I just found out we might be able to go to Disney Thanksgiving week. We would have to stay at Westgate Palace. ( I know Westgate is not optimal) I don't know anything about Westgate Palace. How long to drive to Disney World? Are we crazy to consider Thanksgiving week at all? That is the only week that everyone could go? Should we just stay home? I appreciate any information on Westgate Palace, driving times, etc.

My husband and I are going the day after Thanksgiving and we are also staying at Westgate Palace. The condo was offered to us by our neighbors for 130.00 for a week. I figure for that amount it is probably worth it but I would also be interested in the answers to your questions. Hopefully, you'll get the responses you want. Good luck!

It's 15-20 minutes (but only 8-10 miles) to Disney. Thanksgiving isn't that popular a week so crowds aren't like they would be at Easter or Christmas. Westgate Palace is not a very good place BUT for the right price is certainly a good place to stay and enjoy Orlando. Just avoid the weasel sales people (as a renter or exchange guest you have NO obligation to attend any presentation no matter what they may claim. Blow them off & unhook all the phones (or they will bug you all week).

The area around Westaget Palace is not the best but you don't have to be outside the resort much unless you want to be. Again at the right price I'd do it.

Thanks for the replies. If anyone has any additional information it would be great. Does it have a FULL kitchen and a washer and dryer? Restuarants nearby?

yes, we had a full kitchen and washer when we stayed there two yrs ago. It is very basic compared to the other Westgate resorts. As the sales people described it they took two hotel rooms and combined them into one. The biggest problem we had was that we were a family of 6 they only had a bar to eat at so the kids had to eat at the bar and we had to eat on the coffee table.

It was clean and comfortable accomodation and we got a great deal on the rooms. It is across the street from the Pirate Dinner show is all I can remember. I forget what was nearby. If it is near the Prime Outlet I remember that RedLobster, CrackerBarrel and Applebees being over there.
There are no amneties to the hotel besides the pool, but I believe the front desk told us that we could use any of the other Westgate facilities. They said they were going for the sleak, Trump towers Look. Again, it was not our favorite time share but we did not feel bad because we paid like 29 a night for it.
