Thanksgiving

We aren't big Thanksgiving people. Just the 3 of us, DH will cook the usual sort of things - turkey, sweet potatoes, dressing, not sure what else he plans to make. I bought a couple of pies yesterday, so we're all set.

I am thankful for all of my wonderful friends!! I love chatting with you all. :goodvibes

I am thankfull for a Mickey Mouse balloon in the parade.

I was beginning to think I was old, had not a clue who half of the other characters in the parade are. :confused3

I'm thankful for Cheyenne Jackson singing in the parade! ::yes::

WOOF! Could he be any hotter? And he sings, and he acts, and he dances, and he rollerskates (in tight short shorts no less!) :lovestruc

He's like the most gorgeous talented out gay guy on the planet!

Can't wait to hear him on the Finian's Rainbow cast album!

I'm moving him to the top of "the list"! ;)

The Indian Pudding was perfect. :teeth:

Good that everyone had a nice day. ::yes:: We've sent our boy home with a stuffed car and stuffed belly. LOL. That's what it's all about, eh?

We're taking the little one (we kept him, will meet up with his father on Sunday) and will be heading to downtown Disney. ::yes::

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Americans :)
We had ours already... in October

One of my favorite SCTV episodes was the one where the station's janitors went on strike, and the talent wouldn't cross the picket lines, so Guy Caballero imported programming from Canada, including "It's a Canadian Fact," explanations of cultural differences between the U.S. and Canada, skewed towards a Canadian bias. For example, one "Canadian fact" proclaims, "Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving at the beginning of October and yet Americans celebrate their Thanksgiving at the end of November. That means we must have invented it because we celebrate it first. It's a fact!":lmao:

As for us, I love to cook thanksgiving dinner, so we always make enough food for a crowd even when it's just the two of us, as it was this year. Organic free-range turkey, stuffing with apples, raisins and walnuts, gravy, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, baked carnival squash, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie. Probably end up freezing half the bird and stuffing for another time.

Thankful that I'm still around and able to make a meal like this, and that I still have someone to share it with, and for all my DIS friends!!

Sounds yummy. I have always wanted to try making a dressing with fruit but my family is stuck in the savory sausage dressing rut. I caught some serious static last year when i tried substituting sizzled asian green beans for the old tried and true casserole.

Ugh! I HATE green been casserole. We substituted Paula Deen's green bean bundles (wrapped in bacon, no less) four years ago, and have never looked back. It helps that everyone loves the bacon wrapped green beans. LOL

No offense meant to anyone, but that green bean casserole is not going to be on any table of ours. :confused3 We don't even do green beans at Thanksgiving. We like them well enough (well, I like them better than my wife) but we don't usually include them in holiday fare.

Just used up the last of the oysters for scalloped oysters tonight. Gotta' love those leftovers, eh? LOL.

I love Green Bean Cassarole!

Darn proud to admit it! :cool1:

Hey! If you like it, eat it! ::yes:: Nothing to be ashamed of. Diversity makes the world go 'round. :teeth:

I really like green bean casserole but it's not part of our Thanksgiving tradition and my family is way too traditional to offer something different.

I bet I made pumpkin pie and mince meat pie for five years after my father died before I realized he was the only one who ate it.

We don't make the "traditional" green bean casserole. We usually make a dish that has green beans and artichokes in it - no can of soup required! Or french fried onions!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all!

Me too!

I had it for the first time two years ago (we grew up Mexican, not so big on the casseroles) and loved it, now I want it every thanksgiving.

Same thing with tuna casserole. Mike's mom made it for us a few years ago and she thought I was being sarcastic when I said how good it was, but I had never had it before then.
