I just realised that during our trip next year will be Thanksgiving. I'm not gonna change my dates so now thinking of fun things to do with the kids.

Now Canadian Thanksgiving is the same day as Columbus Day. I imagine the parks are probably really busy?!? Do you think Epcot would be a bad idea? I was thinking we could go to the Canadian Pavillion for a little while. We have park hoppers so we could bail ship around lunch if it gets super busy....but my question is will ALL the parks be super busy that day? I imagine Americans have that day off school. Right?

According to touring plans' crowd calendar, it doesn't look too bad at all. The worst day is Oct 7 at an 8 out of 10. Columbus Day is on the eighth and is a 6. Most of your trip should be fine. Now, US Thanksgiving is another thing altogether!:)

Thank you! :) I'm still learning about all these touring plans and such. I am so excited about this trip! I haven't been to Disney since I was 15 years old and when we go my oldest will be a week from turning 15!

No problem!:goodvibes

Check out www.touringplans.com.

For a nominal cost ($10 or something like that) you get access to the crowd calendars, touring plans, etc. for a year. I find it to be quite a good value. You used to get a discount if you had the "Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World".

Enjoy your planning and especially your trip!:)

We were there for Canadian Thanksgiving last year. Crowds weren't bad at all. Columbus day doesn't do much for the crowds. Only thing to avoid is Epcot on the weekends since Food & Wine festival is going on then and it's packed on weekends.

Thank you! I had read to avoid Epcot on the Sat and Sun so that's definately gonna be done. We'll do another park or have a rest day on one of them!

Couldn't have said it better!! :thumbsup2

We've been down each Columbus Day in October since 2003, and while we've noticed the crowds increasing each year, the parks are not nearly as busy as other times in the year (i.e., summer months, July 4, Christmas, etc).

Weekends during the Food and Wine Festival are always busy - not just before Columbus Day - the locals tend to head to Epcot for the F&WF on the weekends.
