We are arriving home at VGF for the first time on Thanksgiving day. We are staying in a 2 bedroom, so we'll have the full kitchen and have been debating on either going out to eat or ordering in Thanksgiving dinner. Any advice would be appreciated. We are not going to the parks that day. Is there a good place to eat dinner? Do you know of a good grocer service that would deliver a Thanksgiving meal? We don't mind partially cooking the food in our kitchen but don't want to do it from scratch. Does anyone have experience with this?

This past year there was a member's only dinner on Thanksgiving at the Contemporary. It was not cheap, and no guarantee it will be done next year, but it would be 2 monorail stops away.

We have ordered a mostly pre cooked Thanksgiving dinners when we stayed in a cabin in the Smokies from Kroger many times. I know that Publix does Thanksgiving dinners, but the fact that you do not get to VGF until Thanksgiving, and the room may not be ready to 4 could be a problem.

So, if you do want to have the dinner in your room, maybe by 6 or 7 that could be possible.

I have ordered the precooked Thanksgiving dinner from Publixs. I used Wegoshop. They delivered the day before. Maybe your resort will have a dinner your can ADR.

Do you remember how long it took for you to cook the food especially the turkey? We don't mind throwing a turkey in the oven as soon as we get in our room. If it's partially cooked, we could eat around 7ish which is fine.

We were at VGF this past Thanksgiving and we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare. It was just a short walk over to the Main building. Maybe try making a reservation at one of the restaurants there or one of the other monorail resorts. Twice we have gotten into our room after 5:30 PM (once at AKV's and once at BCV's). That would not be fun if you didn't get into your room until late and had to throw a turkey in the oven.

I think the problem would be getting the dinner if you don't check in until Thanksgiving. And around here most grocery stores are closed all day on Thanksgiving. I'd make an ADR either at a GF restaurant or some place close by.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought if who may and may not be open that day.

You could celebrate the next day. The important thing is being together. I think my 12LB bird took an hour to reheat. Have a great trip whenever you you celebrate.

Go out to dinner! One of the main reasons my family(mom, dad, sister, brother in law, 2kids and my husband and 2 kids) go for thanksgiving is because I get out of making the turkey. :)) I used to host thanksgiving until I relocated the holiday to Disney and take the family with my points. That's how much I didn't want to make that greasy turkey. Lol we ate at captains grill last year. It was great. Even my dad who loves thanksgiving home cooked turkey said it was wonderful. I'm sure Disney does a great job at the GF restaurants for the holiday.

If that is your traveling day, I'd personally would want to eat out and not cook anything!!! :)

All the restaurants at WDW prepare traditional Thanksgiving meals. So pick your favorite or try something new!!

We have been during T-day week at least six times and usually eat at a resort restaurant for our T-day meal. We have enjoyed them all. :) Last year we did Boma since we were at AKV. It was great, they had their normal menu plus a traditional thanksgiving offerings.
