That Fantasy can't steal our Magic! March 30, 2012

Oh, and I was thinking of emailing spreadsheet with everyone's cabin# and email address after the holidays? If y'all want to PM me your cabin# (if you know it) and email address I will start putting that together...... I think we will start getting a lot more people in the next couple of months...... :thumbsup2

BONUS!!!! :thumbsup2

We are fortunate that we are only a 9 hour drive from the port. And it's actually a pretty funny drive for us..... at least last time. The whole time from the backseat.....:sad2:

Not sure if this time will be MORE exciting, or less, since we know what to expect. Jeff just told me the other night that he was NOT looking forward to our last cruise at all. :scared1: Of course, after it was done he admitted it was his favorite vacation of all time, but for whatever reason, he did not think we'd like it. He was just appeasing me though, because I was so bummed that we'd moved so far away from WDW...... And luckily, he was pleasantly surprised......

160 days???? :cool1:

Lucky girl - only 9 hours!!!!!! We were thinking of driving to my sisters in Hilton Head on Thursday night and then driving the rest of the way to port on Friday, but figured we would be to rushed on Friday. Plus didn't want to risk missing the ship:scared1:
So, now we are leaving sometime Thursday afternoon when Justin gets out of school (after 4:30) and driving straight.
Me and dh will probably need a couple of adult beverages after that...... yes that is the reason we will need adult beverages...... well, that is my story and I am sticking to it:rotfl2:

March 30 cannot come fast enough!!!
They are calling for snow mixed with rain tonight here:scared1:
It is so cold- what happened to fall?
I just keep thinking in five short months i will be en route to sunny Florida and the Magic:thumbsup2

Hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.... :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I know!!! We were almost 80 here yesterday and tonight they are calling for some wintry mix in the mountains (we are only 1 hour from Asheville NC), and I'm seeing all kinds of crazy facebook postings about that fluffy white stuff. Yuck!!!!

154 days????

My sympathies to you poor east coasters who are having to deal with winter already. I'll be nice and just keep our weather forecast for the day to myself :rolleyes1

But just think - in exactly 5 months we'll be getting on our ship! :cool1: Can't wait. I'm still shopping around for airfare, but it's making me crazy looking for a good deal (I don't think there are any!). I think I'll probably just lock in a Southwest flight soon and be done with it.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

The nice thing about SW is that you can find another fare and there's no penalty to change it! You can get credit for the lower fare! The bad thing for you is that SW planes don't have the movies, do they?

I know what you mean - I keep looking for a lower fare as well and there are none to be had!! We will be going Southwest as well as they are one the few non-stops from Baltimore.

No, no movies and no real food, but the free bags make up for it, especially when we go on a cruise! (I keep saying I'm going to pack less, but for some reason I can't seem to make that happen; the bags keep piling up. I hear about people who go on a 7 night cruise with just a carry on and I'm amazed - I need a whole carry on just for my shoes!) And we take ipods, iphones and Kindles to keep ourselves entertained on the plane (see what I mean - yet another carry on just for cameras and electronics!)

Jeff and I were just talking about how many CORDS we have to take these days! I always take my laptop so I can download pics at the end of the day.... so there is that charger, phone chargers (2), camera battery chargers (2), video camera battery charger, flip camera charger, nook chargers (2), I swear we need an extra bag for all the chargers!!!! We always give Ally one of our older cameras and video cameras so she can take all of 3 pics the whole trip :sad2: but if we don't let her take one, she feels neglected. So there's another charger or two!!!

Kate, that flight issue happened to us on a Delta flight very recently. I called them and told them the change didn't work with our schedule and they put us all on a different flight (a later one) with no change fee. It's funny b/c I had orginally wanted that later flight but it cost $100 more per ticket so I passed it up, and then got it anyway...it all worked out. I suggest calling to see what they'll do.

Thanks. I may call and see but was also thinking a few hours in the sun may help with the "base" tan we will need on the cruise. It might also be a good excuse for me needing another day off (to prepare)

Well I finally made the flight reservations -- prices were not coming down and I was afraid that they would go up -- also since it will right before Spring Break, I didn't want the flights to fill up! We are flying out on Thursday night, staying at the Hyatt, and flying back on the 6th. Now if March would only get here!!

Well, at least since it is November now- we are less than 5 months until sailaway!!!!:thumbsup2

Does anyone know when Pirate Party is on the Western? I think I'll post in the main DCL thread but if anyone knows.... I'm starting to think about when to book Palo brunch and dinner......

Also, has anyone checked the rates for this cruise recently? I am so kicking myself for booking an inside cabin, but we really wanted to cut costs this trip. Thinking of alternating balcony/inside on future cruises...... But when I looked at upgrading to a split bathroom, it was a LOT more. In fact, our whole cruise, if booked today, would be $1200 MORE than when I booked it on our last cruise! That is sooooo nuts! I'm so sad that DCL is just pricing themselves out of most peoples' budgets, especially those new Fantasy and Dream rates..... $1200 MORE for the same inside stateroom that we now have booked. :scared1:

Kara- If the Magic is following the same dining rotation as it did before it went over to the Mediterranean then Pirate night should be Wednesday (Cozumel)

It might be worth it to check with someone who has recently cruised on the Western itinerary to confirm

We booked the Fantasy for a 7 night Eastern in March 2013 on opening day last month and are actually paying LESS than we are for this one (similar balcony room categories). We didn't get the really low "glitch" pricing some got but it really does pay to book early. We booked this one in April and I guess the price had already gone up from opening day.

There is a great thread started by ssanders79 that has LOTS of information from an October Western on the Magic. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2814906

And for those who may not have seen it, Kara started a thread asking about dining rotations that also has some great info http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2826475

Our cruise may not be exactly the same but I would think it should be pretty similar. And yes, according to these Navigators, Pirate Night is on Day 5, the day we are in Cozumel. Getting even more excited now that we can start planning dining rotations, Palo, etc.!

Even though I can't book Palo until Dec 31, because it falls next month, I'm considering it a month away. It's called Travel Math..... :rotfl2:

Trying to figure out when to do Palo dinner and brunch. I think that's all I need to book at that time?

Well, we are now in November and we can book in December so I agree it is just one month away:thumbsup2
It is my understanding that you can book Palo and any shore excursions at that time.

We are doing shore excursions on our own, so Palo it is! :thumbsup2 So SO excited!!!! My New Years Eve will be made by having Palo booked. THAT will make it all so real! Especially the part about having paid the cruise in full by then! :scared1: Yeah, maybe I should have done that for Halloween! :rotfl2:

just got an email from Disney with links for excrusions etc. talking about December 31 booking. I am so excited.

Kids are looking over excursions now and planning. I like that they think there is unlimited time and budget. :)

Made another payment. Woohoo! so much closer.

Kara - just read your TR from the eastern cruise - It was wonderful!

Anyone else watch the ships leave on www.portcanaveralwebcam.com? I love to watch between 4-5 almost every day!!! I just leave it up on my computer and pop back and forth between that and whatever I'm working on......

And btw..... 146 days!!! Which is now under 150!:cool1:
