It's all over the news. Have you read it? I read it. Can't link to the actual thing, but if you want to read it I'm sure you can guess where it is. What do you think about it, whether you've read it or not? The "N" word and the "sexist" comments? Do you wonder why anybody even cares about what John Mayer says or otherwise?

What's your call?

I still love his music, but I hate his personality. It just sucks.

That word is thrown around like crazy in the black community. It is used in songs and in everyday life. Once a white person says it though, all bets are off and they are a TERRIBLE person. The hypocrisy with that word is insane.

I don't think he should have said it but people blow things like that way out of proportion. Who cares if he doesn't want to have sex with black women? I'm going to go out and say that I find some black men attractive (just like I find SOME white men attractive) but I could never see myself with one sexually. That's just not who I am attracted to. I would never rule it out completely though. That does not make me a racist.

As far as talking about his sex life with women he's dated, he should learn that less is more. I think he was wrong to specifically name Jessica Simpson. I don't really have room to criticize though because I'm pretty open with people about my sex life, not that there is much to tell. However, I'm not in the public eye. I would never talk about it to a national magazine though and name names (no matter what the demographic of that magazine is)!

its obviously publicity for his failing album.

Is it really failing? I knew it was number one in its debut week but haven't kept up with it after that. If so that sucks but it happens.

i heard that it wasn't doing too well, but i could be wrong.

ya it's not doing too well, i work @ a music store and i have to change the top 40 chart every week and he's still on the chart but in the lower half. i don't remember it ever being #1

as for the interview...all i can say is whatever. he shouldn't have said it -- specifically in an interview in a magazine that tons of people are going to see. it wasn't really funny, but now he's being made out to be the devil, which i don't believe he is...he's just a guy with a big mouth.

Yea it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, I remember that clearly. I just looked on wiki and it says that it has sold 792,000 copies in the US. I guess that is ok but not great for an artist like him, especially since it fell to number 13 in its second week.

Whatever, this whole thing isn't going to make me like his music any less. He has written some really great songs (Waiting On the World to Change, Daughters, Dreaming With a Broken Heart, Say....I could go on). He isn't one of my FAVORITE artists but his songs are really good and that doesn't change just because he said some stupid things.

1 million percent agree.

I dont think it started off failing, and its a great album, its a shame it isnt doing better.

::yes::

Personally im a HUGE John Mayer fan.
I love his music, and I love him, despite the fact that he makes himself look like an ****** and that he really needs to filter himself.
I think his apology was sincere though and people need to forgive and forget. http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/st...er-breaks-down-in-tears-after-public-apology/

Amen.

His earlier music through his Continuim (sp?) are all amazing. I am not a fan of his new album.

I like him as a musician but I don't think he is a very bright or nice person.

I used to love him. I thought his music was so cute.
But, ever since "Who Says I Can't Get Stoned" I've hated him.
Honestly? Who writes a song about that?

i don't think it's necessarily a song about getting stoned...it's just a song about doing whatever you want to no matter what other people think.

i still think he's a great artist, and generally i think he's a funny person, but in this interview he was just trying to be too funny and push the envelope and it backfired majorly. funny how they focus on the racial slur though and no mention of the anti-gay slur. kinda weird how that works :confused3

I think what Mayer said was blown out of porportion, but at the same time if he had applied some common sense (which I believe he lacks) he wouldn't have anything to apologize for. I'm still a fan (I've been a fan since 2002), but I wish he'd wise up.

I don't think that's something that most men possess. Actually, they have common sense but probably don't think things through as much as women do. I think women are more sensitive and care about feelings more than men in some instances. I think he also has a lot of growing up to do if he feels the need to want this much attention. He's 32.

The idea of men in the public eye you mean...just like they make every sensitive guy must be gay. I care about other people and always put there needs before mine, and I have feelings too...but I am straight. Im not a player or anything like that and I would never cheat or talk bad about a girl I have/had a relationship with. He is just a terrible person. But I do believe he needs to grow up fast.
