That first 200!

Super excited... our budget would not allow an August FD trip this year but our family (well really me and DW b/c the kids don't know yet) is determined to go to our happy place this year.... after several weeks of budgeting, hand wringing, and survey completing over at SR... we will be ready to book for Christmas with The Mouse on Friday!!! I am thrilled like... well, like a kid on Christmas morning just to be able to BOOK the trip! Am I the only one who feels such a deep satisfaction from dropping that first 200???

Nope totally excited here on that first payment although ours was for HDDR, since we booked dining first.
We took a complete left turn over the past few days. I had been unable to convince DH to go back after a disasterous first trip for our kids in June 2009. He said that was it - never again. I had pretty much given up and started planning to go with a girlfriend and our children without the husbands.

I told my parents, who have a condo near Tampa of my plans and a few hours later the asked us to come discuss something. They (mom) was planning to head down before Christmas this year and ask DH, the kids and I to come for the holidays. I was so excited - DH enjoyed the portion of the trip we spent at my parents place in '09. We said ok (well he said ok, I jumped for joy) and then they suggested maybe we could all head to Disney for a few days at the first of the year. I guess I should have used the power of MIL persuasion in the first place.

Now it's going to be two weeks at my parents' followed by about 8 days for us at Disney with my parents joining us for four days.

The first booking I made was HDDR because my parents love it and wanted the kids to experience it. Since we have no dining plan yet - it's booked and paid for and I'm thrilled!!

In the three days since, we've now booked room only to be changed when the pkgs come out as well as all of our dining.

AND, my I've still got a discussion with my friend about she meeting us after my parents leave but bringing her DH as well and she and I will do the parks with the kids and the hubbies can do something else.

You know, our first trip ended in disaster too... we all came down with one of those nasty viruses that everyone talks about... DS7 was losing his lunch all over MCO and at the layover in Charlotte... which is where we were stuck overnight! The next day, we got on the plane, and DS4 decided it was his turn to join in on the fun. The plane ride home was horrible with two sick little ones... fortunately it didn't hit me or DW... until we made it home! ... ... ... so why say all that??? Even with such a horrible end to our trip... WDW was still the most magical place we had ever been and we were willing to risk it to go back... again, and again, and again... lol

Same kind of situation here - high fevers in 110 degree heat. We drove down from Canada, so three days in the confines of the van was enough to ensure we all had it just in time to arrive. Actually I think we may have had H1N1 but didn't know it.

I WISH DH took the attitude that it was still magical because for the kids and I it still was. All I can do is hope this trip turns out so much better for him that he gets bitten by the DisBug as well.

Our entire family ended up sick on our last trip as well!! And when I got home, I worked on Monday and Tuesday....Wednesday I went in and ended up at the hospital - come to find out, I had pneumonia! It was hard and I thank goodness my MIL was there to watch one kid while we (DH and I) took the others to the parks; otherwise, we all would have been stuck at the resort feeling awful.
