out would be putting it lightly. I was so glad that this call didn't come before this point in the trip because it completely changed his demenor. All of a sudden he wanted to be home immediatly. His head and heart were no longer on vacation.

I was sad that our trip was coming to an end. I was not ready to leave. I think I'd really like to do a 2 week trip next time, taking a couple days off here and there. Or just doing mornings at the parks and some afternoons relaxing. I really hope that everyone else will agree to go back to the MK in the morning. I didn't tell the parks goodbye.

Maya had fallen asleep on the bed; we let her rest until 8pm, and then went up to OPR. I snapped a bunch of pictures around the dining area.

We ended up here.

DSCN1540.jpg

Being out of credits, the economical choice was one large pizza for about $15 with tax. We also used a couple snack credits on side salads.

We stopped at the shop again. James still had not picked out much at all. He ended up finding a small bouncy ball that lights up and a spinny sorceror Mickey like the Minnie he had played with during his hair cut. Maya picked out a ballerina bobblehead. They didn't have one in a box, but the cashier wrapped it up so very carefully. Somehow the arm still came off I'm transit, probably from my overstuffed suitcase. I was able to superglue it, but If they don't have the box on a future trip I'll pay for them to ship it so they are responsible if it breaks. I decided to go ahead and get the pooh frame as James' special gift from Mom and Dad I also snuck in a pair of earrings to give Maya a a later date.

DSCN2069.jpg

Maya told the CM we are leaving tomorrow. She replied with I bet your momma is already planning the next trip. Maya's response- we are planning three more!:rotfl2:

My dad called and talked to Maya. He asked her if she was having a good time. She said momma did a lot of work so we could come here :lovestruc such a sweet appreciation from a 5 year old!

We stopped at our room to change into our suits. Only because it was our last night, we were going to go to the quiet pool. It felt nice outside, but the water was chilly. We stayed for just a short while. You know it's cold when you have to stop at the lightposts to warm up on the way back to your room.

Maya wasn't happy to leave but we had no choice. It was 10:30 and we had not started packing yet. Luckily she was ready for bed when we got to the room. The kids fell asleep quickly and we didn't have to worry about the lights being on. I was ready for bed too. But it took about two hours to get everything strategically stuffed into suitcases in a manner that protected new purchases and left them under the weight limit. Each suitcase got some clothes. Then some park and room stuff, then some purchases, then some more clothes for padding and protection. As a result, I had no idea where anything was packed.

I really want to bring less next time. I just get so caught up in what we may need and the fact that we don't have a car. Paying full price for something makes me sick to my stomach- let alone paying resort prices. We used most of what I brought, other than some medications/ first aid. But by this point in the evening i was sick of stuffing random things in random places and ready to leave everything here.

My feet were stuck to my shoes because of the blister bandaids. I decided to go sit outside for a minute and pry them off. When I opened the door the sprinklers were going off. There were frogs lined up and down the pathways waiting for the sprinklers to stop.

Finally I set an early alarm and climbed into bed to join the rest off family in dreamland

I have no clue how I missed your updates from 2 weeks ago:confused3

It makes me so sad when I see trip reports that have Flynn with Rapunzel:sad1:. I wish they would bring him back. I would stand in that long line to meet him.

The food court at CBR looks like it has tons of choices. For some reason CBR always falls to the bottom of my list of places to stay though. Maybe because it's the last moderate to have full size bed? I need my SPACE!

I hate the last day but at least your trip is almost here:dance3: I am hardly on the boards lately and just realized how soon my trip is. We will be leaving on our cruise in something like 24 days? I can't wait but I am so behind in preparing.

I have to go see if I'm up to date on your PTR. Probably not:upsidedow

I love the pooh frame.
Boo to it being the end of your trip but yay to the planning three more :thumbsup2
