Wow the prices on Delta for Thanksgiving weekend just jumped way up. I purchased months ago at 175.00 for 11/21-11/27. I've been watching the flight to check for Song changes and the prices were the same up until last week. I just checked and they are up to 740.00 a seat :confused3 That's some hike!

Same thing happened to me booked the same dates. Paid 177.00 from Boston to Orlando last Sunday now the price is 1,008.00 each. That is insane! When I checked the seating we are the only ones on the plane.

I've been watching the airfares over Thanksgiving for weeks and they were so high. Last Sunday night I got a fare for $177 non stop Boston to Orlando. The next day it was up to $1032.We are going 11/18-11/25.

Last november we didn't go on a last minute trip, because of airfare out of chicago. It was really outrageous. I would keep a close eye on it, and snag it when you have a decient rate. (something you can live with).

:wizard: mky

I wish I had jumped on the good fares a bit earlier. We snagged a one-way return fare of $87.50 per person on Delta, but they are looking for $500+ for the inbound leg, so we are waiting on that portion. We were planning to head down the weekend before Thxgiving, and coming back the following Monday (11-27), since the prior day is the "busiest travel day of the year". So we're just gonna wait until JetBlue and SouthWest come out with fares, and see if we can't snag a good one-way down. Otherwise we may shell out double Frequent Flyer miles and/or do first class with a stop for the inbound one-way.

And there is no big price increase for Delta, in reality; they just sold out of all the low priced tickets, and for the rest they are trying to see if anyone will bite at the full-fare prices. I'm not ready to do that yet; I'll wait to see what the competition offers before settling on a fare.

We got $235 pp from ORD to MCO leaving on 11/26 (the busiest travel day of the year). Price went up $26 the very next day!

I called Delta last night to inquire how airfares went from $177 to $1027 for most days in November, December and January.

I spoke to a supervisor as I was so upset at the price increase. In not so many words she told me that they didn't want to book the flights because they would need to rearrange them so they are showing as sold out. Along the East Coast Song is being fazed out and merging back into Delta. I spoke with a flight attendent last week and asked her if the 757 were still going to be going to and from Florida and she told me that they were going to be going to California and the West Coast and the the east coast were going to get the 737 and MD-80's. So no plane with the TV's anymore. She wasn't too happy either. Than I got home and noticed that they airfare was $1027 and some were $177. Then I checked yesterday, because our friends want to join us in NOvember and I about fainted. I also check various dates in Dec and Jan. Now I been booking Delta flights for over 20 years and they always have good fares early out. But all the dates in Dec and Jan -- non holiday were also showing $1027.

What she told me makes sense since Jet Blue and Southwest only book 7 & 4 months out respectively. The only flights affected are the non-stop ones that were previously Song flights so I think ( I could be wrong) that once they determine what fleet of planes they are going to use then the discounted rates will be back. (Let's hope or I'm driving in Febuary)

Thanks for the heads up on that. I just got thru trying to search for flights and I wondered what was going on with the prices. I'll be coming from California, so it will be expensive no matter what. Let's hope the prices do drop soon. I'll be checking everyday. :surfweb:

The same thing is happening with AA also fare from ORD jumped from 347 to 394 overnight. Don't get it at all. Its just plain nuts.
